a new Euskara class for Children
Virginia Aramburu, working in conjunction with NABO, has volunteered to hold a level one Euskara class for
children. Virginia is a grammar school teacher and has a lot of experience teaching children. She has partici-
pated in the HABE program designed to train new Euskara teachers for the past two years and is ready to
start putting that training to use.
The class would be offered to children first grade and up. The goal of the class is for the children to finish the
first year with a basic, entry level understanding of Euskara. Although Virginia plans to make the class fun and
interesting, this is not a play group. Students will be expected to reinforce what they have learned during the
week. This is a great opportunity for our children, and is the first time we have been able to offer a lan-
guage curriculum aimed at our younger generation. Those interested should send Valerie Arrechea an email
at [email protected] letting her know: 1) Names and ages of your children, 2) What day of the week
works best for you (top 3 in order), and 3) What time is best for you. (morning, afternoon, evening)
We will coordinate with interested families to find a time that best suits the majority. Thank you in advance
for your interest, and thank you Virginia for stepping forward and offering us this exciting opportunity.

Please support the Women’s Club annual Christmas raffle and bake sale on November 18. Advanced thanks to those who will donate baked goods and items for the raffle. We also want to thank those who support us by purchasing raffle tickets. It is because of thoughtful members like you that we
are able to host so many events for our children.
Our annual Christmas celebration will be on Sunday, De-cember 16 and Santa will be coming to town. Parents can bring a present valued at approximately $15.00 for each of their children. Please write the child’s name on the package

As we get together to give Thanks with friends and family, remember this great Basque proverb about friendship. Adiskide onekin, orduak labor. Adiskide onekin, orduak labor. Adiskide onekin, orduak labor. Adiskide onekin, orduak labor.
With a good friend the hours are short.

As on all of our previous rides the weather gods were with us and it was a beautiful bike riding day. Two routes adapted to all biking levels: a 31
mile Bide Txiki an easier paced route and a 40 mile Bide Luze distance that added some steep climbs to make it a bit more challenging for the
others.
A great big THANK YOU to Patrick and Bernadette Tobin for hosting this bike ride. They added delicious barbecue chicken to some great food,
wine, beer, appertiffs, desserts, and appetizers brought by the riders. New riders had a chance to exercise and meet new friends from the Basque
Community. Sag riders stay in phone contact with each other and ensure that everyone is safe, sound and supplied with energizing food at rest
stops. They guide lost riders back to the main group as we constantly have new and inexperienced riders. They not only volunteer their vehicles
but some delicious food for the lunch as well such as lunkinka stew dishes (made by Chef Gabriel), desserts and other side dishes.
The inspirational award was given to 10 year old Jenna Tobin. As our youngest rider to date, she rode 20 miles of the ride! Photos of the ride
were taken by Philippe Acheritogaray and Joseba Inaki de Luzuriaga and will be put on the BCC website under the Txirrindulark Kluba news.
