Conventional vertical wells offer numerous drilling challenges from efficient cuttings removal in fast drilling, soſt formations to frequent trips in slow drilling, hard and interbedded formations. e FX Series™ drill bits are custom designed to meet these challenges and deliver consistently high performance in the most demanding drilling environments. X 3 Series™ cutter technology provides more footage drilled at higher rates of penetration because the cutter stays sharper longer and wears slower. Impact damage is minimized with secondary cutting elements and impact arrestors when drilling interbedded formations. New diamond compositions increase the impact and abrasion resistance of the X 3 Series cutter, resulting in reduced cutter wear and increased footage drilled. Reduce Damage from Bit Vibration Impact arrestors (proprietary technology) reduce the damaging effects of chaotic bit vibration. Drilling slope control is enhanced and damaging bit vibrations are reduced through the use of impact arrestors. Combined Impact and Abrasion Resistance In conventional vertical wells, cutters can be challenged from both impact and abrasion. X 3 Series cutters are the most durable cutter on the market today and the increased thermal mechanical properties of the cutter allows it to stay sharper longer. Drill Interbedded Formations e MDR backup element limits over-engagement of primary cutting structure at high instantaneous rates of penetration with greater durability than impact arrestors. Alternatively, the use of R1™ backup cutters allows the bit design to essentially double the cutter count of a bit without sacrificing other elements of the design. Vibration Mitigation Gauge pad configurations are custom tailored to provide stability and minimize lateral vibrations. Overall gauge length is matched to the specific application requirements to insure maximum drilling efficiency. Enhanced Cuttings Removal Nozzle position and fluid course geometry are optimized for the application specific challenges, supporting efficient cleaning and cooling of the cutting structure.
