America the Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassioned stress,
A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America!
God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law! O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife, Who more than self their country love And mercy more than life!
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country love And mercy more than life! America! America!
May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears! America! America!
God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
Oh beautiful for halcyon skies For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties Above the enameled plain! America! America!
God shed His grace on thee, Till souls wax fair as earth and air And music-hearted sea!

When once and twice for man’s avail Men lavished precious life!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
Till selfish gain no longer strain The banner of the free!

Till nobler men keep once again Thy whiter jubilee!

BREAKING OUT (of jail?)
GWRRA North Carolina District Newsletter
Our gang’s escape has been well planned. No detail has been overlooked. The time is drawing near for the execution of the plan. The code name is “WINGS OVER CAROLINA”.
The detailed plans for the escape are encoded on our website http://www.gwrranc.org/index.htm. Guard this information with your life. Do not let it fall into hostile hands. The payoff for a successful escape is huge. We will finally get to see each other again! With few exceptions, we have been locked down to our individual chapters’ limited activities/rides. We will now be able to hang with gang members that we have not seen for a long time. This could escalate into a federal crime as we have heard that there will be gang members crossing state lines during this three-stage escape plan.
***********************************************************
Stage #1 - The excitement of the three Wings Over Carolina breakouts is first evidenced with the Eastern Getaway. Our first taste of freedom is a day for you and your chapter and friends near and far to gather at 52 Tobacco Rd, Rocky Mt, NC at 10:00 where the larger gang will organize for an escorted ride through the eastern countryside. KSU 11:00. This cathartic (invigorating, energizing, beneficial) ride concludes back at the Bryant’s (52 Tobacco Rd) where we will break bread (bring your own picnic) and fellowship. Yard games and board games will be available. More details are included in the flyer on our district website http://www.gwrranc.org/index.htm.
Stage #2 - The September 26th Western Escape promises to be both curvacious (back and forth with curves) and undulating (heaving up and down). It begins in Marion and encircles Lake James, concluding at Lake James State Park hideout with a bring your own picnic lunch. To keep the law off of our tails we have recently changed the meet up point. We were previously meeting at Loves’ Gas Station off of I-40. The meet up is now at 9:30 at the Rest Area on Hwy 221 By-Pass at the Tate Street interchange in Marion (this is the Marion Chamber of Commerce Tourist Information Center and Rest Area). Ride meeting at 10:00 o'clock AM with first KSU at 10:15 with small decoy groups following every 10 minutes or so. This ride is approximately 1.5 hours and includes one pit stop. It also has two cutouts that shorten the ride and still gets you to the picnic if you need or just prefer a shorter ride. More details are included in the flyer on our district website http://www.gwrranc.org/index.htm. Shortly, we will be adding to the website a map outlining the Western route and a downloadable GPS readable file (.GPX) that can be loaded into most GPS systems. There will also soon be added to the website maps and GPS readable files (GPX) of 4 optional self-guided bonus rides for those traveling between Lake James and the Waynesville area of the Smoky Mountains. These 4 rides will vary in technical difficulty and are entitled; Southern Comfort, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (I will let you figure out how to judge their technical difficulty).

Stage #3 – The final escape involves a getaway to hide out at Ground Hog Mountain off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Do not tell anyone that Ground Hog Mountain is in Virginia. We would not want that rival gang from Virginia to think that we are trying to muscle in on their territory. We will start off by meeting up in the parking lot across from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 164 Hanes Mall Circle in Winston-Salem at 9:30am with the ride meeting at 9:45 and the first group making a break for it at 10:00am. After a bring your own lunch ex-cons may split up and choose between two escape routes; 1) to go for ice cream or 2) take a ride to gander at the Mayberry sites in Mount Airy. More details are included in the flyers on our district website http://www.gwrranc.org/index.htm.
It is going to be great to see everyone.

Remember these dates for the 3 regional rides : Eastern, September19, 2020. arrive around 10:00am to 52 Tobacco Rd. Rocky Mount.
Western, September 26, 2020, Central October 19 2020. information and or Flyers can be found on the district web site. I hope and plan on being at all three if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise I will be there and will be glad to help in any way that is asked of me!
There has been lots activity in the eastern chapters riding, meet and greet sort of things only a couple of chapters with little to no activity. Some chapters like E2 Elizabeth City having meetings, (with no outside visitors) that is awesome!!!! Jeff and Tammy are just the best Cd's around! We are still dealing with Covid 19,20,21 and so on it has to be something like that so many people having different reactions to it there must be more strains of it ? I do not know for certain but sometimes people that get it that have other issues two weeks they are fine then someone that seems to be very healthy gets it and has big problems with it and vise-versa. So, no one knows if you are infected what category you will fall into so you must be careful. I have never been one to wish my life away but 2020! This has been one messed up year! I for one will be so glad to see it be gone and a vaccine soon! So, friends will feel comfortable about getting out and about. We also hope each and every one is safe and healthy just hang on nothing stays the same, sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. That's what my Grandfather use to say and it is true.
A little more thing about the Eastern Regional Wings Over Carolina September 19, 2020, Ride-In and Fun Day. Shirts look AWESOME! Getcha one or two. A day of bring your own Lunch, bring your own chair if at all possible, bring your own face covering, social distance will be up to you, do what you feel comfortable with! Cups, ice, sweet tea, un-sweet tea, water, popcorn, napkins/paper towels, hand sanitizer will be provided. Games and 50/25/25 will be played, there may be a few door prizes. All this for only nominal fee, a smile and a hello will get all that for ya! No hugs needed this time. I will take rain checks on all hugs and kisses! Linda said Whaaaaaat, hahaha! LOL! Ya'll come! Everyone will only have a good time if they bring it with them! So, Bring it!
One more tid-bit of business,. Eastern CD's if you have not turned your grand prize tickets in, please bring the unsold tickets and the money for the sold ones. Please bring them!

Hello Gold Winger
GWRRA North Carolina District Newsletter
Normally in the September Newsletter the District Staff would be throwing all the stuff at you about Wings Over the Smokies for the end of the month, but sadly not this year. The decision to cancel the rally this year was mainly to protect our members and to help keep you all safe.
BUT, we can boost about our 3 rides that will be coming up; the first in two (2) weeks with the Eastern part of the state planning an exciting day for us all. I would love to see many of you there.
The next week, September 26th, will be the Western Ride with what I have heard people say will be a big ride because they are going up that weekend. The ones that are planning that ride I am sure will show the members a great day.
Then comes the Central Ride on October 10th. We are planning an exciting day for everyone that day also so I hope you can come join us on all these rides.
BTW: I will have the Wings Over Carolina Shirts and Masks to give out at the Eastern ride so I hope you have ordered yours.
WHAT A YEAR THIS HAS BEEN is a phrase I have said to myself since March when the pandemic started. We can’t change what is happening to our cities, counties, state or world right now BUT next year in 2021 we can stand up and be proud that we have GWRRA and our family/friends to hang out with at our gatherings and rallies once again. I am a firm believer that this will happen if we all stick together and continue to care for each other. So renew your membership if it becomes due during this time so we can look forward to a better year ahead.
I have been in GWRRA for 35 years and I have made a lot of friends in North Carolina and all the surrounding states that I care for as my family. Even though I may not have spoken to you in a long while does not mean that I have not thought about you. I wish I could call everyone but knowing that time will not allow that, then know I will continue to keep each of you in my thoughts.
My love to each of you,Libby Jennings Central – Assistant District Director

Gifts on cycles for 2020 at JIRDC is canceled. They can, however, meet a motorcycle (and cars) parade (decorated for the season) at the entrance and escort us around the campus. To date their safeguards have resulted in no resident getting the “infection”. Date and time to be determined at a later date. I hope we can drop off donations at that time.

THE TRAIN
Hello everyone,
How do you start your morning? As for Charles and me, we have a cup of coffee on our carport. So GOOD!!! Freshly ground coffee beans makes all the difference. Charles is the coffee man!! Sue doesn’t make coffee….so there you go!!!
We live very near a railroad that is a main track for busy trains. Every morning we see the train pulling many cars with various loads; grain for chickens, turkeys, hogs, and other livestock in our area. Also, cars carrying military equipment, farm equipment, and anything that needs transporting from near and far. Whatever the need is the need is met.
Another train thought that comes to my mind. Charles’ Mother was a very unique lady. One of her most important life lessons, I must share with you. She said, ‘Sue, always remember that you have a little train that runs around in your head. It carries everything that you will need to know. But the one thing to always remember, if you can’t think of the answer immediately, you haven’t forgotten it, the answer is still up there and the train will make another trip around and bring it to the front of your mind so that you remember!!!!’ That is such a valuable lesson. Many times when a certain person’s name just will not come to your memory the moment you’re trying to think of it…….no worries…….that little train will come around and bring it back to you. Try it!!!! That little train also carries kind words, kind acts, right decisions, and what to do in every situation. Some things take time, wait for the train!!!!Love all of you,
Charles and Sue LangleyNC District MEPC
