George3e  Yakman  is  the  founding  researcher  and  creator  of  STEAM  educa>on.  Driven  by  the  desire  as  a  parent  to  help  improve  educa>on  for  all.  George3e  obtained  a  Master’s  in  Technology  Educa>on  and  advanced  cer>ficate  in  iSTEMed  from  Virginia  Tech.  In  2006,  George3e  developed  the  STEAM  framework  as  a  way  to  show  the  'who  and  why'  context  of  the  humani>es  to  iSTEM's  'what  and  how’.  STEAM’s  adaptable  framework  for  educa>ng  connects  the  rapidly  changing  world  with  the  growing  number  of  educa>onal  disciplines,  standards,  communi>es  and  businesses  to  create  dynamic,  globally  responsible,  reality-­‐based  programs.  She  developed  the  STEAM  curriculum  to  fully  integrate  all  9  subject  areas  (Science,  Technology,  Engineering,  Social  Studies,  Language  Arts,  Fine  Arts,  Music,  PE  and  Maths)  for  comprehensive  STEAM  Educa>on  that  promotes  life-­‐long  FUNc6onal  literacy  for  all.  In  2007  George3e  began  prac>cal  implementa>on  with  middle  and  high  school  students  as  an  Engineering  &  Technology  educator.  She  was  first  published  in  2008  in  the  

Netherlands.  She  started  speaking  interna>onally  while  s>ll  maintaining  a  classroom.  As  interna>onal  regions  began  to  adopt  the  STEAM  framework,  George3e  became  a  consultant  helping  to  develop  programs  in  the  US,  Korea,  UAE,  Russia,  Qatar  and  China.    She  started  STEAM  Educa>on,  LLC  in  2009  to  train,  develop  and  foster  a  network  of  STEAM  educators  who  contribute  to  the  evolu>on  of  STEAM.    To  date  over  2000  educators  in  37  states  and  14  countries  have  gone  through  STEAM  Educa>on’s  professional  development.  George3e  has  been  recognized  by  many  groups  with  awards,  speaking  invita>ons,  interviews  and  ar>cles.  In  addi>on  to  teaching  and  STEAM  Educa>on,  she  has  worked  as  an  architectural  designer,  as  the  VP  of  a  Global  Clothing  Company,  and  entrepreneur.  She  holds  a  Clothing  and  Tex>les  B.S.,a  Technology  Educa>on  MaEd.  and  an  Integrated  STEM  advanced  post-­‐graduate  cer>ficate  all  from  Virginia  Polytechnic  Ins>tute  and  State  University.
