First Lieutenant David James Butler of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, recently completed Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (JSUPT) at Vance Air Force Base, located in Enid, Oklahoma. During the class 11-04 graduation ceremony held on January 21st of 2011, 1st Lieutenant Butler received his Air Force pilot wings and top honors for finishing first in his 22 member JSUPT class. 1st Lieutenant Butler will be assigned as a military pilot to the 15th Airlift Wing, 535th Mobility Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. He will be flying the C-17A Globemaster III, the Air Force’s premiere strategic cargo transport aircraft. 1st Lieutenant Butler was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments and received top honors in both flight performance and overall standing. Three prestigious awards presented to Butler were: The Air Education and Training Command’s Distinguished Graduate Award, the AETC Commander’s Trophy, and the 32nd Flying Training Squadron Flight Commander’s Award. David Butler was commissioned in May of 2009 as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. !st Lieutenant Butler is a 2005 graduate of Egg Harbor Township High School.
