Principal’s Report
P&C Committee Yesterday the P&C held their Annual General Meeting to
elect new office bearers of their committee. The new
committee is as follows:
Jaclyn Hill - President
Jillian Agius – Vice President
Sharlene Saville – Treasurer
Susan Bonham – Secretary
I am sure you will join me in congratulating these parents
and will support them throughout 2020.
I would like to thank the outgoing office bearers of the
2019 P&C committee (Kim Williams, Jaclyn Hill and
Sharlene Saville) and their P&C members who have
volunteered their time and effort, working hard to
ensure the year was a success. Your tireless efforts
supporting the school to help improve facilities and
resources are greatly appreciated.
GRIP Student Leadership Conference On Tuesday, our school leaders and some of our Inspire
Team, attended the GRIP Student Leadership
Conference, which was held at Quaycentre, Sydney
Olympic Park.
The conference was filled with fun and interactive
activities that explored the themes of Leaders are
Transformers and Making a Positive Change. Our students
also learned that being a student leader is not about the
position or badge, but about their personal qualities, their
actions and their integrity.
Throughout the day, our student leaders were
enthusiastic, engaged and displayed exemplary behaviour.
They represented our school with pride and I cannot wait
to see how they will use what they learned to make a
positive difference at our school.
My Thanks to Mrs Davies for organising this valuable
learning experience for our student leaders.

School Banking
Remember, Friday is School Banking day and students
should bring in their weekly deposit.
Zone Swimming On Friday last week Praharsha V from 4/5I proudly
represented Guise Public School at the Zone Swimming
Carnival, which was held at Macquarie Fields pool.
She competed in the 50m Freestyle event on the day and
came 2nd in her heat and placed 9th overall, which is a
fantastic achievement.
Congratulations Praharsha, we are all very proud of you on
your wonderful effort.
Clean Up Australia Day This week Guise PS and many other schools across
Australia have made a real difference to their
environment through participating in a Schools Clean Up
through the annual Clean Up Australia Day and clearing
our school grounds of any rubbish.
Schools Clean Up Day is a fun and engaging way to teach
young Australians about the responsible disposal of
rubbish, resource recovery and the repercussions of
rubbish dumped irresponsibly in the local environment.
Many thanks to Mrs Hanney who coordinated and planned
for this very important event.
Fruit Break Fruit Break is a set time at Guise PS for students to
‘refuel’ on vegetables, salad and fruit and ‘rehydrate’ with
water. Research shows that students who are not hungry
and are well hydrated perform better in the classroom,
show increased concentration, and are less likely to be
irritable and more focused.
Please remember to send your child to school with a water
bottle and some fresh fruit or vegetables so they can
participate in Fruit Break each day in the classroom.
Pre-Kinder Our Pre-Kinder program will be running again this year for
children who will be starting school next year. During the
sessions children can learn essential pre-kindergarten
skills in a fun and interactive setting whilst socialising
with their peers and becoming familiar with the BIG
school environment. Look out for the flyer in next
fortnight’s newsletter with all information. Enquiries
about the program are welcomed at the front office.
Staff Professional Learning Staff will be involved in two separate 3 hour
afternoon/evening professional learning sessions this
year. The focus of the first professional learning session
this term will be updating our mandatory face to face CPR
and Anaphylaxis training. The second session in Term 2
will be professional learning on phonics and spelling. These
two afternoons will be in place of the last School
Development Day that is scheduled at the end of Term 4.
Have a wonderful fortnight!
