March has arrived and “Let the Luck of the Irish be upon us!” Hopefully we have great weather, with NO FROST DELAYS, for all the exciting events we have coming up this month.
We started off March with another successful Solheim Event. Congratulations to all 52 players who participated and enjoyed the great competition. A big thank you to our Captains, Mary Cutlip and Kathy Cohen who cheered on their teams with good will and great libations!
I hope you are looking forward to the 3 Jills and a Jack Tournament. Chair Mary Terch and her co-chair Susan Flynn plus committee members have been working diligently to obtain great prizes, so don't forget to buy your raffle tickets today!
Finishing off the month we have our Ladies Member Guest.....only a few spots are left so hurry and STEP RIGHT UP so you don't miss out on "The Great Gallery Carnival".
Finally, thank you all who voted on the late fee dues change. With a total of 113 votes cast, the late fee charge passed with a vote of 93% in favor. Now, when LuAnne Johnson, our Membership Chair, comes around with membership forms, be sure to sign up right away! Remember, our goal is that we never have to charge a late fee, and we get our members signed up early for next season.
Come out and play on OUR day.....For the Love of Golf!

Rules by Nancy
Nancy Harris
During our President’s Cup match Patti Jubrias’s ball came to rest just off the putting surface among worm casts (little mounds of dirt made by the worms) and in her line to the hole. Could she remove those worm casts? Here is what the rule book says: 1. LOOSE IMPEDIMENTS are natural objects like stones, leaves, twigs, branches, dung, worms, insects and the casts and heaps made by them provided they are not fixed or growing, solidly embedded or adhering to the ball. 2. RELIEF - Rule 23 - Any loose impediment may be removed without penalty EXCEPT when the ball and impediment are in a hazard. 3. Sand and loose soil are loose impediments on the putting green only and may be removed without penalty.
The Gallery ladies have had a very busy month of inter club play and have been having great success and a whole lot fun. I had the opportunity to play at Ventana Feb. 1st and had a terrific time on a lovely sunny day. Cooler weather this past week forced a cancellation of the return visit to the Gallery for the Ventana Ladies.
Keep checking ForeTees for opportunities in March to play Ironwood or Catalina Cup. LaPaloma Home and Home is now open, so go to ForeTees and sign up for this fun, friendly event.
The Gallery Ironwood players are on a roll!
In February our members played at Starr Pass at the JW Marriott and Mountain View at Saddlebrooke and all of our players killed it! First Brenda Samis, Donna Moore, Jan Ali, Vivian Carr, Sue Hatfield and DJ Hammerschmitt rocked out 33 points and allowed only 21 points. Then the next week Donna Moore, Laurie Smith, Frieda Gutshall, Mary Cutlip, Rae Aust and Vivian Carr grabbed 32 points allowing their opponents only 22 points. If you have been reading the newsletter this season you may just have noticed a trend. Our players have mad skills!
This season through four play days, Team Gallery locked down 124-1/2 points and have given up only 91-1/2 points. That sounds like nothing but fun to us!
And did they win any swag? Oh yes they did! In total Gallery players contributed $420.00 toward the prize pools but took out $690.00! Maybe that is why they are all smiling in the photos.
We have two play days left before the final tally determines who claims the Ironwood Trophy for their locker room. Go to ForeTees to express your interest for March 12th at Skyline or April 3rd at Arizona National.
Let’s go Gallery!
The Catalina Cup players are rocking now! Following our most recent match at La Paloma, The Gallery is sitting in second place out of 10 teams. Thanks to all the women who have participated in our matches thus far.
We are just past the half-way mark in the Catalina Cup season. Looking ahead, we will play March 26th at Saddlebrooke and April 2nd at Mountain View/Preserve. We’re looking for 6 players with a handicap index of 26.0 or less who would enjoy some fun competition and meeting players from other clubs. We hope you will consider signing up!
The full schedule can be found on gwga.info. You may sign up for all events at any time. The team of 6 players will be selected about one week before each event.

State Medallion -‐ 2018
A sincere thank you to the GWGA for the privilege of representing The Gallery in the state Medallion Tournament. Though the day started out very chilly it turned into a fabulous warm sunny day in the 70’s. We loved the opportunity to get to know each other and our fellow-competitors from Tucson National. At the end of 18 holes we actually tied with them for first place in our flight! Thank you for your financial support, your best wishes before we left and for your congratulations after the event. Terri Camp and Nancy Harris

3 Jills and a Jack Charity Golf Event
Wednesday, March 14,2018
Raffle tickets NOW ON SALE! Raffle tickets are 5 for $25, 12 for $50 and 30 for $100
(Purchase with cash, check or member charge)
We are excited about the upcoming 3 Jills and Jack Tournament. We have a record field this year with 38 teams. Our goal for this event is to raise $10,000 or more for Casa de los Ninos. Their work with abused and at-‐risk children is making a huge difference in the Tucson area. Our donation will allow them to provide additional services for many of these children and their families.
One of the most important ways we raise money for this event is through the sale of raffle tickets. Make sure you purchase your raffle tickets prior to the event. Tickets are available in the pro-‐shop and will also be sold at Demo Day on March 3rd, Men’s member/guest party on March 7th and the morning of the event in the parking lot and at the registration table. Winning tickets will be revealed at the luncheon following golf. DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR TICKET TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZES!
The raffle prizes this year are amazing and include some of the following:
Rounds of golf at many courses in Arizona and around the country, golf lessons, fittings at the Tour Van, wine, restaurant gift certificates, overnight getaways, baskets, jewelry, beauty products, massages and so much more.
Lastly, watch for a new addition this year which will be a sealed silent auction. One week before the tournament, a few very special items, will be set up in the pro-‐shop. You can make your best bid on any of these exclusive items by completing a bid form, sealing it in an envelope and putting it in the bid vase. Bidding will close at 8:30 am the day of the event. The person with the highest bid on each item will be revealed at the luncheon. As a sneak preview, one of the items will be a Chef’s Table for six for Saturday, April 14th!!!!! Don’t miss checking out these awesome raffle items!
Looking forward to a successful event!
Mary Terch & Susan Flynn
