Stephen Covey School Building Program: We have gone to tender! Just a quick update regarding our upcoming buildings works. Dabtech has been appointed as our project managers and on Monday of this week they have put the project out to tender. The tender process is generally four weeks for companies to provide their quotation, though there is the provision for this to be extended for a week or two. Once all tenders have been received, the project managers, the Victorian School Building Authority and the school will review each and make a recommendation for one of the companies to be appointed. Once appointed the company is expected to be on site, ready to start within a month. In my conversation with the project managers this week, the first piece of work that will need to be completed will be the digging of a trench from the west side of the ELC down the inside of the McRae Street boundary then back to McKenzie street between the SLC and the main school building. This will contain all services to connect the school – water, communications, sewer and power. As with all of the construction work access to buildings will be maintained and the health and safety of the student, staff, school community and the workers on site will be of the very highest priority. We will keep disruption to school programs as minimal as possible and keep you fully informed of the stages of the works as they proceed. It is anticipated that the works will be completed and we will have an almost brand new school by the end of term 1, 2021. LEAP: This program started this week and will run for the next four Wednesdays with a Leadership day in the last week of term, on Wednesday 25 th March. This program provides another opportunity for our year 6 students to develop their leadership skills as it is they that have chosen their activity and designed the four week program, ensure all resources are ready and then implement it with their group of 8 – 10 students. Each year 6 leader has a mentor to support them and provide advice and feedback. This program integral to The Leader In Me is another point of difference between our school and most others. Reporting to Parents: Our school is trialling a change to our reporting to parent’s schedule, so that the following will be in place: Term 1 – a parent teacher meeting in the last week of term. This will provide you with an overview of how your child has settled into the new year and the progress that they have made. For years 3- 6 it is expected that each child will attend and participate in the discussions. For this year the date for this has been set for Tuesday March 24 th . Details will be sent out shortly Term 2 – a written report available via compass in the last week of term Term 3 – a student led parent- teacher meeting late in the term – date to be set closer to the time. Teachers will work closely with the children to develop their skills at an age appropriate level to successfully lead this meeting Term 4 - a written report available via compass in the last week of term As always parents and/or teachers are welcome to make times to discuss children’s progress/ welfare etc at any point during the year at a mutually convenient time. Welcome Back Picnic: It was disappointing that we needed to postpone the family welcome back picnic on Tuesday due to inclement weather. We have rescheduled this for next Wednesday, March 4 th from 5pm – 7pm. Hoping that you will all be able to attend and that we get some great weather. Pupil Free Day: School Council has approved Tuesday April 14 th as a pupil free day. All staff will be working with educational consultant Lyn Watts on this day to further assist in the implementation of our Talk For Writing (Years F – 2) and Voices (Years 3- 6) program. Please note that this is the first day of term 2 with the Monday being Easter Monday. Our year 3 and 4 students will then head off to camp at Grantville on Wednesday April 15 th . Regards Michael

Begin With The End In Mind – Do something today that

your future self will thank you for. Stephen Covey School Building Program: We have gone to tender! Just a quick update regarding our upcoming buildings works.

Dabtech has been appointed as our project managers and on Monday of this week they have put the project out

to tender. The tender process is generally four weeks for companies to provide their quotation, though there is
