The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center has the largest Gynecologic Oncology program in Wisconsin, offering patients state-of-the-art care in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic cancer. Our gynecologic oncologists see more than 400 patients annually with common as well as rare gynecologic cancers including: • Cervical Gestational trophoblastic disease • Leiomyosarcoma • Mixed mullerian tumors • Ovarian Pseudomyxoma peritonei • Uterine • Vaginal • Vulvar Patients diagnosed with any of these gynecologic cancers are seen in our multidisciplinary clinic by a team of gynecologic oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors and health psychologists. Each patient is individually evaluated and treatment is tailored to each patient’s needs. In addition to treatment, the UW Carbone Cancer Center is committed to improving a woman’s quality of life and minimizing side effects while she undergoes therapy. Our gynecologic oncologists work collaboratively with regional medical oncologists regarding chemotherapy treatments, keeping patients close to home for therapy whenever possible. Gynecologic Oncology

Ahmed N. Al-Niaimi, MD

Dr. Al-Niaimi earned his medical degree from the University of Al-Nahrain, Iraq. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Among Dr. Al-Niaimi’s special interests are innovative surgical techniques, including single port laparoscopic surgery.

Lisa M. Barroilhet, MD

Dr. Barroilhet earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Her interests include minimally invasive surgery. Her primary research focus is on drug development.

Ellen Hartenbach, MD

Dr. Hartenbach earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She is board certified in gynecologic oncology, obstetrics and gynecology and palliative care. Her special interests include hereditary ovarian caner and psychosocial aspects of gynecologic cancer care.

David Kushner, MD

Dr. Kushner earned his medical degree from Wayne State University, Detroit. He is board certified in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics and gynecology. A leader in gynecologic oncology, Dr. Kushner has special interests in innovative surgical techniques, including laparoscopic, robotic and fertility-sparing

surgery and in improving quality of life for patients with gynecologic cancers.

Laurel Rice, MD

Dr. Rice graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is the chair of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology department. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology. Her special interests focus on molecular biology, the clinical

management of endometrial carcinoma and improving the quality of life for gynecologic cancer patients.

Stephen Rose, MD

Dr. Rose earned his medical degree at Indiana University. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology. He specializes in surgical and chemotherapeutic treatments of gynecologic cancers His research interests include quality of life issues for gynecologic cancer patients, gynecologic

survivorship and humor in medicine.

Medical Oncology

Howard Bailey, MD

Dr. Bailey graduated from medical school at the University of North Dakota and is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. His research focuses on developing and testing new agents for preventing and treating cancer with a special interest in gynecologic and soft tissue

malignancies.

Radiation Oncology

Kristin Bradley, MD

Dr. Bradley earned her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin. She is board certified in radiation oncology. Her areas of interest include gynecologic malignancies, pediatric malignancies and lymphomas.

Bethany Anderson, MD

Dr. Anderson earned her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin. Board certified in radiation oncology, she specializes in gynecologic and breast malignancies.
