8 NBA Finals – Miami Heat vs. San Antonio

Spurs – Thursday June 6th to Thursday June 20th (possibly) - In this NBA finals it was a team in it’s prime against a team of veterans who’ve already win 3 championships in the last 14 years. Miami led by the big three of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh haven’t performed to their best but that’s partly due to San Antonio’s veteran leadership shutting them down. Also Danny Green is being a big contributor to the San Antonio team leading the series 3-2

7 NHL Playoffs - Ottawa Senators vs

Montreal Canadiens Series - Thursday May 2nd to Thursday May 9th – Two rivals renewing their rivalry and then some. Starting with the scary Erik Gryba hit on Lars Eller this series had it all. Trash-talking, blowouts, brawls, hat tricks, overtime. This was an entertaining series that Ottawa eventually won.

We don’t really care what that bug-eyed fat walrus has to say- Canadiens winger Brandon Prust on Senators coach Paul MacLean

5 NHL Lockout Over/NHL Opening Night –

January 12th and January 19th – May be biased being Canadian but it was a great feeling waking up and seeing on the headlines that the lockout is over and there will be a 2013 NHL season. Opening night was the best Saturday night in a long while.

4 French Open- Men’s Semifinal –

Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal – Everyone pointed out when the field of players were released that Djokovic could play Nadal in the semi. Well it happened and it was among the best tennis matches of the year. Nadal came out as the winner 4-6, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6, 7-9

NFL AFC Final- Sunday January 20th - Denver Broncos vs. Baltimore Ravens – Peyton Manning is still trying to forget this game. He threw a unheard of two interceptions including one in overtime that lead to Baltimore’s game winning field goal but he’s not the only one to blame. Denver’s defense gave up 3 touchdowns of 30+ yards including a 70 yarder that tied the game with 31 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Baltimore won 38-35 2ot.

2 NHL Playoffs – Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

Game 7 – Monday May 13th – This game will be known as possibly the greatest collapse in NHL Playoff history. Toronto was down 3-1 in the series but forced game 7 thanks to stellar goalkeeping by James Reimer. In game 7 Toronto got up to a 4-1 lead with 2 goals in the 3rd period. With 2 minutes left Toronto was still up by 2. Milan Lucic score to make it 4-3 but there was only 1 and a half minutes left. Then, to the astonishment of everybody it happened. Patrice Bergeron score to tie the game and he also got the game winner in overtime. Toronto fans were crushed and Boston was in a frenzy. That was a game for the ages.

1 Superbowl XLVII – Baltimore Ravens vs San Francisco

49ers – Sunday February 3rd- A New Orleans Superbowl always lives up to the hype. This year it was the Harbaugh bowl as Baltimore coach John went up against his brother Jim. Hall of fame linebacker Ray Lewis for Baltimore was to retire at season’s end. He battled back from an injury to play in the playoffs and had inspired the Ravens to a Superbowl victory. That win also certified quarterback Joe Flacco as elite while his counterpart Colin Kaepernick became a rising star. What may be remembered most though, is the power outage during the game. Final score Baltimore 34 San Fran 31.
