Our Church The Flatbush SDA Church is one of the churches of the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a member of the worldwide body of Seventh-day Adventists numbering about 18.5 million members in 215 countries including more than 1.1 million members in North America. Our School The Flatbush SDA School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade Seventh-day Adventist Christian School sponsored by Flatbush SDA Church. The school is located at 5810 Snyder Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11203. Phone:(718) 922-6390. Seventh-day Adventists In 1844, as a result of intense study of the prophetic portions of scripture by earnest Christians representing various religious groups, there arose a keen awareness, that Christ our Heavenly High Priest, upon completing His investigation of the Life records of all professed Christians, would return in person to earth with His rewards. This spon- taneous conviction of these unpopular views caused these sincere believers to be sep- arated from their churches, as they persistently held to these beliefs. However, being drawn together, this revival grew into a world movement encompassing 215 countries and approximately 750 languages. Our Name The name Seventh-day Adventistchosen in 1860, includes vital beliefs for us as a Church. 'Adventist' reflects our passionate conviction in the nearness of the soon return ('advent') of Jesus (John 14:1-3). 'Seventh-day' refers to the Biblical Sabbath which from Creation has always been the 7th day of the week, or Saturday (Exodus 20:8-11). Our Mission The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to proclaim to all peoples the ever- lasting gospel in the context of the Three Angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12, leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and to unite with His church, and nurturing them in preparation for His soon return. WE BELIEVE The Trinity: There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three coe- ternal Person. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all and ever pre- sent. Hebrews 1:13; John 15:26. The Bible: The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the Word of God. Creation: God is Creator of all things, and has revealed in Scripture the authentic account of His creative activity. Genesis 1:1. The Sabbath: The seventh day, established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His early ministry, is to be observed by His followers. Exodus 20:8-11. The Church: The Church Gods family, called out from the world to join together for worship, fellowship, instruction in the Word, the celebration of the Lords Sup- per, service to all mankind, and for the worldwide proclamation of the gospel. Death and Resurrection: The wages of sin is death. But God, who alone is im- mortal will grant eternal life to His redeemed. Until that day, death is an uncon- scious state for all people. Ecclesiastes 9:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17. Second Advent: The second coming is the blessed hope of the Church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviors coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. Matt. 24:30; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11. FLATBUSH SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH Easton Marks, Pastor David O.
