Doug Pridgen, president and majority owner of the multidealership company, said Monday he hopes to break ground on the 43,000-square-foot Chevy store within 30 days. “And plans would be to be in business by late spring or early summer,” Pridgen said. Haley’s landscape plan for the property goes before the Chesterfield Planning Commission today. Approval of the plan was recommended by the county planning staff pending possible minor changes to plant species selections and plant locations and measures “to help ensure the long-term health of both existing and proposed trees and shrubs.” The county’s Board of Supervisors approved a conditional-use permit for the property in February. The location of the Chevrolet dealership on Hull Street Road will mean Haley will close a Chevy store in Powhatan County that it acquired in January. That was part of Haley’s deal to acquire Capital Automotive’s three dealerships — the Powhatan dealership and two dealerships in eastern Henrico County near Richmond International Airport: Capital Buick-GMC and Capital Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Pridgen announced plans to close the Powhatan store and build the new Chevy dealership at that time. Pridgen said the Powhatan location might be used by Haley Auto Group for other purposes — possibly a used-car dealership or an auction site for used vehicles. “We haven’t made plans for the Powhatan site yet,” he said. “We’ll have to sit down and consider the possibilities.” Haley Automotive Group Presidents At left is Doug Pridgen, president of Haley Automotive Group, and at right is George Poulos, president of Capital Automotive.

The Haley Automotive Group is moving forward with

plans to build a Chevrolet dealership on 14.4 acres

fronting Hull Street Road just east of state Route 288

in Chesterfield County.

Doug Pridgen, president and majority owner of the

multidealership company, said Monday he hopes to

break ground on the 43,000-square-foot Chevy store

within 30 days.

“And plans would be to be in business by late spring or

early summer,” Pridgen said.

Haley’s landscape plan for the property goes before

the Chesterfield Planning Commission today.

Approval of the plan was recommended by the county

planning staff pending possible minor changes to plant

species selections and plant locations and measures “to help ensure the long-term health of both

existing and proposed trees and shrubs.”

The county’s Board of Supervisors approved a conditional-use permit for the property in February.

The location of the Chevrolet dealership on Hull Street Road will mean Haley will close a Chevy

store in Powhatan County that it acquired in January.

That was part of Haley’s deal to acquire Capital Automotive’s three dealerships — the Powhatan

dealership and two dealerships in eastern Henrico County near Richmond International Airport:

Capital Buick-GMC and Capital Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Pridgen announced plans to close the Powhatan store and build the new Chevy dealership at that time.

Pridgen said the Powhatan location might be used by Haley Auto Group for other purposes —

possibly a used-car dealership or an auction site for used vehicles.

“We haven’t made plans for the Powhatan site yet,” he said. “We’ll have to sit down and consider the

possibilities.”

The new Chevy dealership will be across Hull Street Road from the Haley Toyota dealership and the

Haley Automotive Group headquarters.

In all, Haley Automotive has 11 locations — nine in the Richmond area (including Powhatan) and one

each in Farmville and Roanoke.
