NOTE:

This Glossary is now very old (Jan 1993) and containsmany inaccuracies. However, it still contains a great deal ofuseful information, I decided to make it available in itspresent form. Eventually there will be a corrected andupdated version with hyperlinks. For now I have made noattempt to make corrections or edit the material.

I have only made slight formatting changes to make it morereadable and easier to convert to Adobe pdf.

HK Glossary

In Health Kinesiology many words and phrases are used which are a sort of jargon. To anoutsider the meanings of these phrases are likely to be obscure, or worse, misunderstood.New HK Students will find this Glossary helpful for at least two reasons: 1) to learn theHK meanings of special words, and 2) as a review resource, since many procedures, techniques, concepts, and 'tidbits' are summarized here. Unfortunately, not all concepts canbe covered in a Glossary. New items will be added from time to time - no Glossary can befully complete.

In HK special emphasis has been placed on using the proper word. Since extensive anddetailed analysis is used, HK has made distinctions which many others have not, so it is thatmuch more important that we observe the language and use it correctly. Poor languageeither restricts our thinking or misleads it. For example, the words "Health Care" have littleto do with health and many believe not much to do with care. Or, more to the point here, below I distinguish Allergy from Intolerance. Traditional methods do not, but withtechniques of HK the distinction becomes totally clear and extremely valuable. HK requiresPLAY as part of good LIFE BALANCE, so some definitions will have a bit of humor inthem. This is not meant to be disdainful to anyone or to any other Kinesiology, but ratherto call attention to the differences and similarities which characterize us.

All words or phrases which are in BOLD CAPS have their own entry, and in some caseseach of several phrases must be understood in order to obtain the whole concept. Forexample, ALLERGY, ALLERGY TESTING, ALLERGY TEST POINT, andSUBSTANCE PLACEMENT AREA all are involved in allergy testing.

Below is a listing of all term headings for quick reference:

ACTIVATION POINTSThese are Acupuncture reflex points which will activate or increase the energy in aspecific meridian. There are points for each meridian. The HK Sedation - ActivationPoints handout lists and illustrates each of the points, including element 0, Governing /Central meridians, not shown on other charts. Compare with SEDATION POINTS.

ADEQUATEAdequate means "just good enough" but not OPTIMUM. HK always strives for theoptimum because usually just good enough" is not as ROBUST a correction. There maybe a deliberate trade-off between power and speed or ease of use for some types ofcorrections, but this is always done with full knowledge of the implications. Forexample, The ALLERGY TAP is not as powerful as the SET procedure but it is easyfor anyone to use, while the SET requires more professional knowledge.

ADJUNCTIVE FACTORAll those factors which do not directly involve ENERGY CORRECTIONS but whichmust be taken into consideration for the improvement or maintenance of health.Touching reflex points or the like is not necessary. Some of the major factors are listedhere and described below. Just as with the ENERGY CORRECTION FACTORSan INDEX, or QUOTIENT, can be obtained to ascertain the state of the factor. Forexample, a work index of 87 means the person is high, but not ideal, in the amount andtypes of work in their life. Adjunctive factors include (partial list): AFFIRMATIONS,BODY WORK, BREATHING, EMOTIONS TRAINING, EXERCISE,GEOBIOLOGY, HABIT CHANGE, INFORMATION, NUTRITION, PLAY,REACTIVATION, REST, SEX, SLEEP, SPIRITUAL PRACTICE,VISUALIZATION, and WORK.

AFFIRMATIONSAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Testing is done to determine whether some affirmationis appropriate or not. If so, then the exact wording is determined, the number ofrepetitions for each session, how many sessions per day, approximately how many daysto continue, and any other aspect are determined. After the person practices theaffirmation some, and periodically thereafter, an INDEX of effectiveness can be done. The affirmation is continued until testing indicates it is no longer beneficial. Almostalways the phrases must be said out loud. The person must be tested to determine thatsaying the affirmation does not stress them. If it does then corrections are made beforethey begin to use the affirmation.

AGE IDENTITY™The circumstance in which a person will not TL to a particular PSYCHOLOGICALitem at their present age but will TL to the item when identifying with an earlier age.The age identification is produced through a step-wise AGE REFERENCESEQUENCE during which the person thinks of being that age. The target age can beanything, but age "0" (at birth) is very common. The Psychological Item is usually a verysimple thought such as "alone" or "cold." The correction points are done only at thetarget age, but each step of the Age Reference Sequence is maintained until the personis ready to move on, as determined through testing.

AGE REFERENCE SEQUENCEThe ages (tested) through which a person sequences during an AGE IDENTITYcorrection. This sequence will include various ages, both descending from the currentage and ascending from the correction age.

ALIGNMENTAs part of the energy CONTROL SYSTEM FACTOR, alignment refers to properlytuning, or correcting, multiple energy circuits in the body's ownELECTROMAGNETIC energy system. This is analogous to what is called alignmentof a TV set: adjusting the various circuits so that the picture and sound are correct.

ALLERGYWhen exposure to any amount of a substance, however small (compare withTOLERANCE), disturbs the person's energy flow then that substance is said to besomething to which the person is Allergic. See ALLERGY TESTING.

ALLERGY CORRECTIONUsing the ALLERGY TAP or SET procedures to "retune" the person's energy whileexposed to the allergic substance results in the person no longer weakening / unlockingwhen ALLERGY TESTING that substance. This is then said to be an AllergyCorrection.

ALLERGY TAPThe method described in Dr. Scott's book Cure Your Own Allergies in Minutes forcorrecting 90% of all allergies (ALLERGY CORRECTION). While the allergicsubstance is located over the SUBSTANCE PLACEMENT AREA the END-POINTS of Elements II (B/K) and IV (St/Sp) are tapped rapidly for about 100 taps. This process retunes the energy system so that the person is no longer allergic.

ALLERGY TEST POINTThe Allergy Test Point is Tw 21, just in front of the ear. See ALLERGY TESTING.

ALLERGY TESTINGWhenever a substance is over the SUBSTANCE PLACEMENT AREA and theALLERGY TEST POINT is being touched, if a muscle test weakens / unlocks, thenthe person is said to be allergic to the substance. This is an operational definition ofAllergy Testing, and is the most sensitive method known.

ANALYSIS OF ISSUESThis is the basic process of HK. When a new session is begun the first decision iswhether to use the ITEM PRIORITY, META-ANALYSIS, SUPERSTUFFCORRECTIONS, MERIDIAN ENERGY FLOW ANALYSIS, or thePROBLEM SOLVING approach (INTUITIVE is possible, but not recommended). This is determined by testing. The Analysis of Issues is a list of possibilities used toquestion the BODY as to which FACTORS are needed to correct the ISSUE. Thesecan be listed and prioritized before any work is done, and the experienced HealthKinesiologist can easily estimate the time required to handle the entire issue.Furthermore, an experienced HK practitioner can quickly do an analysis which then canbe used by a less experienced practitioner to complete all the required corrections. Inevery case, of course, ORDER OF PRIORITY IS FOLLOWED.

APOPI SPHEREA proprietary device from Europe used for neutralizing certain GEOPATHIC energies. It is a small plastic sphere filled with a special fluid containing precisely prepared secretmixtures of various trace elements. There are ten different units available. They areextremely effective.

AROMATHERAPYTraditionally aromatherapy included either smelling specific aromas (of etheric oils),massaging them into the skin, or ingesting them. With HK one can muscle test todetermine whether any form of aromatherapy is appropriate at the moment, and if so,which thing to do. Sniffing the appropriate oil can produce rapid, dramatic changes inhow one feels. HK also uses the etheric oils for REACTIVATION, ALLERGYCORRECTION, SUPERSTUFF CORRECTION, ENERGY FLOWBALANCING, and other corrections as well as use as an ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR.Also see TEST KIT.

ASK THE BODYThis usually means, in HK, the process of ASKING VERBAL QUESTIONS of theBODY. It can also mean to ask the body non-verbally by testing some reflex point. Ineither case the result of that testing is interpreted as the body's answer. Of course, wenever mean the person verbally responding to our muscle test in any case.

ASKING VERBAL QUESTIONSThe most powerful way to obtain information from the body and to determine how tobalance energy. However, great emphasis must be placed on using careful logic, phrasing, interpretation, and technique. A poor question, badly interpreted (by thetester) can be very misleading, but the body still did not lie, because the body answersquite literally. Being explicitly clear about meanings is crucial. For example, the verbalquestion "Is this substance good for the body?" is a very poor question. Good in whatway? Good for what purpose? Good under which circumstances? Good when? Good forwhose body? Good in every way? A substance can be both "good" and "bad' at the sametime. Many powerful energy corrections can only be determined through proper verbalquestioning.

ASSUMPTIONSAn assumption is what we believe or expect to be true. Most assumptions are hidden, orunconscious, yet can determine the quality and effectiveness of our work. We shouldalways endeavor to discover and to confirm our assumptions. Assumptions also are afundamental aspect of PROJECTions, and the projections can only work if theassumptions are met.

AUTHORIZED HK INSTRUCTORWhen a person has sufficient experience and understanding of concepts and technique, and if the person has appropriate teaching skills, they may be invited to become anAuthorized Instructor. One cannot become an Authorized Instructor by taking aworkshop or applying.

BALANCETo Balance the energy means to change any energy disturbance, energy block, distortionof energy flow, or other improper energy level so that the muscle testing no longerindicates any stress in the energy system under the circumstances of testing. Clearly, themore thorough the testing the better the energy can be balanced. See MERIDIANENERGY BALANCED and BALANCING AROUND THE NAVEL.

BALANCING AROUND THE NAVELAround the navel there are reflex points for each meridian (see NAVEL REFLEXES).If each of these is lightly TL'ed in turn (see HK SEQUENCE andCIRCUMBILICATE) any which weaken / unlock the indicator muscle are in anOVER-ENERGY condition. HK balances by reducing the over-energy rather than byincreasing under-energy because 1) carefully asking many bodies has yielded theconclusion that it is better, and 2) reducing over-energy rarely requires more than onecorrection, even when there are multiple under-energy and over-energy meridians. Forthe first over-energy meridian the proper reflex points are held (as determined by theREFLEX EVALUATION POINTS, REPs) or verbal questioning and then themeridian balance is re-evaluated by the HAND OVER THE NAVEL test. If that isstrong / locked then (some of) the CONFIRMATION TESTS are applied to insurethat balance is complete. Should the hand over the navel re-test weaken / unlock, thenthe next indicated element is done, etc. This procedure usually requires less than oneminute for complete meridian balancing. All HK work is done starting from an energybalanced system, rather than starting by finding what is needed to balance the system. This procedural difference has many implications.

BALANCING TAPThe method described in Dr. Scott's book Cure Your Own Allergies in Minutes for rapidlyenergy balancing all meridians (see MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCED) in a fewseconds. The area around the thymus (where the 2nd ribs join the sternum) is tappedin a counterclockwise direction (viewed looking toward the chest) for about 100 taps. Thismethod balances all meridians about 99% of the time.

BBEIBBEI is abbreviated from Body-Brain Energy Integration. The existence of this categorywas indicated by the HK ENERGY MODEL. These items all have the followingcharacteristics: they are simple fundamental fears, they were set up (causing energydisturbance) in the person prior to the age of two months, and they do not TL with theHAND OVER THE NAVEL. This means that although they are fears they are notPSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMS, because Psychological Items do TL around the navel.Typical items include: Fear of being abandoned, Fear of touch, Fear of not being loved, andsome 75 others. These, along with many Psychological items, determine how the youngchild relates to the world, a pattern carried forward throughout life unless it can bechanged through energy corrections or otherwise some 'accidental' experiences.

BELIEF SYSTEMA person's belief system(s) seems to be their picture of how the world ought to be. Thispicture is created through a complex mixture of 'facts,' attitudes, deeply ingrainedemotional responses, and other not yet clearly delineated influences. People go to greatlengths to maintain their beliefs, choosing appropriate 'facts' from the array available, rationalizing away any conflicts, ignoring inconsistencies, etc. Religious belief, faith, andbelief systems are similar and overlap in content. See also, PROOF, UNPROVEN, andSPONTANEOUS REMISSION.

BIOMETRIC INDEXThe energy level of any particular place or person on the BIOMETRIC SCALE.

BIOMETRIC SCALEAn energy scale developed by some dowsers many years ago. An index of 6500corresponds to the typical human energy level, with about 1000 being the bottom of thescale and 10,000 being the usual top of the scale. Old sacred places typically have anindex of 18,000. Exposure to energies less than 6500 tend to slow down the body;energies above 6500 tend to speed up the body. For example, for the best sleep the bedshould have a BIOMETRIC INDEX a bit under 6500. For the best work, an index ofjust over 6500 is better. The best index for any given person or activity varies accordingto the person. A person with excellent health and well balanced energy can tolerate veryhigh and very low index numbers (at least for a short while) with no special effects. Onthe other hand, a person who is not very well or whose energy is not well balanced maybe badly affected with indexes not very different from the "ideal" 6500. These are veryimportant concepts when investigating environments for GEOPATHIC stress.

BLACK LINESGEOPATHIC energies flowing along or above the surface of the earth in a specificpathway. These are not LEY LINES, CURRY NETWORK LINES, orHARTMANN GRID LINES, though they have some similarities in that the energiescan reverse direction, the energies have a CHARGE, etc. There are probably at leastfour types of adverse black lines.

BLACK WATERGEOPATHIC energies emanating from certain (but not all) underground water. Theenergies appear to be more intense when the water is 1) flowing faster, and 2) when thewater is changing strata rapidly. There are probably at least four types of adverse blackwater energies. They tend to flow directly up out of the ground or down into theground.

BLOCKINGSee GUARDING.

BLOW OUTTo blow out energy (blows out, blown out) means to disturb or unbalance the energy, particularly when the degree of unbalance produces obvious behavioral correlates suchas confusion, memory disturbance, or the like.

BODYThe body means several different things: 1) the physical body itself, 2) any of the variousSUBTLE ENERGY BODIES, and 3) a combination of these two plus any other lesswell understood energies which make up the body we ask when we ASK THE BODYquestions.

BODY POSITION MEMORYBody Position Memory most often occurs with severe stress or physical trauma. The resultis that whenever the person is in a very specific body position then the energy system isstressed (BLOWs OUT). Every detail of that position must be precisely duplicated todo the correction. Attention must be paid to eyes (open or closed), breath (held in, out,or not at all), mouth (open, closed, or clinched), and every other part of the body. Onlyone correction per position is required if done properly.

BODY WORKAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. The physical alignment of the body is controlled by thebrain through muscle position. All muscles, tendons, and ligaments contain sensoryreceptors to send the appropriate information to the brain about their condition. Bodywork involves applying physical operations to these muscles, tendons, and ligaments.Such operations include massage, pressure, stretching, pushing, rotating, etc. Theseoperations then allow energy to flow in or through certain parts of the energy systemresulting in better feedback through the nervous system so that the brain receives higherquality information about the physical state of the body and thus can provide bettercontrol.

BREATHINGAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Corrections for breathing might need to be done, butas an adjunctive factor, breathing refers to some sort of breathing training (as might anasthmatic undergo) or breathing exercises, such as Yoga. As always, testing determinesthe need for this, when, how much, best time of day, and so on.

CERTIFICATION IN HKThere are three certification levels: BASIC, which mostly requires considerable documented experience obtained after

attending the appropriate authorized workshops. INTERMEDIATE, which includes requirements between the Basic and Full levels.FULL, which requires extensive work in HK, other K's, a research project,

comprehensive reading, a significant amount of HK work done on oneself, aperformance examination, and other work. This is approximately equivalent to atough Masters Degree from a University.

Complete information is available to all HK students.

CHAKRASChakra corrections are part of ENERGY FLOW BALANCING. A chakra is an energycenter. The major ones are located along the spine, projecting towards the front of thebody. No one muscle test or correction can fully 'balance the chakra' as they have acomplex structure. Any given test or correction may affect only one small aspect of thechakra and to competently work with chakras requires extensive knowledge andCLARITY OF CONCEPT.

CHARGECharge can refer to the electrical potential of an energy (plus, minus, and intensity orvoltage) or analogously to the psychological "potential" of an experienced energy(positive, negative, and intensity). An INDEX can be determined readily, whether aPSYCHOLOGICAL FACTOR or GEOPATHIC energy is being evaluated.

CIRCUMBILICATEFrom circum - around, umbilicus - the navel, ate - forming a verb, to act. Touching andmuscle testing each reflex point around the navel in HK SEQUENCE to ascertainwhether or not that element is properly energy balanced under the currentcircumstances.

CLARITY OF CONCEPTClarity of Concept is one of the three HK IMPERATIVES. The Kinesiologist canobtain results which are no better than the clarity of the concepts being tested. To theextent the tested concepts are incomplete or inaccurate, the results will also beincomplete or inaccurate. Exactly the same idea applies to using a FINGER MODE.See CONCEPT.

CLIENTA client is a person who is paying for professional services, and assumes the responsibilityfor accepting or rejecting any advice or other recommendations made by thatprofessional. Compare with PATIENT.

COGNITIVE SENSORY INTEGRATIONA part of ENERGY FLOW BALANCING. Cognitive Sensory Information includesthinking (with several types such as creative, intuitive, logical, etc.), the process ofremembering, the process of understanding, and distinctions such as seeing vs. looking, listening vs. hearing, touching vs. feeling, and speaking vs. talking. While SENSORYENERGY FUNCTION has to do with how the brain processes sensory information,CSI has to do with how the brain relates or integrates sensory information withcognitive processes.

COILSThese are specially designed spirals of copper wire used to neutralize certainGEOPATHIC energies. Coils may be wound clockwise or counter-clockwise and mostoften one of each is used as a pair. Several pairs may be needed in a given installation.

COLORTHERAPYTraditionally colortherapy is done by projecting particular colors of light on the body. With HK muscle testing can be done to determine the optimum parameters when usedas an ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Specific colors or white light (see QUARTZHALOGEN) can be used on the body as a whole or any small part. This might be intothe eye(s), onto acupoints, on the skin over any organ, on the head, or elsewhere. Theintensity, duration, brightness, frequency of application, and other parameters aredetermined through muscle testing. Do not forget sunlight! In addition, HK uses colorsfor REACTIVATION, SUPERSTUFF CORRECTION, ENERGY FLOWBALANCING, and other corrections. Also see TEST KIT.

CONCEPTThe CONCEPT is the key to all Kinesiology. Without the Concept there is nothing totest or correct. All K's vary in their power and effectiveness and their biggestcontribution is not their techniques, but rather the Concepts they generate. That is partlywhy HK requires its students to learn other K's for CERTIFICATION IN HK. Anyfield evolves by creating and developing its Concepts. Progress in Kinesiology is progressin its Concepts. See CLARITY OF CONCEPT.

CONFIRMATION TESTSOne or more tests done to confirm that the person is, indeed, meridian energy balanced. In HK the tests used are: YES / NO, MAGNET, MY NAME IS..., PINCH /UNPINCH. The HAND OVER THE NAVEL is always done with each of these tomake sure that all meridians are being tested.

CONTROL SYSTEMThe body's energy control system is that part which regulates and controls the flow ofenergy throughout the body. It is ELECTROMAGNETIC in nature and can bedisturbed by external electromagnetic fields. It is through this mechanism thatGEOPATHIC energies affect the body.

COOKBOOK KINESIOLOGIESThere are a number of kinesiology 'recipes', or procedures for 'correcting' one thing oranother. If someone selects, for whatever reason, a group of recipes from the larger totalavailable they have created a Cookbook Kinesiology. Many of the various Kinesiologies areCookbook varieties, distinguished only by the particular group of recipes selected, butotherwise about the same. In contrast, HEALTH KINESIOLOGY is an originalsystem, with an underlying energy model, rather than a collection of recipes and ad hocexplanations.

COSMIC BATTERIESA series of European proprietary devices. They include several different energy changerswithin one glass tube to produce units with special characteristics. There are four sets:one each for GEOBIOLOGICAL energies, CHAKRAS, cosmic energies, andplanetary influences. With HK it is found that these 'batteries' have many other uses, including accomplishing certain corrections without touching any reflex points, byplacing the proper 'battery' on the correct spot on the body during the correction.

COUPLED MERIDIANSThe meridians within each ELEMENT are said to be coupled (the Chinese Husband -Wife Law within the Five Element System). They exchange energy with each other inaddition to their element exchanging energy with other elements. See HK SEQUENCEfor a listing of each pair of coupled meridians.

CROSS-CRAWLCross crawl is not used by HK, as it is an ENERGY TONING process rather than anENERGY CORRECTION process.

CRYSTAL PROGRAMMINGIt is possible to impart other energies into the natural energy structure of crystals. Thisprocess is called crystal programming. These can be used to support the body's energysystems, much like homeopathic substances, or to provide an ENERGY PATTERNfor ENERGY CORRECTIONS.

CRYSTALSWhen atoms in a molecular structure are aligned in an orderly array a crystal is formed.Such atomic structure produces a variety of characteristics, including shape, color, etc.,trace amounts of various elements producing different effects within the crystal. Energyemanations are also affected. These energies can have numerous

CULTURAL DEMANDS™Our culture makes subtle and powerful demands on people. For example, a woman issupposed to get married and have children. These demands can be very stressful, quiteaside from the PSYCHOLOGICAL component. There are six subcategories underCultural Demands: belong, experience, integrate, lose, understand, and value. Eachsubcategory has it's own unique reflex points, all different from each other and from thepoints used for psychological corrections.

CURRY (NETWORK)A global network of energy lines which run diagonally to the poles, eg northeast-southwest and northwest-southeast. The distances between lines can vary but iscommonly 24 to 26 feet (8 meters). The lines tend to alternate direction of flow andelectrical charge, both with adjacent lines and over time. CURRY line crossings can beparticularly adverse. See GEOBIOLOGY.

DEGAUSSGauss is one unit of magnetic field strength. To de-gauss, then, means to de-magnetize.A Tape Head Demagnetizer is traditionally used to de-magnetize the recording heads ontape recorders, but is used in HK to help desensitize a person toELECTROMAGNETIC fields. Doing so is only temporary and is not a correction. Also, it is not the case that the person is magnetized and we are de-magnetizing them!It is only that the strong alternating magnetic field produced by the degausser causes theenergy system to be less sensitive for a while.

DO / AVOIDThis is a handout sheet given to new clients to suggest very general ways to improvetheir diet. It is explained that as allergy and diet testing is done that the suggestions willchange and be more specific, but this is a starting place. It is important to involve clientsimmediately in their own change process.

DREAM ANALYSISHK can be utilized to help interpret elements of a recalled dream.

ELECTRICAL CURRENTSElectrical current is produced any time two dissimilar metals are in an electrolytesolution. Metal fillings in teeth are good examples. The resulting currents are oftenstronger than the natural currents of the body and thus can cause great stress. HK hastwo methods of reducing or eliminating the effects of these currents. These correctionsare part of the energy CONTROL SYSTEM FACTOR.

ELECTROMAGNETICThere are four fundamental forces: gravity, strong interactions (within the nucleus),weak interactions (within the nucleus), and electromagnetic. Thus, electromagnetic coversa very wide spectrum, ranging from very low frequencies (long wavelength) throughheat and light to beyond gamma and cosmic waves (short wavelength). Power lines andaudio frequency (from loudspeakers, not the sound itself) waves are very low frequency.Conventionally, however, the term is used primarily to refer to those waves producedby mechanical contrivances such as radio, TV, computers, power lines, etc. Whenevera person is in RESONANCE with an electromagnetic wave then the person absorbsenergy from that wave. If the wave contains enough power, it disrupts the energy systemof the person. Because the electromagnetic spectrum totally overlaps the energy spectrum of theperson any electromagnetic field can be harmful to any person. That is why HK considerselectromagnetic pollution the most serious problem on earth today. See DEGAUSS.

ELECTROMAGNETIC SENSITIVITY TESTHave the person touch bilaterally the points halfway between the stomach and spleenmeridians at the level of St 24. (It does not matter who touches the reflex points, it isjust that the Kinesiologist will be using both of their own hands for the testing).Simultaneously test an INDICATOR MUSCLE while moving progressively closer tothe person an electromagnet field (EMF) source. The distance to the electromagneticsource indicates the person's sensitivity. Always use the same source, such as an electric(quartz, battery) watch. When the person's electromagnetic sensitivity is normal even astrong EMF source will not weaken them. A typical client will initially weaken to theirown watch at a distance of 3 or 4 feet (1+ meter) or more.

ELEMENTHK uses seven-elements, based on the traditional five-elements, but calling theGoverning/Central meridians element 0 and splitting element V (fire element) into twoparts, V and VI. See HK SEQUENCE. An Element is also any of over 100 types ofatoms. Combinations of atoms make molecules or compounds. An atom is the "brick"of the physical world. TEST KITS used by HK may contain many elements, inhomeopathic form or in various concentrations of natural forms. Each atom, of course, has its own specific ENERGY PATTERN.

EMOTIONAL STRESS RELEASEThe traditional Emotional Stress Release is done by holding the frontal eminence points(on the forehead). These points are part of the NEUROVASCULAR REFLEXES forthe Central Meridian. In HK we always hold all the points on both COUPLEDMERIDIANS, and we do the same for ESR, simultaneously holding all five NV pointsfor Element 0 (Governing/Central Meridians). As these points are being touched theperson thinks about whatever is stressful. The stressor may be something from the past, the present, or in the future. The more real, vivid, and complete the thinking /visualization the more effective the correction. It is a good idea to have the person givea rating on a 0 to 10 scale of how stressed they are, 0 being no stress at all and 10 beingtotal panic. The stress rating is done both before the correction and afterwards. Note theperson does not have to reveal what the stress is.

EMOTIONSThere are four basic emotions: anger, sadness, happiness, and fear (or colloquially, mad, sad, glad, scared). Other concepts are generally feelings rather than emotions. This issomewhat arbitrary, but feelings are more closely related to the body while emotions aremore closely related to the mind.

EMOTIONS TRAININGAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Emotions Training is analogous to physical training(eg physical exercise), or mental training (eg schooling). In our society we are not givenany specific training in emotions so we learn emotions from observing role models (goodor bad) or from our unguided experiences. In Emotions Training we muscle test whichemotions are to be trained in which sequence and test for a practice schedule. The personthen practices on a daily basis in a particular way the appropriate emotions. Emotions hereis used in the popular sense; a better word is feelings.

ENDPOINTSEndpoints refers to both the beginning and end points of the meridian, as in HK wegenerally use both simultaneously.

ENERGY CORRECTION FACTORSThese are FACTORS which require ENERGY CORRECTIONS to change, asopposed to ADJUNCTIVE FACTORS. There are a number of ENERGYCORRECTION FACTORS: SYMBIOTIC ENERGY TRANSFORMATION™,PSYCHOLOGICAL, PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL, TISSUE ENERGYBLOCKS™, CONTROL SYSTEM, TEMPERAMENT, CULTURALDEMANDS™, ENERGY FLOW BALANCING™, and AGE IDENTITY™ (andothers), along with an unknown number of ADJUNCTIVE FACTORS.

ENERGY CORRECTIONSWhere ENERGY PATTERNS or unbalances are corrected through the use of reflexpoints, so that no further work is needed for that energy pattern, it is said to be corrected.HK does not use the term clear, as that term means to remove or to empty, neither ofwhich is what happens when energy is corrected or balanced. See ENERGY TUNING.Compare with ENERGY TONING.

ENERGY FLOW BALANCING™ Energy Flow Balancing is an ENERGY CORRECTION FACTOR. It includes BODYPOSITION MEMORY, CHAKRAS, SENSORY ENERGY FUNCTION, andCOGNITIVE SENSORY INTEGRATION.

ENERGY INTERRUPTERSAny substance which blocks the flow of energy is called an energy interrupter. Quartzcrystals are probably the best known, but most crystalline structures also work.Aluminum, elm wood, and many other natural molecular structures will interrupt orchange energies. In most cases any given substances will affect only certain energies, notall. See GEOBIOLOGY.

ENERGY MODELIn scientific terms a model is a theoretical structure which describes how somethingfunctions. The HK energy model was developed in 1982. This model describes whereenergy comes from, how it enters the body, how it flows in the body, what its purposeis, etc. This model explains many phenomena, ranging from hypnotic effects, toxicity, and healing reactions, to homeopathy and vaccination. Concepts such as over-energy,switching, and energy blocks are readily understood. A number of energy concepts weredeveloped at that time: energy pattern comparison, 'tuning' energy, meridian energylevel, meridian energy flow, energy transfer from meridian to tissue, tissue energy level, tissue energy flow, energy coherence, energy fluidity, energy coupling, and others. It wasalso determined how various energy manipulation techniques affected each of thesedifferent energy measures, allowing easy comparison of the effects of these procedures. This model allows easy understanding of OVER-ENERGY, SWITCHING,REVERSAL, and other related phenomena.

ENERGY PATTERNAn energy pattern is the characteristic array of energies associated with any given object, thought, or substance. Everything has its own energy pattern and so is distinguishablefrom everything else.

ENERGY REACTION TRANSFORMATIONAlso referred to as Reaction Transformation and is part of the energy CONTROLSYSTEM factor. If a person has an ALLERGY to something and the ALLERGYCORRECTION has been done, then the person's TOLERANCE is also likely toincrease somewhat. The TOLERANCE INCREASE procedure will likely increase thetolerance still more. To further increase the tolerance one can do this Energy ReactionTransformation procedure and actually change how the person reacts to the substance, resulting in still another increase in tolerance. This is not an energy CORRECTION,but rather a way to focus the energy for a particular purpose, just as in TISSUEENERGY MODULATION.

ENERGY REDIRECTION FACTORSSome HK techniques do not correct or tone energies, but rather the body is helped toredirect the flow of some energies in order to help achieve a particular goal. Examplesinclude TISSUE ENERGY MODULATION, ENERGY REACTIONTRANSFORMATION, and procedures used to help the body remove scars, lumps, reconnect severed meridians, etc.

ENERGY SPOTSAn energy structure in the shape of a column. The energy may be static, flowing alongthe column up out of the ground, or flowing into the ground. If the energy is flowingin a spiral then the spot is called an ENERGY VORTEX.

ENERGY TONINGAnalogous to muscle toning. Many K's do energy toning rather than corrections.Indications of toning include the necessity for homework, "corrections" not beingROBUST, or the use of exercises. Toning operates only in the meridian energy system, not directly in the tissue energies. Toning seems to affect energy coherence, viscosity, flow, and such. See ENERGY MODEL. Compare with ENERGYCORRECTIONS. See ENERGY TONING MOVEMENTS. Do not confuse withENERGY TUNING.

ENERGY TONING MOVEMENTSA series of movements, one for each meridian, used for ENERGY TONING. Theeffectiveness of these is not related to the physical movement involved, but rather onlyto the effects these movements have on various components of the energy system. Tissueenergy flow is not directly affected, ENERGY CORRECTIONS being required forchange. These movements are generally more efficient and effective to use than othertypes of energy toning procedures, as they were designed to accomplish certain specificchanges in the meridian energies. See ENERGY MODEL.

ENERGY TUNINGTo re-tune the energy circuit means to adjust the RESONANCE of the circuit so thatit is now operating properly, as it was designed. Most ENERGY CORRECTIONSdo this operation. Do not confuse with ENERGY TONING.

ENERGY VORTEXAn energy structure which has a spiral shape and has energy flowing along the spiral. Aspiral shaped structure in which the energy is not flowing along the spiral is called acolumn or spot. If the shape of the spiral begins in the center and expands outward in acounterclockwise direction (viewed from the top) it is called a counterclockwise vortexregardless of which direction the energy flows within the spiral - from the centeroutward or the reverse. The energy may have a positive or negative charge, and may alsoflow into or out of the ground. Vortices occur in any combination of these fourparameters, along with variations of size (diameter and number of turns in the spiral, width of pathway in spiral), intensity, and frequency. Depending on the various factorsa person may experience many different sensations when exposed to a vortex. Mostvortices range in size from 2 to 4 feet (60 to 120 cm) in diameter and usually appear inpairs with opposite direction spirals located perhaps an average of 15 feet (4.5m) apart.See ENERGY SPOTS, GEOBIOLOGY, COILS.

ETC.See OTHER.

ETHICSMost simply put, doing the right thing. In HK this includes adhering to the PRIMEDIRECTIVE and following the HK IMPERATIVES. Usually it is clear what theright thing is, but as all other professions have discovered, very difficult situationssometimes arise.

EXERCISEAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Three major types of exercise must be included in anyoptimum system: 1) strength building (for example, weight lifting), 2) bending andstretching (for example, Hatha Yoga), 3) aerobic (for example, rebounding). HK testingmethods allow the determination of the optimum type(s) of exercise in each category, the optimum intensity of each exercise, the best duration and time of day for each, etc.Optimization through HK maximizes benefit while reducing time and effort. Optimumhealing may require the lack of specific exercise. This is because exercise forces the bodyto use up nutrients which would otherwise be used for the healing process. Also, a givenexercise may physically damage the tissue if performed prior to adequate healing.

FACETA Facet is an aspect of some issue. HK recognizes five Facets, and uses them to helpinsure that ALL components of some energy disturbance are accounted for. By nature(?) we tend to think primarily of cause and process, especially with certain physicalcorrelates of energy disturbance. For example, with headache we attempt to balance theenergy to overcome the cause and to stop the process. If we overlook the other facets wemay not do a complete job, which includes prevention, also. The facets are: cause, process, effects, repair, and symptoms. Each facet has sub-categories. For example, cause might behistorical (the cause is over and in the past) or ongoing (still happening).

FACTOR A Factor is the name for a particular combination of operations (see POINTS-OPERATION MATRIX, P-OM), so it is just a shorthand way of referring to patternson the P-OM. All factors are listed in the ANALYSIS OF ISSUES diagram providedwith certain HK WORKSHOPS.

FEARAn unpleasant emotional reaction to something. We tend to avoid things we fear.Compare with PHOBIA.

FIGURE EIGHTSFigure eights are not used in HK because they are ENERGY TONING proceduresrather than ENERGY BALANCING. Most of their usefulness disappears afterMERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCING. See ENERGY TONING MOVEMENTS.

FINGER MODEA sign-language system whereby particular fingers touch specific points on other fingerswhile a muscle test is made. These are a shorthand representation for particular conceptsand are arbitrary. They work no better than the CLARITY OF CONCEPT by theuser. Chimps also use sign language. We spend most of our lives learning verballanguage, so why not use it? Properly used verbal questions are vastly more efficient andeffective than finger modes, so HK does not use them. Many HK procedures would beimpossible if restricted to finger modes or other simple reflexes.

FOOD COMBININGThe purpose of food combining is to minimize the stress on the person's energy systemby not eating combinations of foods which are stressful, or conversely, eating thosefoods together which improve the person's energy balance. There are two ways todetermine the best food combinations: 1) by asking the proper verbal questions of thebody, and 2) by TOLERANCE TESTING two or more foods simultaneously. Foodswhich the body cannot adequately tolerate will weaken / unlock the indicator musclewhen placed on Cv-6 and the TOLERANCE TEST SPOT (axis / atlas junction)touched. As always all the meridians are assumed to have been balanced prior to testing.

FOOD COMBINING CHARTA customized chart, determined through muscle testing, indicating for the client whichtypes of foods they may properly combine - eat together. The muscle test is done eitherby asking the proper verbal questions or by TOLERANCE TESTING two or moretypes of foods simultaneously. Eating improper food combinations is stressful to thebody, even though the individual foods may be OK.

GAIT REFLEXGaits are not used in HK because the need to balance the reflexes disappears when theperson is MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCED.

GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR ENERGY CORRECTIONSAll corrections follow a five-step procedure. 1) Balance the meridian energies, 2)Stimulate the function to be tested by exposing the person to whatever is indicated, whether it is a thought, allergic substance, movement, or any other operation (seePOINTS-OPERATIONS MATRIX), 3) Identify the disturbed circuit(s) byCIRCUMBILICATING, or by ASKing THE BODY, 4) Correct that energydisturbance by using the proper reflex points, and 5) Confirm that the correction iscompleted by retesting step 3).

GENERAL PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS REDUCTION PROCEDUREA large step beyond EMOTIONAL STRESS RELEASE, this technique tests, byASKING VERBAL QUESTIONS or CIRCUMBILICATING, which meridiansare affected by the stressor and which type of reflex point to use to correct the energydisturbance caused when the person is thinking of or experiencing the stress. As withESR there is no need for the person to reveal whatever is stressful. In most of HK thepractitioner tests to determine what is stressful (in order of PRIORITY and alwaysconfirming by TL'ing) because the person may not be aware of stressful underlyingprocesses.

GEOBIOLOGYAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. There are numerous energies present on the earth, bothnatural and human-made. Since these energies may RESONATE with parts of ourbodies they can affect us. GEOPATHIC energies are those which adversely affectsomeone by causing the person's energy patterns to break down, in turn producingsevere physical and psychological problems. In the 1920's it was definitivelydemonstrated that most cancer was caused by certain geopathic energies. Thousands ofcases have been documented of these energies causing any number of "diseases." HKrecognizes some 18 different types of geobiological energy and utilizes numerousmethods to neutralize their effects. In many cases the person cannot get healthy so longas they remain in the presence of geopathic energies. Geopathic energies can causeperfectly well done energy corrections to break down. Every health professional needsto know about geopathic stress.

GEOPATHICAny GEOBIOLOGY energy which is harmful to a person, animal, or structure is calledgeopathic. It is very important to note that any given energy may be geopathic to oneperson and not to another (see RESONANCE). Duration of exposure and the exposureto other energies partly determine if any given energy is harmful.

GIZMO™The Gizmo™ is a small disk-like proprietary device which is extremely effective inprotecting people from ELECTROMAGNETIC fields. It also virtually eliminates theeffects of jet-lag when worn while travelling. The device seems to be effective because itcan correct the disturbance in energy SPIN caused by the electromagnetic fields. Themanufacturer is located in British Columbia.

GOLGI (TENDON ORGAN)See SPINDLE CELL.

GROUP CORRECTIONSUsually done with PSYCHOLOGICAL corrections, this is accomplished by having anentire group of people think the same common thought while holding a series of points(usually all the END POINTS and all the NEUROLYMPHATIC pointssimultaneously). This results, through SURROGATE CORRECTION, in everyone(who needs it) being corrected at the same time.

GUARDINGA circumstance whereby the person is not responding to any muscle test. They appearstrong / locked no matter what test is done. This is most often an emotional response, and usually indicates that ELEMENT 0 is blocked or unbalanced. This may not bediscovered unless CONFIRMATION TESTS are performed. Also called armored orblocked.

HABIT CHANGEAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Maintenance of bad habits may be the greatest obstacleto health improvement. Many people must be helped to even discover their bad habitsand then to change them. An INDEX of how much effect bad habits has on the person'shealth can help put things in perspective. Of course, for this index a value of 0 is ideal.Testing can reveal which habits need to be changed, what might constructively replacethem, and other relevant aspects. Various procedures to help behavioral change can beutilized to help the person change.

HAND OVER THE NAVELWhen the palm of either hand is placed over the navel, the various reflex points relatingto each meridian are TL'ed. This means that one INDICATOR MUSCLE candetermine whenever any meridian is affected by some process. A given muscle is relatedto a specific meridian and when that muscle is tested in the clear, then only that meridianis being tested. With the hand over the navel, all meridians are being tested. The navelitself is ELEMENT 0, the Governing / Central meridians. One exception: in somepeople the Governing Meridian is best tested by TL'ing the upper lip, so generally bothlips are touched simultaneously (Governing and Central Meridians) to test element 0.Not all energy disturbances affect the meridians. See BBEI.

HARTMANN LINES (GRID)These are naturally occurring lines of energy on the surface of the earth, Running north-south and east-west, they are spaced about 2m between N-S lines and 2.4m between E-W lines at moderate latitudes. Alternate lines tend to have positive and negative electricalcharges respectively. These charges can change. Notice that where lines cross they canproduce double negative charges, double positive charges, or one positive and onenegative charge in the same spot. The direction of energy flow along the E-W lines istoward the sun; e.g. in the morning the energy flows to the east, switching to west atlocal noon. The flow along the N-S lines is more complex and is not fully understood. The width of the lines also varies and averages about 29 or 30 inches (75cm). They arenot necessarily geopathic. Natural or man-made structures can modify their direction, spacing, and flow. See CURRY LINES, LEY LINES, GEOBIOLOGY, andGEOPATHIC.

HEALING REACTIONSHealing Reactions, Healing Process, or the poorly named "Healing Crisis" all refer to thesame events. As energy corrections are made the body now can release toxic substances, utilize previously blocked nutrients, repair and rebuild tissues, and begin to functionwhere function was deficient. This maelstrom of healing activity now allows the bodyto exhibit SYMPTOMS, indicating the body is doing something it could not do before. These symptoms are the healing reaction. Most commonly there is a drop in experiencedphysical energy, with an increased desire to sleep. There may be assorted aches, pains,or other discomforts. Digestive "disturbances" are common. These symptoms of healingmay last from a few days to a few weeks, and may be reduced by certain other energywork. An excessive pace of corrections can exacerbate the symptoms to an intolerablelevel, so it is mandatory to follow the body's PRIORITY. Remember, symptoms arenot a sign that something is wrong with the body, but rather a sign that now the bodyis working on itself.

HEALTHOptimum Health occurs when every part of the body / mind / energy / spirit functionsas well as it possibly could for that person. The major goal of HK is to help achieve thisoptimum functioning. "Good Health" is one result of this process.

HEALTH KINESIOLOGYHK is a system of Kinesiology. Rather than a collection of techniques, it is a set ofCONCEPTS, an approach, to examining and analyzing energy and includes proceduresto balance energy under virtually any circumstance. As a system, HK is characterized byan underlying ENERGY MODEL and utilizes general procedures which apply toalmost any situation. As a result the techniques are extraordinarily powerful, effective, holistic, and very simple. HK began with explicit development in 1978, with the firstworkshops taught in 1981.

All these are self-describing and include the words energy balancing on the forms toemphasize that their purpose is to balance energy rather than to provide for the physicalneeds of the body.

HK IMPERATIVESThe HK Imperatives are: BALANCE, CLARITY OF CONCEPT, and askPERMISSION. See ETHICS.

HK LAWSThere are several immutable HK Laws. These are natural laws which have been

discovered and form an integral part of the use of HK. These Laws include:! We always do the best we can.

This means we do the best we can personally and we do the best we can given anylimitations presented by our client or the circumstances.

! There are no secrets.

This means that, 1) we do not withhold any information we obtain from our client. If there is anything we do not want to reveal to them we should not obtain theinformation in the first place, and, 2) although we are able to obtain all sorts ofinformation about our clients, but we do not do so without their permission. Wemust not invade their private space. ETHICS is a major topic in HK. See PRIMEDIRECTIVE and HK IMPERATIVES.

! Be Lazy.

Doing HK is very hard work, so do only what is necessary. Sit rather than stand, when you can. Do not do unnecessary corrections (see ...the best we can, above). Inorder to maintain our own LIFE BALANCE we must take care of ourselves, too,and this law means just that.

! There is always a way.

There is always a solution to any problem, no matter how difficult or vexing it mayfirst appear. Our own limits of imagination or belief are what keep us from findinga solution.

HK READING LISTThe reading list is divided into 18 categories. Suggestions include books which everyProfessional Kinesiologist should be familiar with along with other references forrounding out one knowledge in the various areas. References are mostly English withsome French and a few German titles.

HK SEQUENCEFor HK corrections it has been empirically determined that an optimal sequence existsfor energy corrections. This sequence is labeled Element 0 through Element 6, with theyang meridian being corrected prior to the yin meridian within each element (theCOUPLED MERIDIANS). This is the HK Sequence:

HK TRAINING PROGRAM RECORD BOOKA booklet for students to keep track of all their professional training in Kinesiology. There are sections for HK WORKSHOPS, Other Kinesiology workshops, OtherProfessional Workshops, and HK Procedures for which an AUTHORIZED HKINSTRUCTOR has examined the student's experience and knowledge.

HK WORKSHOPSThis refers to 1) a listing of the more than 20 offered HK Workshops, and, of course,2) the Workshops themselves. The first four are considered as basic (required beforeother work is undertaken), the next thirteen as intermediate, and there are currently fiveconsidered as advanced. Others are being developed. Combinations of these aresometimes offered as longer workshops.

HKPAPERS™These are special homeopathic-like papers which can be used for testing and correctingALLERGIES. For example, the candida Albicans HKPaper™ is used to correct theperson's allergy to candida so that now the body may fight off the fungus.

HYPERTONIC MUSCLESMost hypertonic muscles are corrected with MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCINGand so are not of concern to HK. It has been observed that if hypertonic muscles remainafter meridian balancing, then there is usually some metabolic problem with the muscletissue which needs correcting.

INDEXA numerical rating of some function of interest. For 'good' things, 100 is optimum and0 is the worst possible. For example, the best sleep index is 100. For 'bad' things thereverse is true - 0 is ideal and 100 is the worst possible. For example, the best stress indexis 0. Index measures were built into HK from the very beginning in the late 1970's.

INDICATOR MUSCLEAn Indicator Muscle is any convenient muscle which is tested while ASKING VERBALQUESTIONS or TL'ing. In HK it is always assumed that the person is MERIDIANENERGY BALANCED prior to any other testing.

INDIVIDUALITYSee NORMAL.

INFORMATIONAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Information refers to obtaining any sort of informationfrom the BODY. A special use is PATTERN FITTING.

INTELLECTUAL FUNCTIONINGHow well a person is functioning intellectually. An INDEX of 100 means the personis functioning at their optimum, while an index of 50 indicates they are functioning atonly one half of optimum. This index is not an indication of how intelligent they are.Correction of the proper ITEMS, which can be from any factor, usually allows theperson to achieve the maximum 100.

INTELLECTUAL FUNCTIONING INTEGRATIONThere are many components of INTELLECTUAL FUNCTIONING. An INDEXmeasures how well those components are working together as a team. Any deficienciescan usually be totally corrected.

INTENTIONAn effect of the desire or expectation of the person doing the muscle testing producingthe result obtained. This is a two edged sword: it means we can test with the intentionof some interference being ignored - allowing us to proceed - or because of ourconscious or unconscious desires we bias the results. The intention effect probably worksthrough the SUBTLE ENERGY BODIES.

IONIZING RADIATIONHigh (physical) energy level particles or rays (eg X-rays, cosmic rays, or gamma rays) canbreak apart atoms or molecules, forming ions. GEOPATHIC energies can includeionizing radiation. Obviously, if molecules within the body are ionized, physical damagehas occurred.

ISSUEThe name of any "problem" or other matter for which we wish to correct the energypatterns. This might be "migraine headaches," "dancing better," "whatever my bodyneeds," or anything else. See ANALYSIS OF ISSUES.

ITEMAn item is one single correction. Doing one set of reflex points along with its associatedoperations (see POINTS-OPERATIONS MATRIX). It is also a particular singleADJUNCTIVE FACTOR operation (eg doing an AFFIRMATION).

KINESIOLOGY FEDERATIONThe officially recognized professional federation of all Kinesiologies (except thoserestricted to licensed professionals) in the United Kingdom. A model for otherkinesiology organizations. It represents kinesiology within the EC (Common Market)structure developing in England.

LEY LINES See CURRY LINES, HARTMANN LINES, BLACK LINES, GEOBIOLOGY.

LIE DETECTIONMuscle testing is not a lie detection test. Muscle testing only detects stress in the energysystem.

LIFE ATTITUDELife attitude is an ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. These attitudes are subtle, yet preventsome people from progressing as they might otherwise. These especially include certainexpectations we have about others. For example, that someone else should respect us orbe considerate, or such. If these expectations are not met we are stressed. Corrections arenot needed at this point (this is adjunctive) so awareness and behavioral change areutilized. As usual, testing determines which attitudes are the relevant one in this case, exactly what to do, etc.

LIFE BALANCEHow the various factors in ones life are in, or not in, balance. An INDEX of 100 is idealand means that all the various relevant factors in life are in optimum balance. Suchfactors include PLAY, EXERCISE, WORK, REST, diet, and so on. Too much or toolittle of any factor will reduce Life Balance. Optimum health cannot be obtained witha Life Balance which is too low. Likewise, high Life Balance means that stress is low.Testing can indicate which factors need improvement and what to do improve them.

LIFE TRANSFORMER™A proprietary product which emits specific energy patterns worn in order to support, and eventually help balance, people's energy in some particular ISSUE. For example, there are LT's for Getting Unstuck, Overcoming Fears, Expressing Myself, Smoothing theEmotions, and many others. The LT for Protection from Geopathic Stress seems also tocorrect problems with the energy SPIN. People who wear LT's report great benefit.

LIGHTLight is energy. In HK we use light as an ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR and also forENERGY CORRECTIONS. We might use white light, polarized light, ultravioletlight, or various colors, either on the entire body, some particular part of the body, theeyes, or any reflex point. Multiple combinations might be needed. Light and colors maybe needed for GEOPATHIC corrections (in the environment).

LIGHT-DARKA part of ENERGY FLOW BALANCING, SENSORY ENERGY FUNCTION,vision. This is a correction for the stress which can occur when the light changes frombright Y dark or bright Z dark. This can be abrupt or gradual, and can include only achange of brightness rather than complete darkness.

LINKED-OPPOSITESA psychological item in which some unobtained psychological goal is blocked by somestressor. For example, in free & indecisive the goal of being (without stress) free isunobtainable because of the stress of being indecisive. See STRUCTURE OFPSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMS.

MAGNETIn a properly balanced and functioning muscle, the north-seeking pole of the magnet willweaken / unlock the muscle when placed over the body of the muscle. This is probablydue to the effect on the SPIN of the energy. The north-seeking pole forces the energy tospin clockwise and the south-seeking pole will force the energy to spin counterclockwise. Also, the magnetic fields will deflect the path of the energy flow. Furthermore, in thecase of HAND OVER THE NAVEL the magnet can be placed over the body of anymuscle and the indicator will still weaken / unlock, so this is always preferred. SeeMAGNET POLES.

MAGNET POLESIn HK the terms south-seeking and north-seeking are used to describe which pole of themagnet is which. The north-seeking pole of the magnet will, if freely suspended, pointtoward the magnetic north pole of the earth. These terms are used because which poleof the magnet is called the north pole of the magnet varies by convention in certaincountries, and so is confusing unless that information is known.

MECHANISM CONTROLA procedure under the CONTROL SYSTEMS factor with four subcategories: feeling, experiencing, knowing, and behaving. Each subcategory has its own special set of reflexpoints and each item corrects a specific NUTRIENT BLOCKAGE in a particulartissue. This very powerful technique is often the first PRIORITY correction.

MERIDIAN ENERGY ANALYSISAn entire system of determining which components of the meridian energy system needto be worked with. There are hundreds of components, including each meridian, theflows between each of the meridians, the various energy qualities within each segmentof the meridian system, etc. See ENERGY MODEL. ENERGY CORRECTIONSdone this way are extraordinarily powerful.

NORMALNormal is not the same as whatever is common or typical. For example, the elevatedblood pressure commonly observed in older people is not normal even though mostpeople show it. It is just that most older people are well less than optimally healthy.Normal means conforming to what is appropriate for the particular body, and whetherthat is higher, lower, or equal to the average is irrelevant. Roger Williams, for example,in his work on biochemical individuality showed that two organisms can have abiological need for any given nutrient which are many fold different. Only if eachindividual receives their own required amount are they healthy, even though one mighthave a requirement many times higher than average. This same concept of individualityapplies to every aspect of a person, not just to nutrition. This is partly why HK is sopowerful - everything we do is specific for the particular individual and only for theindividual.

MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCEDThis means that the energy in the meridians is balanced, and certainly does not indicatethat all the person's energy is balanced. When the latter state is achieved then we haveno more work to do as Kinesiologists! See BALANCING AROUND THE NAVELand BALANCING TAP. When the meridian energy is balanced, then each meridianhas the same level of energy, even though that level may not be optimum. See OVER-ENERGY. Unless the meridians are balanced it may not be possible to obtain correct answers. It is easy to demonstrate that muscle testing responses can change after all the meridiansare balanced, even though the INDICATOR MUSCLE itself seems to be functioningproperly.

META-ANALYSISMeta-Analysis is an approach to ANALYSIS OF ISSUES which uses the concepts ofSUBTLE ENERGY BODIES as a framework. In the primary analysis there are sevenlevels (body, feelings, emotions, mind, behavior, energy, spirit), each with threecomponents (level of functioning, degree of integration, amount of blocking). There arealso secondary analyses, indicating the degree of integration between any two of theseven levels, tertiary analyses using three of the seven levels, etc. When use of thisapproach is indicated it is especially powerful and simple.

METABOLIC RESERVEOnly after the person's NUTRIENT LEVEL has reached optimum, INDEX 100, canthe body store away nutrients as a reserve. As a specific nutrient reaches Nutrition Level100, the Metabolic Reserve has a Index of 0. As the body stores away the extra amountsof the nutrient the Metabolic Reserve climbs to its optimum level of 100. Consideringall nutrients, certain ones may be less than the optimum Nutrition Level while othernutrients may have been stored as Metabolic Reserve, so it is possible that a NutrientLevel can be, say 95, and the Metabolic Reserve 23. A low Metabolic Reserve indicatesthat a person should not engage is much vigorous activity because the reserve will beused up and once any nutrient drops below the 100 optimum level the body is physicallyharmed. Likewise, maintaining a Metabolic Reserve of all nutrients will prevent anyphysical damage regardless of the degree of stress (physical trauma excluded, of course).

MIRRORSJust as mirrors reflect light they reflect certain other energies. In GEOBIOLOGY, then, mirrors can be used to reflect away adverse energies. Great care must be used to insurethat these reflected energies do no harm elsewhere.

MISCELLANEOUSSee OTHER.

MODESee FINGER MODE

MY NAME IS ...As one CONFIRMATION TEST of initial meridian balancing, while being muscletested, the person is asked to say, out loud, "My name is {their real name}," followed by"My name is {made up name}." It is important to note that a person might be stressed, and muscle test weak / unlocked, by their own name, so this is not the only test used. Itis most effective when a person is experiencing muscle testing for the first time, as theresult has great impact on such a person. It is not correct to have the person say onlytheir name "{real name}" or to say "I am {real name}," as the meanings of these are quitedifferent. The HAND OVER THE NAVEL procedure is always used to insure thatall meridians are being tested.

NAVEL REFLEXESAround the navel, in a radius of about 1 to 1½ inches (3 to 4 cm), is a series of reflexpoints which relate to each of the ELEMENTS. The navel itself is element 0, and theothers are in position at the tips of an imaginary five-pointed star, with elements VI andV (same spot) directly above the center of the navel. Upper left of the star (right side ofbody) is element I, lower right of the star (left side of body) is element III, etc. SeeBALANCING AROUND THE NAVEL.

NEAR-FARA part of ENERGY FLOW BALANCING, SENSORY ENERGY FUNCTION,vision. This is a correction for the stress which can occur when a person changes fromlooking at something near the face to something far away, such as looking from anotebook to the blackboard. Looking near Y far might be stressful and looking near Zfar might not be, or vice versa. This procedure confounds focus and convergence, andcorrects both.

NEUROLYMPHATIC (NL) REFLEXThe NeuroLymphatic reflex is a connection between the nervous system and the lymphsystem. Stimulating the proper neurolymphatic reflex area will change lymph flow andcan balance energy. The traditional method of stimulating the NL reflex is to massagea specific reflex area for a given muscle on a particular meridian. This can becumbersome, especially when the reflex areas are very tender (common) and many ofthem have to be done sequentially and repeatedly for further corrections. HK usesanother approach: for each meridian a certain best NeuroLymphatic reflex has beenidentified and when just this one spot is touched, simultaneously with its NLCORRESPONDING POINT, then it is the equivalent of massaging all the NL's forthe entire meridian. The ease and effectiveness of this approach is remarkable.

NEUROLYMPHATIC CORRESPONDING POINTIdentical to an ENDPOINT, but only one end of the meridian need be touched(bilaterally, though). It does not matter which end of the meridian is used, so it usuallyis the one which is most convenient. See NEUROLYMPHATIC REFLEX.

NEUROVASCULAR (NV) REFLEXA neurovascular reflex is a connection between the nervous system and the circulationsystem. Stimulating the NV reflex can increase blood flow in a specific area and unblockenergy flow. Most NV reflex points are located on the head.

NO-NO FOODSA comprehensive list of foods, herbs, additives, beverages, and condiments used toindicate to clients which foods they should not eat. This is used both for ALLERGYfoods and non-nutritive "foods" such as sugar, or TOXIC substances such as artificialcolors, etc.

NOTATIONHK uses a short-hand notation system for record keeping. This is because 1) it is veryimportant to keep complete records of what occurs in a consultation session; 2) we donot want to take up a lot of the client's time making notes; 3) since we refer clients toeach other we need to be able to read the other consultant's notes; and, 4) in handoutand other printed materials the notation saves otherwise extensive explanations.

NUTRIENT BLOCKAGEThe circumstance whereby a specific nutrient 1) may be present but cannot be taken intothe cell, or 2) may be inside the cell but its metabolism is blocked so that effectively thebody is deficient. Nutrient Blockages are very common and may be due to severalprocess: 1) physical trauma, 2) allergic reactions, 3) toxic substances blocking thereceptor sites, 4) psychological effects, or 5) other as yet undiscovered effects. In any caseall these processes disturb the energy which in turn causes the Nutrient Blockage. Severaltypes of CORRECTIONS fix these energy disturbances: SYMBIOTIC ENERGYTRANSFORMATION, TISSUE ENERGY BLOCKS, MECHANISMCONTROL, PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL, or certain PSYCHOLOGICALcorrections. Each works in a different manner, in a different part of the structure of theenergy system.

NUTRIENT LEVELA combination of the presence of nutrient levels in the body and their being available toany cell needing them. An optimum amount of nutrients may be present in the body butNUTRIENT BLOCKAGE may prevent their availability to certain cells, either in aspecific tissue or more generally in the body.

NUTRITIONAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Nutrition covers the determination of 1) theTOLERANCE the person has for each food, 2) the person's optimum diet, includingFOOD COMBINING, the number and size of all servings of food and liquid, and allother details needed for the person to eat optimally, and 3) NUTRITIONALSUPPLEMENTS, which provide what the body needs and is not able to obtain fromthe diet. In each case the purpose is not to provide for the body's needs, but rather toprovide whatever energy is needed to obtain or maintain the body's energy balance.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTSAny substance not obtained from the diet but which is needed to obtain or maintain thebody's energy balance. A given person may need vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, enzymes, tissue extracts, herbs, or any other substance which needs to be taken bymouth.

OCULAR LOCKOcular Lock disappears after proper MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCING, sotherefore is of no concern to HK.

OPTIMUMThis is the very best amount of something, neither too much nor too little. When anINDEX is used the Index will be 100 (for good stuff) or 0 (for bad stuff). Any amountmore than or less than optimum will lower the index. This also means "the best possible."compare with ADEQUATE.

ORDER OF PRIORITYWhen all work on someone is done ITEM by item (or perhaps a subgroup of items),in the person's order of PRIORITY, then whatever the body says to do next is what isdone. This order is always determined through testing, not through the person'sconscious desires. Compare with PROBLEM SOLVING. See ANALYSIS OFISSUES.

OTHERThe ANALYSIS OF ISSUES category used whenever no named option is indicated. This category acknowledges that we do not know everything and are prepared to explorethe unknown and our ignorance. This also means "none of the above" when variousoptions are tested. I believe that no other Kinesiology has such a category. The wordsMISCELLANEOUS or ETC. are also used.

OVER-ENERGYWhen any meridian or tissue area has more energy (a higher level of energy) thananother, then it is said to have over-energy. Since the meridian energy operates in a see-saw fashion, then any over-energy means that some other meridian must have a lowerenergy level, or under-energy. Only energy level is of concern here, but in a trulybalanced system other qualities must also be in their proper state. Overenergy occurswhen the flow of energy through the meridian or tissue is blocked or impeded, causingit to "pile up," much like a dam holds back water. Downstream there will be an under-energy condition. Most of the time only one correction is needed to unblock over-energyeven if there are several such blockages. With under-energy several corrections are usuallyrequired. See SWITCHING, REVERSAL, ENERGY MODEL.

PAIN CORRECTIONAs with other HK ENERGY CORRECTIONS pain must be stimulated in order tocorrect it. Since we do not want to over-do it, we have the person generate mild pain,do the reflex points, repeat with stronger pain, etc. HK pain corrections are so good thatwe usually can totally eliminate the pain, but we do not reduce pain until we areabsolutely sure of the cause and that the person is dealing with the cause. If the pain iseliminated but the cause is still present there is danger the person will injure themselves.

PAST LIFE ANALYSISUsing Kinesiology to determine details about what is interpreted as a past life. Note thatthere are alternative explanations for what many consider to be past lives.

PAST LIFE DISCONNECTShould it be interpreted that some past life is the reason for some current stress, then acorrection can be done to disconnect this past life stress from now.

PATIENTA patient is someone who has given over responsibility for their health to someone elseand who often accepts whatever is recommended without question. HK teachesresponsibility for oneself, so there is never an HK patient. Compare with CLIENT.

PATTERN FITTINGPattern fitting is the comparison between some type of energy pattern within the personand either another person or other situation. For example, we can compare people forenergy compatibility (for working together, romantic, etc.). This can include anysubcategory, too, such as communication, spirituality, and so on. We can comparepeople with a particular job to see how well suited they are for the job, or a particularaspect of the job. Geographic fitting refers to how well suited a particular place is for theperson to live, work, raise a family, or any other interest.

PATTERNSWhen a series of ITEMS is determined from an ANALYSIS OF ISSUES there is quiteoften a pattern, theme, or some type of symmetry within a group of items and alsoacross groups of items. Observation of these patterns can lead to greater understandingof the person, reduced time spent in analyzing the issue, and far greater overall efficiency. For example, groups of related items usually need exactly the same type of reflex pointsand elements. Adjacent items or groups may be opposites. Several psychological itemsmay have the exact same wording except for the verb (I must ...; I will ...; I need ...;etc.). The STRUCTURE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMS is an example, also.

PAUSE LOCKPause lock is not used in HK because measurements indicate that pause lock averages onlyabout 85% as effective as the regular way of doing HK corrections.

PERMISSIONOne of the HK IMPERATIVES. Before any testing session (and sometimes within thesession) there are four muscle-testing questions which are asked: 1) Can I? (Am Icapable?), 2) May I? (Do I have simple permission?), 3) Should I? (Is it appropriate todo so?), and 4) Is there any reason not to? (Have we overlooked something?. The HealthKinesiologist always obtains conscious consent also before working with anyone andalways is willing to fully inform the person about anything observed or discoveredthrough muscle testing. Anything inappropriate to communicate to the person isinappropriate to test.

PHANTOM SENSATIONSPhantom sensations are usually known as phantom limb sensations, but these can occurin various ways not associated with a limb. For example, same women have phantomuterus sensations after a hysterectomy. The person can feel pain, tingling, vaguediscomfort, numbness, and a sense that the tissue is still there even though it is not. These can be very disquieting, sometimes severely affecting the person's life. Thecorrection is to the energy CONTROL SYSTEM, and often must also include PAIN,PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL, or SCAR corrections.

PHOBIAAn extremely strong FEAR, which often causes a panic attack when thought about. Aphobia is usually considered to be irrational, meaning there is no obvious reason for theextreme fear.

PHYSIOLOGICAL AGEThis is the age of the person's body in terms of how well their physiology works. Aperson who is not very fit may have a physiological age some years older than theircalendar age. Likewise, a very healthy person might have a physiological age yearsyounger than the calendar age. See PSYCHOLOGICAL AGE.

PINCH / UNPINCHAs one CONFIRMATION TEST of initial MERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCING,while being muscle tested, the SPINDLE CELLS in the body of a muscle are gentlypinched (squeezed together). In an energy balanced system the muscle will weaken /unlock. When unpinched (stretched), the muscle will be strong / locked. The HANDOVER THE NAVEL procedure is always used to insure that all meridians are beingtested. When doing so, it does not matter which muscle's spindles are used, as the muscle

test will indicate disturbance in any meridian.

PLATESCertain types of GEOPATHIC energy may be neutralized by the use of large metalplates. These metal plates are usually placed as low in the building as possible, usuallymade of galvanized steel, and usually are placed in pairs oriented at right angles to eachother. See GEOBIOLOGY also.

PLAYAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. The essential ingredient of play is the quality ofspontaneity. Doing what one wants to do when one wants to do it is optimum play. Avery important aspect of LIFE BALANCE. Most busy Professionals have a very lowplay INDEX.

POINTS-OPERATIONS MATRIXA chart indicating all possible reflex points (9 categories) and all possible operations (7categories). Various combinations of reflex points and operations allow us to correctliterally any possible energy disturbance. Frequently occurring patterns are given nameswhich are called FACTORS or subfactors. Any number of operations might becombined in any one correction (large numbers are called SUPERSTUFF corrections). This matrix has been part of HK since the beginning and earlier versions were firstpublished in 1985. Indeed, the logic behind the P-OM is what allowed HK to bedeveloped, making it the essence of HK.

PREDICTWithout reference to any current conditions if one concludes that something will happenat a future time then that is a prediction. For example, "Next Thursday you will slip ona banana peel and break your leg." Compare with PROJECT. Prediction is not anappropriate use of Kinesiology.

PRIME DIRECTIVEAs Health Kinesiologists:

We never impose our own expectations, ideas, beliefs, desires, or ignorance on

others. We always strive to maintain complete objectivity and neutrality.

We observe whatever is rather than finding what we expect.

We use every opportunity to VALIDATE what we observe to make sure we

maintain objectivity.

PRIORITYThe rank of importance to our body. The first priority ITEM is the one mostimportant to correct first. HK recognizes that the determination of priority isdirectly related to our own (lack of) knowledge and ability to use Kinesiology. If weonly know five things, one of those will be the "first priority." If we know 500things that same "first priority" might be priority 400. This is partly why fullCERTIFICATION IN HK requires extensive reading and training in areas otherthan HK. We want to develop as large a TOOLBOX as possible.

PROBLEM SOLVINGWhen work is done on someone with the goal of solving some problem, then theproblem solving approach is used. For example, suppose a person wanted helpfeeling less stress when making a public speech. "Making A Public Speech" becomesthe problem to solve and is also referred to as the ISSUE. The ANALYSIS OFISSUES is done with this issue and each correction within the issue is done inORDER OF PRIORITY. Furthermore, the corrections are only done when thebody agrees that it is OK to do so. This example is one where the person brings inthe issue, but most often the next priority issue is determined by HK muscle tests. The problem solving approach perhaps should be used with caution since it mightbe misconstrued as diagnosing or treating a disorder, which requires a Professionallicense in many jurisdictions. For the most thorough problem analysis the variousFACETS should be considered.

PROJECTGiven the current state of certain variables, and making some ASSUMPTIONSabout how they change over time, one may project the state of those variables atsome future time. For example, one may project the date of onset of menstruation(and we assume that the woman's life will proceed 'normally' until then). Comparewith PREDICT. A skilled Health Kinesiologist can usually do this reasonablyaccurately.

PROOFThe 'evidence,' however trivial, that something you already believe is true. SeeUNPROVEN, SPONTANEOUS REMISSION, and BELIEF SYSTEM.

PSYCHOLOGICALLoosely used to mean that for Psychological corrections the person thinks a particularsomething. If other operations are involved also, a different name is given thecorrection. Most corrections are Psychological.

PSYCHOLOGICAL AGEThe age of the person with reference to some psychological variable. For example, one measure can start age 0 at when the person made their decision as to what "theirplace in life is." This psychological age can be any chronological age (calendar age) andmay progress slower or faster than the calendar. In this example a particular personmay never make that decision, and so, in that sense, is not born yet. SeePHYSIOLOGICAL AGE.

PSYCHOLOGICAL OPPOSITESIn a dictionary opposite means words which have meanings which are at the otherend of some dimension,. For example, weak is the opposite of strong. Withpsychological opposites the meanings are determined by the person's psychologicaldynamics, so that the opposite of strong might be unloved. Opposites such as this arefrequently important in PSYCHOLOGICAL ENERGY CORRECTIONS.Commonly both words weaken / unlock the muscle when tested, indicating theperson is STUCK in some psychological way.

PYRAMIDS

All shapes and forms have energy qualities, pyramids being no exception. They seento be able to amplify energies, both adverse and beneficial. In GEOBIOLOGY wemight find them useful but only after the adverse energies are under control, orelse we might make things worse. Unknowledgable experiments with pyramids canbe detrimental to the body's energy system.

PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICALA mind-body connection correction which includes 1) thinking a particularsomething, 2) touching the body in specific spots, and 3) holding the proper reflexpoints. This correction can release NUTRIENT BLOCKAGES, too.

PULSINGWhen TOUCHING REFLEX POINTS, one begins to feel pulsations under thefingertips. As touching continues, the pulses become more regular and smooth, andfinally become synchronized. At this time, the correction is complete for thesepoints. It is probably better to hold the points slightly longer to help make certaina ROBUST correction is achieved. Just after this time a DEEP BREATH,YAWN, or SIGH occurs with most HK consultants. With GROUPCORRECTIONS or whenever more than one person or energy circuit is involvedthere may be a series of deep breaths (one for each energy circuit, in each person)so it is important to be able to recognize the "last one." The pulse is not related tothe heart beat.

QUARTZ HALOGENOften a very white light is needed. Sunlight is the standard for white light but is notalways available. Since glass does not transmit ultraviolet light very well, and due toother physical chemistry effects within the light bulb, a standard incandescent lampdoes not produce very white light. A quartz halogen lamp is the whitest lightavailable inexpensively. Quartz halogen lamps are superb for use inCOLORTHERAPY.

QUOTIENTSee INDEX.

RADIONICSRadionics uses special instruments for REMOTE TESTING and REMOTECORRECTION of ENERGY PATTERNS. Although traditionally there hasbeen the use of the pendulum or of special rubbing plates to determine the properenergy patterns to set up with the machine, more recently, Kinesiology has also beenused.

REACTION TRANSFORMATIONSee ENERGY REACTION TRANSFORMATION.

REACTIVATIONAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Sometimes all the energy corrections arecompleted with someone but their system just does not seem to respond and heal.It is as though the ON switch needs pressing. Reactivation is just for that purpose. Most often it involves some sensory experience (such as taste, smell, etc) done at aparticular time of day over some days.

REACTIVE MUSCLESSee SPINDLE CELL.

REFLEX EVALUATION POINTSPreviously called Reflex Identification Points (REP sounds better than RIP). Theseare special points which, when touched, indicate that the person needs to have held, under the current circumstances, a specific type of reflex point. Bilateral points mustbe touched simultaneously. These points are shown in the chart:

REFLEX EVALUATIONPOINTS

Reflex Point Type AcupointActivation St-27½ BilateralEndPoints K-14 Bilateral

NeuroLymphatic St-26 BilateralNeuroVascular Cv-11 Midline

Sedation St-18 Bilateral

REMOTE CORRECTIONRemote correction is when the subject (person or animal), after having beenREMOTE TESTed, has ENERGY CORRECTIONS applied indirectly (as inRADIONICS), through the person doing the SUBSTITUTE TESTING. Notall corrections can be applied remotely, since, for certain types of corrections, thereis the requirement that both the energy pattern of the subject and the physiologicalpattern of the subject be in precisely the proper state. HK factors which include thisr e q u i r e m e n t i n c l u d e T I S S U E E N E R G Y B L O C K S ,PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL, certain ENERGY FLOW BALANCINGcorrections, and a few others. With Radionics, then, there is the same limitation inthat the energy pattern is broadcast although the physiology may not be in theproper state.

REMOTE TESTINGRemote testing is when a subject (person or animal) is tested in absentia, withSUBSTITUTE TESTING, the energy connection being made remotely throughthe substitute. This is a special skill and not just anyone can do so successfully. SeeREMOTE CORRECTION.

RESONANCEWhen two objects or energy systems vibrate at the same frequency they resonate. When one is vibrating the second absorbs energy from the first. They then tend tobecome synchronous, or vibrate in step with each other. At the resonant frequencyis when the maximum energy transfer takes place. See ELECTROMAGNETICand GEOBIOLOGY.

RESTAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. HK distinguishes restful from rest. If a person hasbeen sitting a long time, then exercising can be restful, but is not rest. Likewise, sleep may provide some rest, but its quality is not the same as true rest as used here.Rest means that the person disconnects from the world mentally and substantiallyphysically. As long as the brain is engaged in dealing with the world the body isforced to utilize its resources to do so, whereas when the person is truly resting thebody has little to do except take care of itself. This means that optimum healingtakes place during optimum rest. Of all the FACTORS, rest is probably the mostimportant.

REVERSALReversal occurs when the meridian energy flow is blocked sufficiently that the energycannot flow through the obstruction as fast as it accumulates, causing it to flowbackwards, much like the tide flowing up a river. See SWITCHING, ENERGYMODEL, OVER-ENERGY.

RIDDLER POINTSThese are reflex points on the body which correspond to specific nutrients. HK doesnot use these points because they are not adequate. This is because 1) the reflexpoint can indicate the need for a specific nutrient but not whether the person shouldactually take it; 2) the point cannot determine which brand or form of the nutrientwill best meet the person's need; 3) a form which is toxic or to which the person isallergic will still be indicated as meeting the person's need; and 4) there are nutrientswhich do not have known reflex points. For example, in 1) above, a person may bebetter off not taking ionized calcium, even though they need it, if they have a severecase of Candida albicans. In 2), is brand X as good as brand Y? Is that syntheticversion really as good as the truly natural form? Will bone meal (complexed)calcium really work as well as the (ionized) calcium lactate? In 3) the person mightbe allergic to the excipients but the calcium still might meet the persons needs. HKwill not suggest any nutritional supplement for energy balancing unless the energyis 100% OK for the person.

ROBUSTAn ENERGY CORRECTION done so completely and thoroughly that not onlyis the correction finished, but also it is extremely resistant to breaking down againwith no further work or effort. HK corrections are robust.

RODSRods are long metal bars generally made of iron, galvanized iron, or copper. Anappropriate length of the proper diameter is driven into the ground at precisely thecorrect spot to block certain GEOPATHIC energies. Typically, seven or so eightfoot long, three/fourths inch diameter, iron (rebar, reinforcing rod for concrete) barsare driven in the ground 12 feet from the side of the house. All of the parametersmust be tested.

SCAR CORRECTIONThere are two types of scar corrections: 1) to allow the energy to properly flowthrough the scar, and 2) to allow the body to begin to dissolve the scar. Both typesare accomplished by working within the ENERGY CONTROL SYSTEM. Thefirst requires the person touch the scar is a very specific way while the reflex pointsare done. The second may require such touching, in a different way, and might alsoinclude nutritional changes, TISSUE ENERGY MODULATION, or other work.

SCHUMANN WAVESThese are five naturally occurring ELECTROMAGNETIC waves which humansneed to have present. Many modern buildings block out or distort these waves andso contribute to GEOPATHIC stress. Installing a simple "antenna" for these wavescan reduce the geopathic stress. Their frequency is very low: 7.8Hz, 14.1Hz,20.3Hz, 26.4Hz, and 32.5Hz. NASA spacecraft have artificial Schumann wavegenerators on board.

SEDATION POINTSThese are Acupuncture reflex points which will sedate or decrease the energy in aspecific meridian. There are points for each meridian. The HK Sedation - ActivationPoints handout lists and illustrates each of the points, including element 0,Governing / Central meridians, not shown on other charts. Compare withACTIVATION POINTS.

SELF ISSUESThere are some 22 Self Issues. These are one of the types of STRUCTURE OFPSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMS, and includes such categories as Self Image, SelfKnowledge, Self Worth, and so on. WORD LISTS contain many pages of thePsychological Items which constitute the Self Issues.

SENSITIVITIESAn imprecise word describing the fact that some people react in some particular wayto some substance. The person may be ALLERGIC, have an INTOLERANCE,or have a disturbed ENERGY CONTROL SYSTEM. This disturbance, in turn, can cause the person to seem to react to substances, but in reality it is the person'sdelicate energy system being disturbed by most anything.

SENSORY ENERGY FUNCTIONA part of ENERGY FLOW BALANCING, this section includes the traditionalfive external senses: vision, audition, gustation, olfaction, and cutaneous, plus theinternal senses: kinesthetic and sensory feedback. There are many sub-categories foreach. The ANALYSIS OF ISSUES handout includes a complete listing. SeeCOGNITIVE SENSORY INTEGRATION.

SEQUENTIAL PINCH TESTThe sequential pinch test is a simple method to determine which muscle is correctedfirst with a REACTIVE MUSCLE correction. Each of the two muscles is pinched(over SPINDLE CELL area) in rapid succession, immediately followed by amuscle test with any INDICATOR MUSCLE. Whichever sequence weakens /unlocks the Indicator is the sequence which will correct the reactive muscles. Thecorrection consists of 'doing the spindles' for the first muscle followed immediatelyby 'doing the spindles' for the second muscle. 'Doing the spindles' usually means toPINCH the spindles over most or all of the body of the muscle. There are occasionswhen the muscles are UNPINCHED instead.

SETSee SYMBIOTIC ENERGY TRANSFORMATION™.

SEXAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. As with the other adjunctive factors an INDEXcan be determined and the optimum quantity and or quality of sexual activity canbe tested for.

SICKNESSSickness occurs when the METABOLIC RESERVE (or any single component ofit) drops to the zero level, allowing the NUTRIENT LEVEL to drop below the100% optimum level. Any number of ENERGY FACTORS can contribute toNUTRIENT BLOCKAGE, thus effectively causing a nutrient deficiency withinthe tissue even though the nutrients are available in the body. In this sense our onlyreal goal for the physical body is to make sure that all required nutrients are presentin adequate amounts and that they are available to every cell.

SILENT QUESTIONSThis refers to ASKING VERBAL QUESTIONS of the body, but asking thequestions silently so that there is no question heard by the subject. This can be doneaccurately by a skilled Kinesiologist, but for development of good skills it is farbetter to always ask questions out loud.

SLEEPAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. As with the other adjunctive factors an INDEXcan be determined and the optimum quantity and or quality of sleep can be testedfor. This can include total hours of sleep per 24-hours, amount of napping, if any,and the best time of day for each to occur, etc. Also, the quality of the bed itself canbe determined along with how much effect this has on sleep.

SOUND THERAPYAnalogous to AROMATHERAPY or COLORTHERAPY. Sounds, as anADJUNCTIVE FACTOR, whether music, tones, or otherwise, can have strongeffects on people. Testing determines which sounds, how intense, how often, orother parameters. Sounds are also used in many other procedures includingREACTIVATION, ENERGY FLOW BALANCING, SUPERSTUFFCORRECTIONS, and others.

SPINAs energy flows through the system, it rotates or spins. A counterclockwise spin iscalming, relaxing, (and usually) balancing. A clockwise spin is stimulating, exciting,(and often) unbalancing. The direction of energy flow is not related to the directionof the spin, and these are often confused. MAGNETs, certain LIFETRANSFORMERS™, and GIZMOs™ all can affect the energy spin, as canMERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCING. Note that the BALANCING TAP isdone in a counterclockwise direction and that the HK SEQUENCE is in acounterclockwise direction around the navel. Spin corrections are part of the energyCONTROL SYSTEM procedures.

SPINDLE CELLThe spindle cell is a specialized nerve-ending cell in the body of the muscle whichsends to the brain information as to the length of the fibers in the muscle and therate of change of that length. The Golgi Tendon Organ is located in the tendon andresponds to the tension in the muscle. When the muscle is shortened, especially whendone rapidly (as when contracting or PINCHed), the rate of nerve impulses isreduced, reducing muscle tone (weakened / unlocked) while simultaneously exciting(increasing tone in) the antagonistic muscles. This is called the Dynamic or NegativeStretch Reflex, and is usually stronger than the ordinary or Static Stretch Reflexwhich acts to oppose the stretch of the muscle (while inhibiting antagonisticmuscles). The reverse is true when the muscle is lengthened (relaxed orUNPINCHED). The Golgi responds with a burst of nerve impulses at the onset ofmuscle tension, reducing this impulse rate to be proportional to muscle tensionwithin a fraction of a second. This action acts to inhibit this muscle withoutinhibiting other muscles. These functions of the spindles and golgis are partly whymuscle testing must not be done abruptly. When the coordination of these variousimpulses gets confused so that one muscle cannot quickly react after tension isreleased on another muscle (whether antagonistic or not) then these are calledreactive muscles. There are also several other types of sensory cells used to supportthese functions, too.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICEAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. One can test for which, if any, spiritual practicesmight be appropriate. Spiritual practice might include meditating, going to a certainchurch, listening to specific music, or other process.

SPONTANEOUS REMISSION When someone gets well and their recovery is not explainable in your BELIEFSYSTEM, then spontaneous remission is the cause of their recovery.

STRUCTURE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMPSYCHOLOGICAL ITEMS can be categorized by the actual type of grammaticalstructure used in developing the item. By determining the structure of the item (bytesting) less effort is needed to discover the content of the item. For example, if thestructure is a Self-Issue, then it is known immediately that the item is one of only 22different topics and that a WORD LIST exists which gives most of the items likelyto be needed. This is a dramatic narrowing of the possibilities from the possiblerange of human experience. There are at least 17 basic structures, some of whichhave additional sub-categories. Some of the structures are: Gerund, Being / NotBeing, Phobias, Imperative, LINKED OPPOSITES, Concept / Experience, andothers.

STUCKPeople become stuck when they develop simultaneous opposing pairs ofPSYCHOLOGICAL energy items, so that no matter which choice they make theyare highly stressed. For example, being happy, and not being happy, or work and play. When a person has a number of such conflicts they tend to become depressed anddevelop "low energy." These are not the same as PSYCHOLOGICALOPPOSITES.

SUBSTANCE PLACEMENT AREAThe substance placement area is the Central Vessel 6 Acupoint, located just below thenavel. A substance is placed over or near this area for ALLERGY TESTING,ALLERGY CORRECTION, TOLERANCE TESTING, and TOLERANCEINCREASE.

SUBSTITUTE MUSCLE TESTSee SURROGATE.

SUBTLE ENERGY BODIESThere are seven traditional subtle energy bodies: Physical, Etheric, Astral, Mental,Causal, Budhic, and Monadic. These are progressively less physical and morespiritual. In HK some other closely related concepts are used because peopleunderstand them better: (in the same order) Body, Feelings, Emotions, Mind,Behavior, Energy, Spirit. Some people feel that the connection with the person weare testing comes through the subtle energies. Most Kinesiologists probably workin the astral level which is full of emotional junk, time distortions, and otherobstacles. Far better is the development of skill to the Budhic level, perhaps bestcharacterized by the term intuition. Certain types of correction procedures are usedto connect the various energy bodies properly. See META-ANALYSIS andINTENTION. The HK READING LIST has many references.

SUPERSTUFF CORRECTIONAlthough, from the very beginning, combinations of operations were used forcorrections (inherent when using the POINTS-OPERATIONS MATRIX), asuperstuff correction is the name given to the process when a large number ofoperations are used at once. Sometimes as many as 40 or so items from the TESTKIT might be used simultaneously, plus thinking something and a body position.Doing one ITEM this way might take the place of 50 or more items when doneindividually.

SURROGATE CORRECTIONEveryone who is touching the subject during a correction (helping using energyreflex points) also receives the correction, providing the person needs that correctionand exactly the same reflex points. If the helper does not need the correction thenthere is no special effect on that person.

SURROGATE TESTINGBoth surrogate and substitute mean to take the place of. With surrogate testing the(properly functioning, balanced) muscle of person 2 (the surrogate) is used to testperson 1 (the subject). Whatever is the energy state of the subject will be exactlyreflected in the muscle testing of the surrogate. If the subject is unbalanced,GUARDING, or cannot respond for any reason then the surrogate also will notrespond. A substitute muscle test on the other hand, although it looks the samesuperficially, allows us to ASK VERBAL QUESTIONS of the subject and obtainanswers that surrogate testing will not allow. In short, surrogate testing produces theexact same responses as the subject and substitute testing is used to ask verbalquestions of the subject.

SWITCHINGSwitching is deduced when the observation is made that when the tester tests onearm of the subject the result is the opposite of when the other arm is tested. Also, when the tester changes from testing with one arm to testing with the other arm theresults are opposite. This means that either the subject or the tester is switched. TheHK ENERGY MODEL readily explains this phenomena. It occurs when there isblocked or restricted energy flow in the meridian causing the energy to back up,temporarily flowing backwards (see OVERENERGY and REVERSAL). Thisreversed flow continues until it either is able to dissipate (by diffusion through themeridian walls into the tissue) or is shunted off into a meridian collateral. Whenflowing through the tissue or the collateral the 'wrong' energy goes to the wrongplace, causing the error in testing. This effect only occurs when the meridian is notMERIDIAN ENERGY BALANCED and the concept is, therefore, of noconsequence to HK since it disappears with the required initial meridian energybalancing.

SYMBIOTIC ENERGY TRANSFORMATION (SET)™SET consists of two major sections: 1) ALLERGY TESTING and ALLERGYCORRECTION and 2) TOLERANCE TESTING and TOLERANCEINCREASE. The SET allergy technique works 100% of the time. It is possible tocorrect every allergy for someone at once, in just a few minutes; however, mostbodies cannot handle so much energy change at once and so great care must be takento correct only by body priority, at the proper pace, sometimes allowing severalweeks or months between corrections. HEALING REACTIONS are common, but are reduced when large numbers of the proper substances are correctedsimultaneously. SET works exactly the same way for TOXIC substances as it doesfor allergies. Because the SET procedure is so extraordinarily powerful, thetechnique is only taught in the context of a workshop where comprehensiveinstruction can be given.

TEMPERAMENT FACTORThe fixed or habitual ways a person responds to life. This may be innate or learned, but is deeply ingrained and may be unconscious. It does not reflect an arbitrary orconscious choice. Corrections usually include both thinking and doing somethingwhile the points are held. For example, think: being obedient while standing in acorner.

TEST KITA source of ENERGY PATTERNS which are compared to the energy patterns ofthe person we are working with. HK test kits are used for both correcting energiesand for testing for allergies, intolerances, and toxicity. They contain a very largevariety of materials: hundreds of homeopathic and nosode substances; hundreds offlower and other essences; aromatic etheric (essential) oils; crystals and gem stones;Life Transformers™; a white light source, color filters, light polarizing filters; foods, pollens, chemicals, animal materials (hair, feathers, etc.), dust, soil samples, etc.;elements; woods; "cosmic batteries"; energy representations of various healing andenergy concepts; magnets; sound sources; tissue extracts; herbs; and othersubstances. See COLOR THERAPY, SOUND THERAPY,AROMATHERAPY, and SUPERSTUFF CORRECTIONS. There can neverbe a complete test kit because everything has its own energy patterns, and the purposeof the test kit is to provide whatever energy pattern one needs for testing /correction. As a practical matter, we mostly need those things which people contactin their lives. The more items in the test kit the easier it is to do fewer corrections. The test kit is part of the TOOLBOX.

THOUGHT STOPPINGThis refers to any of a number of techniques to help people stop thinking certainthoughts or saying certain phrases. For example, suppose someone was in the habitof saying to themselves "I can never get well." This rather negative attitude willinterfere with healing, so replacing it with another, positive, thought can help them.Part of this necessary HABIT CHANGE could be to have them wear a rubberband on their wrist, snapping it each time the negative phrase was said or thought. This has the effect of reducing the rate of their saying it. Just after the snap theywould then say something like "Of course I can get well!" These are very effective, laboratory verified, procedures which do work. There are others, too.

TIME CONSTRAINTOften a correction will trigger HEALING REACTIONS or other changes whichrequire that the body take a certain amount of time to complete. The body simplywill not be ready for further corrections, either generally or of a particular type, untilthis time period has passed. This time constraint, or waiting period, must be testedfor and observed in order not to over-stress the CLIENT. This effect is particularlypronounced with SYMBIOTIC ENERGY TRANSFORMATION™ corrections, but may occur with any type correction.

TISSUE ENERGY BLOCK™A circumstance whereby the energy does not flow properly through the tissues, asopposed to through the meridians. This may have resulted from physical trauma orother energy disturbance. It always indicates a NUTRIENT BLOCKAGE. TissueEnergy Blocks are corrected by having the person precisely touch two different areason the body while the proper reflex points are held.

TISSUE ENERGY MODULATIONSometimes a person may desire that some physical part of the body be changed. Todo so is possible but may be slow, because it rarely is a PRIORITY for the bodyitself. This is not an energy correction, but rather an instruction to the body that itfocus energy in a special way to accomplish a particular goal. For example, a personmight wish to reduce wrinkles on their face, eliminate a scar, or a woman mightwish to develop larger breasts. Tissue Energy Modulation is part of the CONTROLSYSTEM FACTOR.

TL See TOUCH LOCALIZE.

TOLERANCEWith ALLERGY any amount of a substance will disturb the person's energy, butwith Tolerance the energy is disturbed only when the person is exposed to someamount larger than their tolerated amount. This tolerated amount may be large orsmall and may be determined by testing varying amounts in sequential tests. Themuscle will be strong / locked with an amount lower then the tolerance level andwill be weak / unlocked when the amount exceeds their tolerance level. Tolerancefor foods is recorded on the NO-NO FOODS list for the CLIENT.

TOLERANCE INCREASEAn improvement in how much of a substance (food, pollen, chemical, etc.) a personcan be exposed to without stress. Most TOLERANCE increase is accomplishedthrough change of lifestyle, diet, etc., but the tolerance increase procedure will mostoften provide an initial improvement. The TOLERANCE TAP typically worksabout 60% of the time and results in an average of some 600% improvement, andthe SET tolerance technique works about 90% of the time with an averageimprovement of about 900%, although in many cases the result is that there is nopractical exposure limit. The TOLERANCE TAP was designed for lay people (seeDr. Scott's book Cure Your Own Allergies in Minutes) and the SET procedure wasdesigned for professionals and is only taught in the context of a full workshop.

TOLERANCE TAPThe method described in Dr. Scott's book Cure Your Own Allergies in Minutes forimproving the tolerance to many substances (TOLERANCE INCREASE). TheTolerance Tap is used, where possible, to increase the persons TOLERANCE to asubstance. This is done in the same manner as the ALLERGY TAP except that asElement II points are tapped the person holds their hand over the navel area and asElement IV points are tapped the person holds their hand over their lower left ribcage. The Tolerance Tap will improve tolerance to any given substance about 60%of the time. Tolerance improvement averages about 600%, but can be much greater. This process retunes the energy system so that the person is now more tolerant tothe substance.

TOLERANCE TEST SPOTThe tolerance test spot is the atlas / axis junction, at the top of the neck /base of theskull. See TOLERANCE TESTING.

TOLERANCE TESTINGThe tolerance test is done by placing a substance on the SUBSTANCEPLACEMENT AREA, touching the TOLERANCE TEST SPOT, and muscletesting an indicator simultaneously. A weak / unlocked muscle indicates that theamount of the substance exceeds the persons tolerance level (compare withALLERGY). This tests the tolerance to a substance at this moment. Proper verbalquestioning can help determine the persons longer term exposure level. For example, that the person can tolerate 3.5 ounces (100 gms) of watermelon at a time, twiceper week, can easily be determined. This means that the body will not be stressedso long as the watermelon intake is less than or equal to the tolerated amount. SeeFOOD COMBINING, however.

TOOLBOXA collection of CONCEPTS, techniques, procedures, general knowledge, andmechanical TOOLS with which we work. The bigger the toolbox the easier thework. There is very little in HK which requires mechanical tools, but their use savesconsiderable work.

TOOLSA tool is anything, including your head (mind) and hands, which might be used foreither energy corrections or adjunctive purposes. Tools include magnets, light /color, sound, essences, homeopathic substances, aromas / etheric oils, LifeTransformers, crystals, etc. These might be used alone or in conjunction with eachother. Their use in corrections can be indicated in the POINTS-OPERATIONSMATRIX. Combining appropriate tools provides more benefit in a correction thanthe sum of their parts, and such combining has been a distinguishing characteristicof HK from the beginning.

TOUCH LOCALIZING (TL)To touch localize or TL, one muscle-tests while a reflex point, energy circuit, or tissuearea is being touched by someone in some particular way. Generally it does notmatter who does the touching or how the spot is touched. This is in contrast totherapy localizing, challenging, or circuit localizing, and in a sense covers all theseconcepts. Exceptions to this generality include TISSUE ENERGY BLOCKS,PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL, and SCAR corrections, where the person musttouch themselves in precisely the correct manner. PHANTOM SENSATIONSsometimes have this requirement.

TOUCHING REFLEX POINTSTouching Reflex Points is most often needed to accomplish ENERGYCORRECTIONS. The proper reflex points (such as NEUROLYMPHATIC,ENDPOINTS, SEDATION POINTS, etc.) are gently touched (possiblyrequiring a specific finger(s) on a specific hand or a particular body posture such asstanding or sitting). As touching continues PULSING occurs. Unless their handsare otherwise occupied the subject / client, the Kinesiologist, or most anyone elsecan hold the points. Points may also be held on a surrogate (See SURROGATECORRECTION and GROUP CORRECTION). Each pair of reflex points isheld, in turn. Of course, the HK SEQUENCE is always followed.

TOXICAny chemical substance which interferes with normal cellular metabolism. Thissubstance can be either material foreign to the body, such as a drug or vaccine, ora normally occurring metabolite. SET, MECHANISM CONTROL, andTISSUE ENERGY BLOCKS are the most frequently used procedures to triggerdetoxification.

TRIGGERSometimes a process in the body needs a "jump start." One such circumstance iswith certain types of metabolic disturbance so that taking large amounts of aparticular NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT will force that process. HKcorrections (see NUTRIENT BLOCKAGE) to release a toxin or enable ametabolic process will usually do the same without taking the large amounts of thesupplements. Also, sometimes it is necessary to do one correction to release a toxinfrom certain tissues so that it may be collected later to do an SET correction. In thiscircumstance the second correction must be done within a specific time window -waiting at least a certain time interval but not more than some other time interval. With PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTOR corrections the process of thinking of theitem while the reflex points are being held can trigger a series of mental events. These might be old memories, related thoughts, or seemingly unrelated thoughts, but each of these are triggered by the energy changes happening through the reflexpoints.

TYPICALSee NORMAL.

UNDER-ENERGYSee OVER-ENERGY

UNPROVENSomething you do not believe, regardless of the weight of the evidence. SeePROOF, SPONTANEOUS REMISSION, and BELIEF SYSTEM.

VALIDATION1) The use of various procedures completely outside of Kinesiology to demonstratethat results obtained through Kinesiology are, in fact, correct. 2) WithinKinesiology, showing that independent measurements, by different people, are thesame. 3) Showing that results expected from the use of Kinesiology are, in fact, obtained. No one approach to validation is adequate and various methods must beused together. HK constantly emphasizes the requirement for validation.

VISUALIZATIONAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Testing is done to determine whether somevisualization is appropriate or not. If so, then the exact scene(s) are determined, theduration, frequency, and best time(s) of day, approximately how many days, and anyother aspect are determined. After the person practices the visualization some, andperiodically thereafter, an INDEX of effectiveness can be done. The visualizationis continued until testing indicates it is no longer beneficial. For most people thescenes are visual, but some people practice using a verbal description of the scenebecause they cannot actually visualize adequately (yet). The person must be testedto determine that the visualization does not stress them. If it does then correctionsare made before they begin to use the visualization.

WALLSWhen a wall is physically placed is such a position that GEOBIOLOGIC energyflows up the surface of the wall certain characteristics of the wall can disturb thatenergy flow causing GEOPATHIC energy. The wall must either be moved ormodified by removing the wall paper and replacing it with another, changing thecolor on the wall, or other operations to change the energy flow. The texture of thewall paper or other surface is the key to smooth energy flow.

WELLNESSA state of existence in which the person is functioning well energetically, physically, psychologically, and spiritually. With high-level wellness the person does not get sick, copes with the world effectively, and is happy and satisfied. This does not meanthere are no problems, but these are dealt with effectively. Such a person keeps theirenergy well balanced. Compare with SICKNESS.

WHAT TO WEAR / WHAT TO BRING This is a handout sheet given to new clients to explain what to do for the first testingsession and what to bring for their allergy testing session.

WHYHK does not ask Why questions because 1) it is not necessary, and 2) one cannotVALIDATE or know that the answer is really true. There is always another Whyafter any answer which is obtained, and the exercise ends only after the person and/ or Kinesiologist finally receive an answer which they "want" to hear.

WORD LISTSAfter learning how to do PSYCHOLOGICAL or certain other types of items, alisting of possible terms used to construct the items can save considerable time.Currently there are about 250 Gerunds, 450 Nouns, and 800 Feelings. These areroot terms, and various prefixes and suffixes are added as appropriate. All termscame from actual client work. There are very few Psychological concepts notincluded on these lists. Also, there are some 22 pages of SELF-ISSUE items. Insome cases almost all known complete items are included on the list; for exampleMECHANISM CONTROL and BBEI.

WORKAn ADJUNCTIVE FACTOR. Testing is done for the person's work limit andOPTIMUM amount for each of several types of work plus the optimum totalamount of work per week. The Work INDEX should be 100. Most Professionalshave a somewhat lowered Work Index because they work too much. Work mostlyis 'doing things which have to be done.' Contrast with PLAY and REST.

YES / NOAs one CONFIRMATION TEST of initial MERIDIAN BALANCING, whilebeing muscle tested, the person is asked to say, out loud, "Yes" and then "No." Witha balanced energy system the yes should test strong / locked, while the no should testweak / unlocked. The HAND OVER THE NAVEL procedure is always used toinsure that all meridians are being tested.
