What it does ?

Effective frame to the face

Rejuvenates the face and establishes a youth look

Hairline consist of two parts

1) Anterior hairline- runs horizontally from temple to temple

2) Temporal hairline-runs vertically connecting anterior hairline with sideburns

Further subdivision of hairline

1. Microhairline- in anterior region, only 1-hair grafts. It marks the gradual transition between bare scalp to more defined macrohairline

2. Macrohairline-zone between anterior and posterior line filled with 2-follicular hair units

3. Posteroior hairline- this zone can be filled with 4-5 follicular units

How to decide on hairline design

2 major consideration

A. Position (how high the hairline is going to be situated on the forehead)

B. Overall shape (bell vs round)

Positioning of hairline depends on

o Patients age

o Degree of hair loss

o Donor density and extent of usable donor hair

Where to start?

Central, anterior part(trichion) is the best place to decide position of hairline

Lateral extent of hairline

After the 5 points are established, the central point should be confirmed from behind and distance to each lateral points measured to be equal by tape measure

Shapes of hairline design

Female hairline- close and rounded fronto temporal angle

African hairline- almost straight and closed frontotemporal angle

Asian patients- round instead of bell shaped and closed frontotemporal angle
