GUNNEDAH ONLINE MUSIC EISTEDDFOD 2020

Welcome everyone!

Prior to recording and submitting your performance videos please ensure you re-visit the Terms & Conditions on our website – www.gunnedaheisteddfod.com.au

Key Performance Tips

One performance video per section – if you are entered in multiple sections, you must record separate videos, and submit them to us separately

Performance videos must be done in one take using one camera/phone only – no editing

At the commencement of every video, competitors must introduce the performance (this will not be judged by the adjudicators, however it is a requirement of our Eisteddfod – for younger kids, this introduction can be made by a parent/carer or family member):

o State your name and where you’re from o State the section in which you are competing o State the name of the piece of music to be performed

All performance videos must adhere to a strict 5-minute maximum time limit, from start to finish

Piano videos should be taken from the treble/right-hand end of the piano, with full view of the performer

Vocal and Instrumental videos should be taken from directly in front and with full view of the performer

Have fun! The adjudicators are looking for musical excellence as well as character and creativity

Uploading Your Videos

All videos must be submitted through our website between 9am, 10 June and midnight, 21 June

All of your files must be named as outlined below, so we can keep track of all entries! For the Sibling Duets and Family/Household Entertainment, you should put the name of the primary entrant as noted on your registration – refer back to your confirmation email if you’re not sure. Please ensure you name your files as requested – we thank you in advance!

Accepted video formats include: mp4, m4v, mov, wmv, avi and mpg (if you are recording off your phone it will produce an acceptable format).

o Please name your file SectionCode-VIDEO-FirstName-LastName (Example: V2-F-VIDEO-John-Doe)

Sheet Music is required to be submitted for most sections, except those outlined in the T&Cs o Sheet Music must be provided in PDF format and uploaded with performance videos o Please name your file SectionCode-SHEETMUSIC-FirstName-LastName

(Example: V2-F-SHEETMUSIC-John-Doe)

At the time of submitting performance videos, competitors will be required to supply the name of the work, composer and publisher of each piece being performed for copyright reporting purposes.

We recommend submitting your entries on a computer, rather than a phone, for ease of use.

You will receive an email confirmation upon submission of each entry.

No late entries will be accepted! Please ensure you submit your entries with plenty of time before the closing date as we are unable to offer any flexibility on the closing date.

Results and Viewing of Performance Videos

Results for all sections will be announced on our website on Wednesday 1 July 2020.

In the spirit of an Eisteddfod, we are committed to providing our eisteddfod community with the opportunity to watch and listen to the performances of others where possible, within the strict parameters of the APRA/OneMusic Australia Digital Eisteddfod Policy which is imposed by federal law.

When submitting your videos for adjudication, you will be asked to re-confirm whether or not you give permission for your/your child’s video to be made available for others to view (or not), in these two instances:

o All performance videos (where permission has been granted) will be available to view in separate folders for each section in Dropbox in a read-only/non-downloadable format. Sharing of these links is prohibited. This offering is intended only for the purposes of participants of the Eisteddfod and their families.

o Videos of the winning performance in each section will be available for all competitors to view via our unlisted YouTube Channel link from 1 – 7 July, which will be a private link only provided to our Eisteddfod community, competitors and their families, and sponsors. It will not be searchable on youtube, google etc.

Certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be emailed to winners as soon as possible from 1 July.

The Convenors will contact cash prize winners to arrange payment by direct transfer as soon as possible from 1 July.

If you have any questions, please contact the convenors via email in the first instance

THANK YOU!

The Gunnedah Eisteddfod Society wishes to thank all competitors and families who

have taken part in the Gunnedah Online Music Eisteddfod 2020, and to our loyal,

generous sponsors.

In what has been a challenging year for all, we are truly humbled to have had the

opportunity to bring together a community of musicians and supporters of the arts –

those local to Gunnedah, and from across Australia.

We wish you an enjoyable eisteddfod experience with us, and hope that we may

meet in person at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod sometime in the future.

Our very best wishes to you all,

Marg, Katrina and Lucy
