SYSTEM DESIGNGyrodata’s GEMS survey systemprovides a vast improvement in theaccuracy and reliability of magneticsurvey instrumentation by employ-ing the latest technology, including:■ Tri-axial magnetic and gravity

force-field sensors.■ Solid-state electronic data acquisi-

tion and processing.■ Special data verification and

performance modeling proceduresand techniques.

GEMS consists of a downhole sensorand electronics package, powered bya battery pack in the single or multi-shot mode, or electric wireline forsteering tool operation. Data is down-loaded at surface to a laptop comput-er, or read real-time with a Driller’sConsole during steering.

FEATURES■ Saves time and eliminates reliability

problems of film-based mechanicalsystems.

■ Provides continuous orientation ofcore barrels without stops to takedata.

■ Provides real-time reliable outputat surface with a Driller’s Console insteering operations.

■ Steering operation with a wirelinewet-connect eliminates side-entry subs.

■ Provides short-radius horizontalguidance with gamma logging andpressure detection.

■ Provides reliable guidance inair/underbalanced drilling andmud-loss situations.

SPECIFICATIONS■ Single/multishot probe:
