High Angle Lift Solutions (HALS) & Horizontal Well Pumping System
Divide the wellbore and offer solutions at each node:Vertical, build and horizontal sections
More efficient artificial lift at higher deviations
Gas and solids separation for increased artificial lift efficiency
Direct and uniform drawdown across the horizontal section
HALS Artificial Lift for vertical and build sections – “Evolutionary”
technology
HALS Beyond the Build Solution for multiphase gas and solids
separation – “Revolutionary” technology
Horizontal Well Pumping System for consistent drawdown across the horizontal section – “Revolutionary” technology
High Angle Lift Solutions (HALS) Artificial Lift - Evolutionary
A High Angle Pumping Technology which may be driven by:
Direct reciprocating hydraulic drive
Linear electric motor
Pump Jack & Rod String
HALS Artificial Lift offers the following features:
Normally closed valve systems
Gas mitigation technology valves open on every stroke
Engineered & controlled auto tap that prevents the potential
damage from conventional tapping operations
Articulated plunger and seal selection for high dog leg severity
Solids management wiper system
Recovery flow tube extendable for extreme deviations and
quality fluid access
Can be placed anywhere in the build section without suffering
losses in efficiency (45°-90°+ inclination)

HALS Artificial Lift - Articulated Plunger
Features:
Eliminates pump placement restrictions:
Land pump past tangent section in high deviationsReduces friction and wear along barrel Normally closed valves5°articulation per plunger section (15°included for typical 3’ API
Choices for specific conditions:
Solids controlSeal selectionMaterials and coatings

API Insert Style
Travelling ValveRaise Travelling Valve
Features:
Works at high angle:
Vertical through horizontalGuided/centralized valvesNormally closed valvesPrecision engineered springs
Prevents Gas Lock:
Travelling valve opens with each stroke
Perfect seal created with matched valves:
Increases efficiencyExceeds API 11AX vacuum test specifications
HALS Artificial Lift – Case Study & Economics
Replaced in kind of API Pump
Solved gas locking problems
Doubled efficiency & production
One year value add estimated to be
$133,000
Payout in less than two months
HALS Artificial Lift – Recovery Flow Tube Accessory
Increased fluid access by extending past
severe dog legs in the build section
Enhanced reservoir drawdown
Size engineered for life of well flow conditions
Can be through tubing deployed and set by
slick/braided line
Can be run as simple pump extension
Allows access to quality fluid as it is placed on
the bottom of the horizontal section, utilizing
gravity separation
Can be sized accordingly to be used as a
velocity tube in plunger lift applications

Horizontal Well Pumping System – Addressing the Problem
THE PROBLEM: After initial flush production from a newly
fractured well bore, all wells exhibit the same pattern of significant
declines (60-80%) in the first 6-24 months.
THE CAUSE: Frac pressures are multiples of formation pressure-
once Frac pressure is dissipated, it is back to natural Delta P to flow
fluids along the horizontal section.

Horizontal Well Pumping System – Revolutionary Tech
Consistent drawdown of horizontal sectionInduces inflow from the toe of the wellAlleviates liquid hold up in horizontal sectionIncreases recovery and reservesField tested with multiple deployments without difficultiesSand control at the pump/sand face interfaceRun in series, but pump in parallel

Lift
There are no existing artificial lift pump
technologies that completelycompletelycompletelycompletely address the
flow issues along the entire horizontal
section - material volumes of oil & gas
reserves are being left behind.
