History of GML

• original school founded in 1961

• in 1996 moved to the current modern building

GML

• "Gymnázium of Mathyas Lerch" abbreviated to GML

• nearly 800 students and 80 teachers• all three types of study - 8, 6 and 4 years• one of the most well known high schools in Brno

School system in Czech republic

Elementary school (6- eventually 11,13,15 years

old)

Gymnasium (study for 8 years, 6 years, 4 years) ->

depends on the age, when you leave elementary

school)

High school ( 4 years, mostly economical, nurse, IT, etc..,

with leaving exams)

Vocantional school ( depends on specialization, but mostly 3

years without leaving exams)

Matyáš Lerch (*1860- †1922)

• Famous Czech mathematician• Awarded for his lifelong work

on Mathematical analysism and number theory

Activities of school

• being a partner school of Masaryk University• reprezentation of Czech Republic in Model

European Parliament• participation in Modernization of Physics labs• annual championship in curling
