David Hale struggled in his start for the G-Braves, yielding eight runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings…that included solo homers by Jordan Danks and Josh Phegley and a three-run triple by Luis Durango. Gwinnett climbed back to within a run with help from a two-run double by Jose Constanza, solo home run by Joe Terdoslavich and RBI single by Sean Kazmar. The G-Braves tied it at 8-8 in the ninth on Tyler Pastornicky’s two-out RBI double scoring Corey Wimberly, but the Knights won it in the 10 th . Tough Trip Continues: After starting off 4-0 at Coolray Field, the best start in the club’s five- year history in Gwinnett County, the G-Braves have dropped four-straight games on this seven-game, three-city road trip. Tonight’s Start: 34-year-old right-hander Tim Corcoran makes his

second start and appearance for Gwinnett in the finale of this two-game series at Charlotte. It is his 431

st career MiLB appearance, 58

th start.

Last Outing: Corcoran was sharp in his G-Braves’ debut on 4/7 vs.

Charlotte, firing 5.0 scoreless, two-hit innings to lead Gwinnett’s 6-2 win over the Knights. He walked four and struck out four, throwing 79 pitches, 46 strikes. The win was his first at the affiliated Triple-A level since 9/6/10, when he started and won for Albuquerque (LA Dodgers) at Round Rock…he threw 6.0 scoreless, five-hit innings in that victory.

Vs. Charlotte: He’ll face the Knights for the second-straight outing and

10th time in his career tonight. Corcoran is a combined 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA

(8 ER in 18.2 IP) in nine previous outings, including two starts. Eight of those games came as a member of the Durham Bulls from 2004-07 (0-1, 5.27 ERA). Corcoran has held Charlotte scoreless over his last four outings, 12.2 innings against them…the Knights last scored against him on 4/29/05 when he was with Durham (2.1 IP, 4 ER).

About 2012: The right-hander spent most of the year with the Delfines de

Ciudad del Carmen of the Mexican League, going 7-4 with a 2.50 ERA (32 ER in 93.2 IP) in 16 appearances (14 starts). His contract was picked up by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization after his 7/17 start against the Petroleros de Minatitlan. Well Traveled: After spending most of the 2012 season in the Mexican

League, Corcoran spent his offseason playing in the Dominican Winter League. In eight games with Aguilas Cibaneas, he went 1-1 with a 3.73 ERA (17 ER in 41.0 IP)…DWL opponents hit .242 (38-for-157) against him.

MLB Career: From 2005 to 2007, he made 40 appearances (17 starts)

for the Tampa Bay Rays. Corcoran’s Major League debut came with the Rays in 2005, when he went 0-0 with a 5.96 ERA (15 ER in 22.2 IP) in 10 games, including a spot start on 10/2/05 vs. Baltimore (ND, 4.1 IP, 2 ER). In 2006, he went 5-9 with a 4.38 ERA (44 ER in 90.1 IP) in 21 games, including 16 starts. Corcoran made nine more relief appearances for Tampa Bay in 2007, going 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA (14 ER in 17.1 IP).

Poveda was brilliant in his G-Braves and International League debut his last time out on 4/8 at Durham, a no-decision…he threw 6.0 scoreless, one-hit innings, walked two and struck out four, throwing 80 pitches, 44 for strikes…Durham went on to a 2-1 walk-off win despite his quality start. The Maracia, Venezulea native will take on both the Norfolk Tides and a Baltimore Orioles’ affiliate for the first time in his career tomorrow.
