Club philosophy At Hahndorf Soccer Club we place great emphasis on community involvement and nurturing of junior players to become loyal and long-term club members. Whilst we recognise that soccer is a competitive sport, we believe positive outcomes can be reached in many ways. We define this positive outcome as players who enjoy participating in a team sport, gaining the benefit of exercise, developing their skills by playing and having fun, plus being part of our community.

Coaches

The Hahndorf Soccer Club strives to provide the best coaches for all teams. A majority of coaches are volunteer parents, we will however assist with funding coaching courses and endeavor to have them qualified and up to date with relevant FFA (Football Federation Australia) qualifications. Anyone interested in becoming involved with coaching will be welcomed and supported by the club.

Child Safe Environment The Hahndorf Soccer Club is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children are maintained at all times during their participation in activities associated with the Club. All Club officials have the appropriate clearances and training.

Senior Teams

For the season 2019 the club has nominated one men’s team, encouraging a cohesive playing group within the Club, by providing a blended mix of experience and youngsters. The club will also field a senior women’s team with a combination of youngsters and experienced players, plus beginners wishing to become part of a dynamic and friendly team.

Junior Teams The club will continue to foster participation in soccer at all age groups. Children from the ages of 5 and 6 years can join in with the ‘Miniroos’ program – they practise once a week and enjoy getting out there and having a go. Non-competitive (modified rules) teams start with the Under 8 age group - this is where children start to learn the basics of the game, practise once a week and have a game on a Saturday morning. Parents are asked to assist with the managing of the teams and running the games. In the competitive (Under 12 and above) age groups coaches introduce more skill-based learning and rules of the game. Games are played on the full pitch, with 11 players per side. The Adelaide Hills Referees Branch (AHRB) provide paid referees to control the games. As in previous years we aim to field teams in all junior girls’ and boys’ competitions.

Codes of Conduct

Hahndorf Soccer Club has a proud tradition of fair play and good sportsmanship. We are committed to providing a positive, safe and fun environment that will encourage all players to develop their soccer skills and their self-confidence, while promoting fair play and the enjoyment of participating in a competitive team sport. To achieve this, it is important that all members understand and abide by the Club’s Players Code of Conduct and Supporters/Parents Code of Conduct as outlined.

Players Code of Conduct

Attend training sessions and matches at times established by the coach. If unable to attend, inform the coach as soon as possible

Respect and follow the directions of the coach during training sessions and matches

Act respectfully towards coaches, officials, opponents and team mates. Abusive language is unacceptable

Respect the facilities and equipment of their own club and opposing clubs

Violent behavior and any form of harassment toward any player, official or spectator is unacceptable

13

Supporters/Parents Code of Conduct

Be supportive of the coach. The coach is generally a club member who has volunteered their personal time

Be positive and supportive of the player

Accept the results of each game and encourage the player to be gracious in victory and to turn defeat into victory by working towards improving

Avoid criticising the coach, other players and officials

Your conduct and language should reflect and support the Club’s ideals of good sportsmanship Abusive language is unacceptable

Let the coach do the coaching, allowing them time to talk to players at half time

Remember, the player is there for their enjoyment

Junior Respect Program

The Club follows the philosophy of the “Respect Program”: Respect your coach, Respect your team mates and Respect your Club. Guidelines to remember:

Listen – when your coach is speaking your mouth is closed; you can ask questions, however wait for your coach to finish and do not talk back or argue.

Pay attention – when listening do not get distracted by other players.

This is for the enjoyment of everyone. If players choose not to be Respectful, then there will be a consequence:

Warning – you will be clearly told that you are being warned and why,

Yellow Card – suspended for half of the next game, or

Red Card – suspended for the next full game

In the event of a penalty, either the coach or junior coordinator will speak to the player/parent involved and explain the club’s program. With respect to either Card being received the expectation is that the player will still attend all training sessions and support their team on game day. If the player does not attend the ‘suspended’ game the Card will roll over to the following game.

Training

The overall responsibility for trainings will be with the coach. Junior parents are however asked that they stay with their children during training. If for any reason parents are unable to stay with their children they must make sure that they have informed the coach who is to be responsible for the child in the case of any emergency.

- Senior men’s, women’s, Under 16s and Under 17 Girls teams training has started in late January. Training will continue throughout the season on a Thursday evening, with some indoor training planned for June.

- Junior Non-competitive teams will train on Wednesday

nights at Pine Avenue (our Home ground)

- Competitive teams will train once a week at the Mylor oval.

Training details will be finalised when the teams are announced.
