• Celtic (Kel-Tic) people from Scotland and Ireland

• In the 19th Century many Irish people moved to America.

• Halloween was introduced to American culture.

Trick or Treating

• Trick or Treating is a popular Halloween tradition.

• Groups of children dress up in scary costumes.

• They go from house to house to ask for a ‘treat’ – normally sweets.

• If they are not given a treat then they perform a ‘trick’.

• Many people carve pumpkins on Halloween.

• They place a candle inside the pumpkin.

• These are also known as ‘Jack-O’-Lanterns’.
