g2 Energy were engaged by the Weightman Family to undertake the Balance of Plant Civil, Electrical & Contestable works on a single 500kW Wind Turbine at Hallfield Farm, Peterlee, County Durham. This is an EWT 500kW machine with a 50m tower, installed under the Governments ‘Feed in Tariff’ scheme, where the generated electricity is being exported back into the national grid. g2 Energy were responsible for the complete Balance of Plant Civil, Electrical and Contestable works, as well as liaising with the local DNO (Northern Powergrid) regarding the 20kV electrical grid connection, which required the design and installation of a 1400m cable route. The Civil Design & Build works included: Geotechnical Site Survey Wind Turbine Foundation design & build Combined DNO 20kV substation block building The Electrical Design & Build works included: DNO & Client Substation design 20kV switchgear installation & commissioning Earthing Survey, design (using CDEGS software) & installation 20kV / 690v and 240v cable design and layouts Contestable Works20kV HV underground distribution system: Trench works and cable lay across public highways and private land (approx 1400m) to Northern Powergrid’s specification Supply & installation of DNO approved 20kV switchgear, NVD protection panel and Battery charger g2 Energy were appointed as the Principal Contractor on site and were therefore responsible for Project Managing the works from start to finish, engaging and coordinating all Contractors on site and ensuring the site workforce were inducted, informed and trained on Health & Safety. To date, g2 Energy have connected 25 single Wind Turbines, 31 Solar Farms & 1 AD Plant. This equates to a total of over 133 Megawatts of renewable energy connected to the national electricity grid. “Connecting you to the grid” Contact g2 Energy: Olney Office Park, 25 Osier Way, Olney, Buckinghamshire, MK46 5FP Telephone: 01234 905100 Facsimile: 01234 241312 Email: [email protected] web: www.g2energy.co.uk Hallfield Farm Wind Turbine Project

Transcript of Hallfield WTG Case Study - - G2 Energy

g2 Energy were engaged by the Weightman Family to undertake the Balance of Plant Civil, Electrical & Contestable works on a single 500kW Wind Turbine at Hallfield Farm, Peterlee, County Durham.

The Civil Design & Build works included:

Geotechnical Site Survey

Wind Turbine Foundation design & build

Combined DNO 20kV substation block building

The Electrical Design & Build works included:

DNO & Client Substation design

20kV switchgear installation & commissioning

Earthing Survey, design (using CDEGS software) & installation

20kV / 690v and 240v cable design and layouts

Contestable Works—20kV HV underground distribution system:

Trench works and cable lay across public highways and private land (approx 1400m) to Northern Powergrid’s specification

Supply & installation of DNO approved 20kV switchgear, NVD protection panel and Battery charger

g2 Energy were appointed as the Principal Contractor on site and were therefore responsible for Project Managing the works from start to finish, engaging and coordinating all Contractors on site and ensuring the site workforce were inducted, informed and trained on Health & Safety.

To date, g2 Energy have connected 25 single Wind Turbines, 31 Solar Farms & 1 AD Plant. This equates to a total of over 133 Megawatts of renewable energy connected to the national electricity grid.
