1st May, 2016 Run for Gujarat As a part of Gujarat state foundation day celebration, a run for Gujarat event was organized by District authority in morning of 1st May, 2016 at Jamnagar; students and faculty of constituent institutes of the university participated in the said event.

5th May 2016 Appointment of Counsellors at IIAPS For the academic Year 2016-17, Mr. Shailesh Gadhavi, Ex- President, Lion’s Club, Jamnagar (West) and Ms. Charmi Madhvani, Social Activist and Editor in Nobat Daily Newspaper, Jamnagar have been appointed on honorary basis to give their services and guidance to the students of Indian Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences as counsellors. 6th May 2016 Seminar on “Prevention of cancer…A new dimension of health life” With a mission to create cancer awareness in public, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar took initiative. For this, Maharshi Patanjali Institute Yoga Naturopathy Education & Research (MPYINER) & University School of Continuing Education in Ayurved (USCE) organized a free seminar on “Prevention of cancer…A new dimension of health life” which covered almost all aspects of Oncology, from basic science to clinical studies. The seminar was open for all, public, students, faculty & staff of various medical and paramedical colleges. The programme comprised of plenary sessions and guest Lectures. Total 577 participants took part in this programme from the Institutes of university and from different parts of Jamnagar.

7th May 2016

World Thalassemia Day blood donation camp – 2016 On account of World Thalassemia Day, consecutively for the 3rd year, Dept. of Kaumarbhriyta, IPGT&RA organized a Blood Donation Camp for the benefit of Thalassemia affected children in association with Blood Bank, GG Hospital, MP Shah Medical College, Jamnagar. A total of 54 units of blood were collected in the camp. All the donors were warmed up by a cup of coffee in the beginning and refreshed with cup of warm soup after the donation. Certificate of participation was given to all the donors by Blood Bank of GG Hospital.

7th May 2016 Continuing Education Programme A Continuing Education Programme sponsored by Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, Kerala was organized at PM Mehta Auditorium of IPGT&RA on 7th May, 2016, from 2.30 PM onwards. A total of 105 delegates comprising of P.G. and Ph.D. Scholars, Teachers from constituent Institutes of Gujarat Ayurved University and practicing Ayurveda Physicians of Jamnagar city participated in this CME.

21st May, 2016 to 20thJune 2016 Free camp for Yoga MPIYNER had organized one month free yoga camp from May 21, 2016 to June 20, 2016 at five different places, according to the guidelines of Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy & Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi. The camp was open for all. Current year students were also voluntarily joined the camp.

23rd May to 24th May, 2016 Recruitment at IPGT&RA Procedure for recruitment of faculties on regular basis - Professor (04), Associate Professor (02) and Assistant Professor (06), Technical post like Biochemist (1) and other Adhoc appointment as Associate Professor against Professor (02), Assistant Professor against Associate Professor (02) was carried out during 23rd May to 24th May, 2016. The offer letters and appointment letters have been issued and 13 faculty members have joined their respective post till date. 3rd, 4th and 5thJune 2016 National workshop on “BAMS and MD/MS (Ayu) syllabus The National workshop for the review of syllabus of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda was jointly organized by Central Council of Indian Medicines (Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi) and IPGT&RA Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar during 3rd to 5th July 2016. The workshop was conducted at IPGT & RA, Jamnagar. The inauguration of the workshop was done by Hon. AYUSH minister Shri Shripad Yesso Naik. The workshop was addressed by the wisdom of Padmashri Vd. Rajesh Kotecha, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar; Prof. S.S Sawarikar, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Ayurved Univesity, Jamnagar; Prof. O.P. Upadhyay, Vice chancellor of Guru Ravidas University, Hoshiarpur, Punjab; Prof. Banvari Lal Gaur, Ex-Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur; Prof. Satyendra Prasad Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhanda Ayurveda University; Dr. H.R. Nagendran, Chancellor of S-VYASA University, Banguluru; Prof. Medhavi Lal Sharma, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar. The workshop was conducted to revise and modify the necessary changes in the syllabus of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda. The main motive of the workshop was to bring out the essential changes in the syllabus in order to provide quality education to the students and to conquer new horizons and reach new heights in the field of Ayurveda. The finalized draft of the revised syllabus of each of the subject of UG and PG courses was submitted to CCIM, which will be sent for further approval and revision. The workshop was attended by nearly 350 experts from different subjects from all over the country. Nearly 100 faculty members from the undergraduate and postgraduate constituent Institute of Gujarat Ayurved University and Ph.D. scholars of IPGT&RA had participated in the workshop.

10th June 2016 Career Guidance Seminar Two constituent institutes of Gujarat Ayurved University- Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences (IIAPS) and Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga and Naturopathy Education and Research (MPYINER), conducted a career guidance seminar at Dhanvantari Auditorium. Around 300 students and parents from Jamnagar and nearby cities attended this programme.

21st June 2016 Observation of 2nd International Yoga day 2nd International Yoga Day was organized on 21st June, 7:00 to 7:45 am at Dhanvantari Mandir Ground, Gujarat Ayurved University campus, Jamnagar, sponsored by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. This program was jointly organized by MPIYNER, Board of sports & Physical Education Department, Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar and with the support of Collector Office, Jamnagar. All constituent Institute of university participated in yoga practices. In addition, employee of State Bank of India, students of Human Torch Nursing college, Vidyasagar Infotech college and Achievers Academy also participated in this event. More than 1000 participants attended the Yoga session.

Seminar on Yoga On the occasion of “International Yoga Day”, Maharshi Patanjali Institute Yoga Naturopathy Education & Research and Board of sports & Physical Education Department, Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar had jointly organized a seminar on “Yoga in Health Perspective” on 21st June, 2016 at Dr. PM Mehta Auditorium. More than 200 participants

remained present in the seminar from different Institutes of Gujarat Ayurved University & common public of Jamnagar.

23rd and 24th June, 2016 Admission in D. Pharm. (Ayu.) and B. Pharm. (Ayu.) 2016-17 The admission process for the academic year 2016-17 for D. Pharm. (Ayu.) and B. Pharm. (Ayu.) was carried out in the Institute on 23rd and 24th June, 2016. In first round, total 60 students were given admission in D. Pharm. (Ayu.) and 51 in B. Pharm. (Ayu.). Admission procedure is still in progress. 6th to 9th June 2016 Recruitment at SGAM Interview for various faculty members i.e. Reader (06), Lecturer (18) and Staff nurse (03) was conducted during 6th to 9th June 2016 for Shri Gulabunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalaya. The offer letters to selected candidates have been issued. Further process is in progress. 1st to 3rd July, 2016 National seminar-2016- “Ayurved in Contemporary Age” On the occasion of 71st Foundation Day of Shri Gulabkunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, and Golden Jubilee year of Gujarat Ayurved University, A National seminar- “Ayurved in Contemporary Age” was organized by SGAM. Total 600 delegates attended the seminar in which outstates registered delegates were 200 (Participants from Chennai, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Chattishgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata etc.). Instate Registered participants were 400 (Participants from Nadiad, VallabhVidyanagar, Ahmedabad, Junagadh, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara etc.). Prof. Vasuben Trivedi, Minister, HRD, Govt. of Gujarat was chief guest during valedictory function.

4th July 2016 Air force personnel admission in C.Y.Ed. Total 20 personnel from 09 Air Force stations of Gujarat and Rajasthan took admission in C.Y.Ed. Course in MPYINER as part of instruction of Hon. Prime Minister to strengthen and promote the Yoga practice in Defence wing for better health. 4th & 5th July 2016 Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) IQAC arranged Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) of Gujarat Ayurved University by group of six external experts under the chairmanship of Prof.Hemixa Rao - Former V.C., Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan, Dr.Narendra Chotaliya - Former Director, Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, Govt. of Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Dr. Haridra Dave – Ex.Deputy Director, Department of AYUSH, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, Dr.Harshit Shah – Associate Professor, Akhandanand Govt. Ayurved College, Ahmedabad, Dr.P.R.Chauhan - Faculty of English, Govt. Arts & Commerce College, Paddhari, Dist. Rajkot, Shri Jayeshbhai Tank – Director, Mediways Pharma, Ahmedabad. The committee submitted its reports to University Authority. Two new Departments functional at IPGT&RA Two new department’s viz. Department of Swasthawritta and Department of Sharira Kriya have been functional in IPGT&RA with the recruitment of faculty on 23rd May to 24th May, 2016. Achievement of staff

1. Prof. P.K. Prajapati and Dr. Anup Thakar are members of committee constituted at All India Institute Ayurveda, New Delhi for finalize the course syllabus and other related matters for “Panchkarma Therapist Training Programme” to be started at AIIA, New Delhi.

2. Dr. Arpan Bhatt, participated in National Yoga Olympiad as a Jury and was felicitated by Smt. SmritiIrani, HRD Minister, GOI.

Project proposal for Ph.D. fellowship programme Proposal submitted under invitation of M/o AYUSH to launch 100 Ph.D. fellowships on Ayurveda specific research topics, out of which 50 for Ayurveda Postgraduates, 40 for Bio-science/ Bio-technology/ Life sciences post graduates and 10 for Sociology/Statistics/ Demographic studies. Gujarat Ayurved University will coordinate the programme and conduct a national level screening test at regular intervals and identify suitable centres of working on predetermined Ayurveda topics at predetermined institutions / centres that award the Ph.D. Total 18 national Institutions / Centres/ University were identified for the proposed project. Proposed financial implication for first year for above said project will be Rs. 25,57,08,000/- (Twenty Five Crore Fifty Seven Lakhs and Eight Thousand Only). Up gradation of Library Resources University Central Library has been enriched by subscribing E-journal Gateway (j-Gate), by this the students & staffs can have seamless access to 7594 Full Text journals articles in the area of medical sciences and has 13460 index journals by visiting the link www.jgateplus.com Further 468 E-books, related to Ayurved & Medical field have been added to Central Library.
