No.: sri,f url 6,.' ;t) :/ Date: 28101115 NOTICE This notice is regarding guidelines of the Minor Project (BTME-607) keeping in view that the same project will be continued as Major Project (BTME- 806) in 7/Bth semester and in continuation of notice Ref. No.: SBS/ME/53a ) dated 28101/15 for information of all the students of 6tr'setnester, Mechanical Engineering, The deadline for various submissions/presentation related to the project is given in the above mentioned previous notice and shall be strictly enforced. Any delay shall lead to deduction of marks from the final evaluation. 1. The project topic should be given by the concetned project guide or group of students may also select it with consent of the concerned project guide. The students shali keep in regular contact with their project guide throughout the seinester to discuss.the problerns faced in the execution of the project. 2. Students are supposed to submit a project synopsis before the deadline given below. Format for submission for synopsis is available with the undersigned. Delay in submission of synopsis shall lead to deduction of marks in evaluation. 3. One mid terrn evaluation shall be done before the final viva-voce exafits (internal & external). The proforma /format for submission of project progress is available with the undersigned. Before submission, these mid- term progress reports shall be checked and signed by the respective Project Guide. A ten minute PowerPoint presentation can also be asked for by the Project Incharge, if deemed necessary. 4. Finai project report has to be prepared in the proforma/fonnat given by PTU/college Project Coordinator. Any other fotmat shall be summarily rejected. The students MUST ensure that proper format is adhered to in the final project repoft. Deadlines shall be notified later. What is exnected from the students? 1. Originality and innovative ideas, rather than a mere copy of some existing Design / Study. I 2. Systernatic approach to the Problems and comparative evaluation of the I options available. 3. Exploration of options for Materials and Manufacturing Facilities. 4. Through Analysis, Economic Viability, Complete design and good qualify Drawings (as per Indian standards). What is beins looked for in the Final Submission? 1. Comprehensiveness of the Project Z. Working Set-up in case of Fabrication Projects 3. Technicai Feasibility; Economic Viability and Exhaustive coverage in Feasibility Projects; 4. Good Quality Assembly Drawings Paper Design Projects; and complete Component Drawings in 5. Briefly introduce the problem, and its existing solutions/designs (if any) and

their shortcomings and clearly define your objectives'

Hightight the progress you have made since the iast evaluation (Not

applicable for final evaluation)

]. Divide the entire presentation equally among the members of the group' Each

member of the gloup touching a different aspect of the problem e.g. design,

drawing, fabrication, software etc.

4. Prepare good quality Power Point slides to be used with LCD Projectors for

presentation

5.Preparegoodqualitydrawingsorrgoodqualitytracingpaper(ifrequiredbythe problem)

Guidelines for the final Submission

1. Each student should have his/ her own individual report, even it the Design

calculations, Drawings and set-up are common for the group members' (the

write-up should not be same) (The students submitting identical Reports

shall be awarded one grade lower than their actual score)

2. A11 the Drawings have to be drawn in pencil on goo-d quality tracing papel

and should "orifor* to IS sheet sizei and specifications' In CAD based

projects, computer graphic output must be included'

3. A project Repor.t strouia normally comprise of the following:

o An introduction to the Problem'r Analysis of the problern: a comparative evaluation of the altemative

solutions (Design and/or Plans)c Your proposal(s) with justifications'

e Details oiyo.,. decision including detailed calculations andl' Or plan'

o The report should include Drawings (assembly and detail), Charts

(flow piocess or layout), Software etc., as relevant to the problem.

4. Students doing Fabrication and software Development Projects are required

to submit a copy of the Drawings/Program/Report to the Guide as per their
