HALF YEARLY REPORT OF LADIES CIRCLE INDIA 2018-2019

We had an extremely eventful 6months under projects in LC India. The National Board had it planned carefully, floating a grant every month for

circles to avail, to initiate projects and provide an incentive to circles all over the county. Alongside the Presidents theme of ‘Wonder Woman’ coupled with the celebration of 50 years of Ladies Circle India since inception, project initiatives were conceived.

q The first project grant floated by the National Board was ‘HER MOBILITY’ where we managed to donate close to 100 CYCLES to school going girls from underprivileged background across the country. The grant totalled to about 2lakhs (2500 Euros)and approximately another 2lakhs (2500 Euros)was raised and donated under this project at the circle level.

q The grant for the month of August was called ‘HER MOTHERHOOD’ wherein, a total amount of 2.5lakhs (3125 Euros) was granted towards sponsoring delivery and medical costs of about 50 needy pregnant ladies from all over the country carefully identified by our circlers.

q Aiding and helping woman and girls from underprivileged backgrounds was furthered by our next grant called ‘HER SPORT’ where we donated about 200 footballs to about 50 school children who were interested in pursuing sports but could not afford it.

q In the month of October, we had an extremely impactful tie up to promote menstrual hygiene amongst girls studying in under privileged schools. Under this initiative called ‘HER HYGIENE’ we distributed around 60,000 sanitary napkins amounting to about 1.2lakhs(1562 Euros) along with an awareness program on the importance of menstrual hygiene, across various circling centres in India.

q The month of November is rather eventful in LC India, due to the big festive season of Diwali which is also the festival of giving away old clothes and donating old things to the poor. We also have the big LC India week celebrated along with Round Table India, during which projects are undertaken for an entire week continuously and simultaneously by almost all circles across the country. As part of the LC India week incentive, LC India, floated a matching grant worth 5lakhs(6250 Euros) towards installation of dustbins in public areas in a city which also got us meaningful publicity.

FLIGHTS OF FANTASY is a project which has brought millions of smiles to kids across the country wherein, kids from needy backgrounds take their first ever flight to a destination and back, all sponsored. Such projects where we are gifting experience and not just donating things make a longer and bigger impact amongst the beneficiaries. We also saw various circles coming together to donate in huge amounts for the KERELA RELIEF FUND and sending truck loads of things to Kerela during and after floods.

PROJECTS

Apart from National Grants, about 120 circles from all over the country got together and joined hands for a bigger impact and did a massive joint National Project once in each quarter, celebrating the Teachers Day on 5th September in Quarter 1 and then celebrating the children’s day on 14th November. A huge impact was possible through this initiative, even with little monetary contribution from circle level.

Projects like Ahmedabad Gives and the Artificial Limb Donation Camp in Coimbatore, which had an impact at a city level, brought huge publicity and name to the organization are much appreciated.

Hello Ladies!Warm greetings from the Fellowship Team of LC India! We have lots to share so hold on tight.

Starting off with the biggest feather in our cap - our record breaking National Fellowship Express "Rock Bangkok". The event was such a success that the only way to do it justice, was to write a separate article on it. Please do go over and read about the adventures of 66 Circlers letting their hair down in Thailand.

The next big star on our report card was the Fellowship explosion that was "Hello November". LC India celebrates National Fellowship Day on the 17th of November every year. This year, we added a little twist to the tale. We made the whole month of November a celebration of Fellowship, of friendship without rules and protocols. We asked each Circle to meet everyday! No plans, no themes, no big budgets, just meet. Even if it was 2 Circlers, meet. Oh what fun! We had Circlers going for coffee, to the spa, taking the kids out, more spa visits! All in all, a super successful initiative that brought the light hearted fun and giggles of Circling back.Bonding within the Circle having been taken care off, we wanted the friendship between Circles to grow too, and that's where the Wonder Box came in. This event took a little preplanning on our part. We gave a little bag to each Area Chairperson, filled with an empty scrap book page for each Circle in their Area. When the Wonder Box came to them, the Circle had to fill up their scrap book page so that whichever Circles got the bag after them would be able to get to know them better. We had Circles putting in their pictures, writing inspiring notes and then meeting the next Circle to hand over the Wonder Box. We knew the exercise was a success when we got photos and notes from various Circles telling us that they had gotten to know themselves as a Circle as well as the Circles that they had received the Wonder Box from. We are waiting to collect a huge pile of Circling love when all the scrap book pages from all the over the Country reach us at the end of the year.

Sawasdee Ka!Warm Thai greetingstoeachoneofyoureadingthis.

Just in case you felt the earth quake a little bit last weekend, it was us. We take full responsibility! What else would you expect when two busses full of Circlers land in Bangkok all excited to be a part of this absolutely crazy extended fellowship extravaganza? The planning phase of the NFE now feels like a distant memory, all that back and forth with the travel agent, intense itinerary discussions, endless hotel options, etc. However, we knew we had hit the bullseye when we announced the final plan and registrations just poured in. Our initial vacancy of 30 seats was sold out in 5 days! We had no choice; we doubled the number. We were now going to take 60 Circlers to Thailand. Guess what... even that wasn't enough. When we found out that each bus had 33 seats, we had 6 more Circlers who wanted to come along. That's the story of our number 66!Once our registrations were frozen, we were ready to create our WhatsApp group, and what an explosion that was! At least 100 messages everyday, all ranging from what we would do, what we would wear, where we would go, what we would eat, where we would party, pulling each others' legs. OMG! Being a part of that group was in itself a crazy fellowship!So... after much planning, and sharing travel advice, the day of departure finally dawned. Everyone was on the move, and everything was starting to fall in place. With so many of us travelling from Bangalore, it felt like the first party venue was the airport itself!Well, the cackling rowdy noisy bunch of adorable Circlers finally reached Bangkok! And... the rest as they say is history! Speed boat rides, parasailing, under water walks, massages on the beach.

FELLOWSHIP

Of course, our crazy competitions deserve a mention before we close. The Worst Singer Competition was a laugh riot. Judging so many hilarious renditions of popular songs was our favourite part! Waiting to judge the tik-tok challenge and the mad-ads competition at the end of this quarter too.

FELLOWSHIPLots and lots of photos. Alcazar show, walking street, midnight massages. Lots and lots of photos. Barely got up next morning and made it to the bus. Lots and lots of photos. NFE t-shirts, Gems Gallery, censored bus ride, Levels night club, Tequila shots. Lots and lots of photos. No sleep but still got up. Marine Park, Safari, Buddhas, Big-fat-group dinner at Gulliver's, Khao San Road, Speeding tuk tuks at night. Lots and lots of photos. Sleep deprived zombies, but still got up. Shopped like crazy. Lots And finally... hugs, tears, good byes, and promises of keeping in touch forever. Didn't really want to come back. *sigh*What happens in Bangkok stays in Bangkok! Just suffice it to say that if a movie was ever made on us, it would be a box office hit!As the Conveners, Priyanka and I couldn't have been more satisfied. Even though it may sound like we are patting our own backs, I honestly truly believe that everyone there had a great time. With so many of us on the group, that was no trivial task. So... If any of you would like to pop a champagne to congratulate us, you can find our addresses in the LC India directory! It truly was "SUPERHEROINES... on our EPIC journey"!Written with lots of love and fond memories by Preeti.
