Just like everything else, this has not been a normal 4-H summer. We have missed getting to see our 4-H members at 4-H Camp, 4-H Teen Conference, 4-H Livestock and Horse Shows and the many 4-H events at the Hart County Fair. We are also not sure what the next few months will look like with 4-H events. However, we are going to try to offer some 4-H activities, projects, etc. that can follow social distancing and CDC guide- lines. Please be patient with us as we are all trying to figure out a new way of programming this fall. Thank you to all the families that took part in our 4-H Grab N Go Kits for the 10 weeks we offered them in March, April & May. We offered 4-H projects each week in June and now in July we are offering 4-H science activities for youth to enjoy each week. Due to the current situation with Covid 19 and social distancing the Hart County 4-H Council has decided to hold a Virtual 4-H Achievement Banquet for 2020. There will be a Kentucky 4-H Virtual Hippology/Judging Contest on July 29-31st. This competition will be a modified version. There will be multiple choice questions, slide identification, and 6 judging classes. There will not be a station portion of the exam. In addition to the usual format, the senior participants will also be asked to write reasons for two of the judging classes since this is a combined event. All other rules will remain in effect such as resources, and age categories. This is a link to the regular hippol-ogy rules. https://afs.ca.uky.edu/4h-youth/horse/event/ky-state-horse-contest There is no fee to participate in this competition. A top 10 will be announced for overall hippology score (written questions, plus judging), and for Judging (judging score plus reasons). No awards will be given for this event, but the top 10 finishers in both hippology and judging will be posted to the 4-H Horse Program Website. Seniors with the top 4 overall hippology scores, and seniors with the top 4 judging scores (including reasons scores) will be invited to represent Kentucky at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-UP. Encourage children to eat vegetables and fruits by making it fun. Provide healthy ingredients and let kids help with preparation, based on their age and skills. Kids may try foods they avoided in the past if they help to make them. Let kids explore different smoothie combinations. You can even freeze into popsicle molds Kids love to dip their foods. Whip up a quick dip for veggies with yogurt & seasonings such as herbs or

garlic. Serve raw veggies such as broccoli and carrots. Try caterpillar kabobs. Assemble chunks of melon, apples, oranges & pears on a skewer for fruit kabobs

or use veggies such as cucumbers, squash, sweet peppers and tomatoes for veggie kabobs!! (Source: Choose My Plate)
