2. Translate the following passage into Gujarati:

Tapasi lived with Rakhalkaka in a house across the park. The house consisted of a verandah and a

small garden with a banyan tree. The banyan tree was the centre point of the house. It stretched out

like a large umbrella forming a shady roof over the house, as if it was holding the tiny family in its

arms. Hundreds of roots sprang from the branches and hung to the ground. Sometimes Tapasi wouldswing from them. At other times she would play hide and seek with imaginary characters. The

song of birds in the tree was her escape from the silence of the house. Carried away by birdsong,

she would repeat the things her teacher did. She would also revise her lessons to the tune of the

birdsong. Watching the birds flying in the garden was her greatest joy. It made her want to dance

every now and then. Her own life had no connection with colours. All she had was a printed blue

sari and a plain blue blouse to wear to school. Tapasi had got quite used to staying by herself in the

house, like a lone fish swimming in a pond.

But there was a bright side to her loneliness. She enjoyed going to school every day. She was

intelligent and could understand instantly what her teachers uttered. Tapasi enjoyed reading

books and was fascinated by stories about kings and queens. Her favourite was the one about the

Emperors new clothes!
