1 Guidelines-cum-Information for Admission to First Year B.Tech.Programmes 1. Applications for admission to B. Tech. Programme at HBTU, Kanpur for the session 2018-19 are to be submitted On-Line only. Candidates are required to fill the online Application Form through the website: www.hbtuadmission.nic.in 2. Registration & online fee payment can be done from June 20, 2018 to June 30, 2018 through the website www.hbtuadmission.nic.in. 3. Candidates are advised to read these guidelines carefully, check their eligibility and applicable reservation category etc. before filling and submitting the online registration form. 4. The admission is open to JEE(Main) - 2018 rank holder candidates who have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12 th ) from any Institution located in U.P. or whose parents are domicile of U.P. subject to the eligibility conditions given in the guidelines. If the candidate has passed qualifying examination from outside U.P., he/she has to produce domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of verification of the documents. Candidates whose parents are defence personnel settled or posted in UP on the entrance date of JEE (Main)-2018 or whose parents are officers or employees of All India Services belonging to UP Cadre must submit relevant certificates ( See Categories Definitions 3.5). 5. Accepting admission in HBTU, Kanpur implies acceptance by the candidate and his/her parents or guardians with all the provisions given in the guidelines. Any change in the rules, regulations, fee and special conditions etc. of the University shall apply mutatis mutandis to the admitted candidates. 6. If a candidate has passed qualifying examination either with grace in any subjects or with marks less than 60% ( 55% for SC/ST category) in aggregate in three compulsory subjects; Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics or without studying minimum five subjects (including the three and English) then NO SEAT of any B.Tech. programme of HBTU, Kanpur will be visible on counseling- portal for the candidate.

Guidelines-cum-Information for Admission to First Year

B.Tech.Programmes

1. Applications for admission to B. Tech. Programme at HBTU, Kanpur for the

session 2018-19 are to be submitted On-Line only. Candidates are required to fill the

online Application Form through the website: www.hbtuadmission.nic.in

2. Registration & online fee payment can be done from June 20, 2018 to June 30, 2018

through the website www.hbtuadmission.nic.in.

3. Candidates are advised to read these guidelines carefully, check their eligibility and

applicable reservation category etc. before filling and submitting the online registration

form.

4. The admission is open to JEE(Main) - 2018 rank holder candidates who have passed the

qualifying examination (Class 12th

) from any Institution located in U.P. or whose parents

are domicile of U.P. subject to the eligibility conditions given in the guidelines. If the

candidate has passed qualifying examination from outside U.P., he/she has to produce

domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of

verification of the documents. Candidates whose parents are defence personnel settled or

posted in UP on the entrance date of JEE (Main)-2018 or whose parents are officers or

employees of All India Services belonging to UP Cadre must submit relevant certificates

( See Categories Definitions 3.5).

5. Accepting admission in HBTU, Kanpur implies acceptance by the candidate and his/her

parents or guardians with all the provisions given in the guidelines. Any change in the

rules, regulations, fee and special conditions etc. of the University shall apply mutatis

mutandis to the admitted candidates.

6. Candidates claiming advantage of reserved categories, subcategories are required to

indicate the same in the Online registration form and are not required to send any

certificate to the University at this stage. These certificates, in original, will have to be

produced at the time of document verification along with one self-attested copy of each

document. Various formats of certificates are available on the admission website and

HBTU website. These formats are subject to change even up to the date of admission, as

per the orders of Government of Uttar Pradesh. Note that the certificate for OBC

candidates will be entertained only if it is issued on or after 01.04.2018 (mandatory

due to condition of creamy layer for OBC).

7. Academic Eligibility for admission to First year B.Tech. Programme at HBTU Kanpur is

as per “Specific Guidelines point no. 1.2 of the document”.

8. If a candidate has passed qualifying examination either with grace in any subjects or with

marks less than 60% ( 55% for SC/ST category) in aggregate in three compulsory

subjects; Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics or without studying minimum five subjects

(including the three and English) then NO SEAT of any B.Tech. programme of HBTU,

Kanpur will be visible on counseling- portal for the candidate.

9. The candidates in respect of whom, the result of the qualifying examination has not been

declared till the date of the document verification, due to any reason whatsoever, shall

not be eligible for admission under any circumstances.

10. If any document/declaration submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage,

his/her admission shall be cancelled and he/she may be liable for prosecution under the

law. In case of any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be limited to Kanpur court only.

11. The candidate must himself/ herself ensure his/her eligibility for admission to B.Tech.

programme at HBTU, Kanpur. If a candidate, who is not eligible for admission will not

have any claim whatsoever, for admission to B.Tech. programme at HBTU, Kanpur.

12. The Registration fee of Rs.2,000/- (non-refundable) and the part admission fee (Seat

Retain fee) of Rs.20,000/- (General/OBC) and Rs.12,000/- (SC/ST) are to be paid on-

line only. If a candidate is admitted, seat retain fee would be adjusted towards the

University admission fee.

13. If a candidate wants to withdraw his / her candidature after seat allotment & document

verifications, then an amount of Rs. 5,000/- will be deducted from his / her Seat Retain

Fee. The remaining amount will be returned in due course of time.

14. If a candidate does not report for document verification at HBTU Kanpur during

scheduled time, then his/her allotted seat will be cancelled and he/she will be out of the

counseling process. An amount of Rs. 5,000/- will be deducted from his / her Seat Retain

Fee. The remaining amount will be returned in due course of time.

15. If a candidate does not report on 31th July 2018, the day of beginning of Academic

Session and Registration Formalities of 1st semester at HBTU Kanpur then his/ her

admission will be cancelled and Fee paid by the candidate will be forfeited and will not

be refunded under any circumstances.

16. If any of the qualifying examination Board/University awards only letter grades without

providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, then the candidate

should obtain a certificate from the Board/ University specifying equivalent marks and

submit it at the time of document verification. In case, such a certificate is not provided

by the candidate, the decision of the Admission Committee regarding his / her eligibility

shall be final.

17. The allotment of seats through counseling will be carried out strictly in accordance with

the JEE Main - 2018 rank of the candidates, subject to the order of preference given for

the seat and availability of seat in the category.

18. Government orders released from time to time shall be applicable for exemption in

tuition fee for eligible SC/ST candidates at the time of granting admission.

19. All information in connection with B.Tech. Admissions- 2018 shall be made available

through the admission website www.hbtuadmission.nic.in and www.hbtu.ac.in. The

candidates are advised to refer to these websites regularly/frequently failing which HBTU

Kanpur will not be responsible for any loss due to the lack of communication.

1. ELIGIBILITY:

The academic qualifications as prescribed in Information Bulletin of JEE (Main)-2018 on the

basis of which the candidate appeared for the JEE (Main) - 2018 are applicable for this

admission as well. Extracts of some of the salient eligibility are reproduced below (Section 1.1.1

to 1.1.3).

1.1. Eligibility for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2018

1.1.1. Date of Birth:

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1993 are eligible.

However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with

Disabilities (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PwD

candidates who should have been borned on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. Date of birth

as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.

1.1.2. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE)

Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th

Examination or any equivalent

qualifying examination in 2016 or 2017; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th

Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in

JEE(Main)- 2018. Candidates who passed Class 12th

/Qualifying examination in 2015 or before

as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2019 or later are not eligible to appear in

JEE (Main) – 2018. Candidates who appeared in class 12th

/equivalent qualifying Examinations in

2015, did not pass in 2015, but passed in 2016 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2018.

1.1.3. Number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination (QE):

Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th

/qualifying examination in order to

be eligible for writing JEE (Main) - 2018. The candidates who have taken four subjects are not

permitted to write JEE (Main) – 2018.

1.2 Eligibility for admission to First year B.Tech. programme at HBTU Kanpur:

For admission to first year of B.Tech. programme, a candidate must have clearly passed

Intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from

any recognized Board / University without grace and with a minimum 60% marks (55%

marks for SC/ST Category candidates) in aggregate in three compulsory subjects (Physics,

Chemistry and Mathematics). In addition, Candidate should have studied a minimum of

five subjects (including the above three and English) in his/her qualifying examination.

2. ADMISSION TO TUITION FEE WAIVER SEATS UNDER “TUITION FEE

WAIVER” SCHEME:

As per AICTE notification, tuition fee waiver seats for economically weaker meritorious

candidates are also available in B.Tech. programme at the University. No tuition fee will be

charged from the candidates admitted against such seats. The fee waiver seats will be limited to

maximum of 5% of the approved intake in the course, and will be over and above of the

sanctioned intake. The economically weaker students must submit the requisite

document/certificate given on the admission website at the time of verification of documents.

3. CATEGORY DEFINITIONS:

3.1 Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an Institution located in the

State of Uttar Pradesh and who do not claim for any reserved category are eligible for admission

to all the courses at HBTU, Kanpur against available General (OPEN) seats.

[Code: UPGE] No category certificate is required from such candidates.

3.2 Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an Institution located in State

of U.P. and are domicile of Uttar Pradesh and belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) of Uttar Pradesh /

Scheduled Tribe (ST) of Uttar Pradesh / Other Backward Classes of Uttar Pradesh are eligible

for admission against available reserved seats of their category.

[Respective Codes: UPSC / UPST / UPBC] Certificate No. 1 or 2, as applicable, is required.

3.3 Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an Institution located outside

Uttar Pradesh and whose parents are domicile of Uttar Pradesh and who have not claimed for any

reserved category, are also eligible for admission to courses offered at HBTU, Kanpur under

General (OPEN) category. Such candidates have to produce the domicile certificate of his/her

parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of document verification.

[Code: UPGD] Certificate No. 3 is required from such candidates

3.4 Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from an Institution located outside

Uttar Pradesh and whose parents are domicile of Uttar Pradesh and who belong to Scheduled

Caste of Uttar Pradesh / Scheduled Tribe of Uttar Pradesh / Other Backward Classes of Uttar

Pradesh are also eligible for admission against reserved seats of their category.

[Respective Codes: GDSC/GDST/GDBC] Such candidates have to produce the domicile

certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) (Certificate No. 3) and Category

Certificate (Certificate No. 1 or 2 as applicable) at the time of document verification.

3.5 The domicile requirement to son/daughter of the following is relaxed and admission is

permitted.

(i) Defence personnel settled in Uttar Pradesh on the date of Entrance Examination of JEE

Main-2018 after retirement / being disabled in action or Defence personnel killed in action and

the dependents settled in Uttar Pradesh on the date of JEE Main - 2018 (Certificate no. 5 is

required)

(ii) Defence personnel who are not domicile of Uttar Pradesh but are posted in Uttar Pradesh

on the date of JEE Main - 2018 (Certificate no. 5 is required)

(iii) Employee of All India Services belonging to Uttar Pradesh cadre. (Certificate no. 10 is

required)

[Code: GDDA] GDDA candidates will be considered as UPGD category for all other benefits.

4.0 RESERVATION OF SEATS

4.1 Vertical Reservation (Category):

4.3 The candidates can be given only one type of horizontal reservation out of

UPFF/UPAF/UPHC (certificate nos. 4, 5 & 6 respectively).

However, the Girl candidates can also claim for any one of UPFF/UPAF/UPHC along with

UPGL.

4.4 Subsequent request for the change of category / sub-category filled in online registration

form shall not be entertained under any circumstances.

4.5 Category / sub-category must be supported by the relevant certificates as per proforma given

on the website to be produced at the time of counseling/document verification, failing which the

allotment will be cancelled and the candidates shall be treated in General Category in the next

round of counseling, if any.

4.6 The advantage of horizontal reservation in Armed forces sub-category is available to

sons/daughters of ‘Defence personnel of U.P. either retired (Superannuated) or killed / disabled

in action and the dependents settled in U.P.’ , and ‘the Defence personnel posted in U.P.’ on the

date of JEE Main - 2018.

4.7 Please note that benefits of UPGL subcategory will automatically be given to all the

Female candidates.

5.0 MEDICAL STANDARDS:

5.1 Candidates will have to submit a certificate of Medical fitness / Handicap on Certificate

number 8 at the time of document verifications at HBTU Kanpur.

The total fee for admission to First year B.Tech. Programmes is Rs. 98,300/- (Appendix –C). The

information about hostel/ mess fee can be obtained from the University.

Appendix A

Notification for B. Tech. Admission 2018-19 issued on

HBTU, Kanpur website: www.hbtu.ac.in

1. Admission for B. Tech. programs for the session 2018-19 in Harcourt Butler Technical

University, Kanpur is to be made through Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Mains)-2018

ranking.

2. HBTU Kanpur shall conduct its separate counselling for B. Tech. admissions on the basis

of JEE-2018 main ranking. Link for online application shall be provided shortly on

HBTU website.

3. All seats of B. Tech. courses in Engineering of School of Engineering &School of

Chemical Technology, HBTU Kanpur are applicable only to the candidates of UP

domicile.

4. Reservation policy for seats are as per UP government rules & regulations.

5. For seat matrix, format of different certificates, fee structure and other admission details
