GUSTAR = TO LIKE
ONE THING = GUSTAMORE THAN ONE THING = GUSTAN
ABURRIR = TO BORE
ONE THING = ABURREMORE THAN ONE THING = ABURREN
INTERESAR = TO INTEREST
ONE THING = INTERESAMORE THAN ONE THING = INTERESAN
1)The verb Gustar and verbs like Gustar are often used according to the following pattern:
Indirect object pronoun + gustar + subject
• Me gusta la casa. I like the house.• Le gustan las manzanas. She likes the apples
*These are present tense but any tense can be used.
2)The indirect object pronoun refers to the person or persons who receive the action of the verb.
The indirect object pronouns are: yo = me nosotros = nostú = te
él,ella ud. = le ellos,ellas,uds. = les
3)To add emphasis, use a + the prepositional pronoun.• A mi me gusta el chocolate. I like chocolate. (a lot)• A ella le gusta bailar. She likes to dance. (a lot)
4)In case of le and les, to clarify the context, a él, a ella etc is used.
• A él le gusta leer. He likes to read.• A Uds. les gusta la fruta. You (pl.) like fruit.
