Introducing the ERMA CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

Starting in 2012, as an ERMA certi!cation holder, you are required to participate

in ERMA Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

In the CPD, you are invited to be actively involved in various professional

development activities to obtain Professional Development Units or PDUs.

We believe that professional development activities must also take place outside

your regular job or regular training activities. That is precisely why ERMA is

introducing a way to maintain and continue to develop your competence in

Enterprise Risk Management, by participating in various professional activities

that will be awarded by PDUs.

PDUs are issued by ERMA to quantify the professional development activities

conducted by every ERMA certi!cation holders, and it is required to maintain

each certi!cations (ERMAP, ERMCP, CERG). We should add that it is also a good

way to keep track and support your ongoing educational and professional

development.


Renewing your Certi!cation

Every ERMA certi!cation has a validity period of two years, and you must obtain

the required numbers of PDUs to renew and maintain your ERMA certi!cation.

The required PDUs are calculated based on the type of your certi!cation (ERMAP,

ERMCP, or CERG).

Once you have obtained the required PDUs, you will also be required to

complete a certi!cation fee of USD 100, and ERMA will re-issue your e-certi!cate

afterwards.

You will also be able to request an additional grace period of 6 months if you are

not able to submit enough PDUs to renew your certi!cation.

If you are unable to renew your certi!cation at the right time, you will be

required to take part to another ERMA assessment session in order to get you

certi!cation back.

Recognized Professional Activities

We acknowledge a wide variety of activities as part of the Continuing

Professional Development. This way, you will be able to !nd professional

activities that is suitable with your time, budget, and interests.

Essentially, the Continuing Professional Development acknowledges the

following professional activities:

• Speaking Engagements

• Participations in ERMA Global Series

• Participations in Acknowledged Seminars or Workshops

• Public Writings and Publications

• ERMA Content Contributions

• Participations in ERMA Peer Assessment

PDUs is only awarded to professional activities conducted within your

certi!cation validity period.

Whenever you are invited to speak and share about your related experience on

ERM, you will be awarded with PDUs, depending on the scope of your speaking

engagement, with the following detail:

In-House Training Engagement(at your own company) 10 PDUs

Local / National Speaking Engagement- with less than 100 participants- with more than 100 participants

15 PDUs20 PDUs

Global / International Speaking Engagement- with less than 100 participants- with more than 100 participants

As part of ERMA’s contribution to the global risk management community, ERMA

is regularly organizing public conferences and seminars, as well as webcasts and

webinars.

Speaking Participation in ERMA Online Broadcasts- ERMA Webcast (15 minutes)- ERMA Webinar (45 minutes)

also be awarded with PDUs, depending on the respective seminars or

workshops

what seminar or workshop is acknowledged and how many PDUs are awarded by ERMA,

Recognized Professional ActivitiesPublic Writings and Publications

Sharing your experience in ERM by writing or publishing articles, case studies,

reports, or researches is a great way to contribute to your professional

community.

That is why, we strongly endorse this kind of professional activities as part of the

CPD.

Published article in media (500-2500 words)- in prominent local media- in prominent international media

Another way to contribute to your professional society is by contributing various

content for the ERMA community. As an inclusive organization, all content

contributed by you to ERMA will be accessible by anyone, and not only ERMA

members.

Content written for ERMA- Academic papers, case studies, or papers- Long articles (2500 words)- Short articles (500 words)

Recognized Professional ActivitiesParticipations in ERMA Peer Assessment

ERMA adopts a unique way in commencing assessment activities. Aside from

our Certi!cation Board, you as our certi!cation holder, is also invited to asses you

risk professional peers, and determine whether their competency is up to ERMA’s

professional standards.

Participation as peer assessor in ERMA CBA (Competency-Based Assessment) for ERMAP, ERMCP, and CERG

Participation as peer assessor in ERMA APC (Assessment to Professional Competence) for ERMCP and CERG

Question contribution to ERMA EBA (Exam-Based Assessment) for ERMAP and ERMCP

PDUs Submission

To submit your PDU, please download the PDU form available at erm-

academy.org/cpd, and !ll it with your most current PDUs, and send it by email

to [email protected]

Accumulation of PDUs

If you have successfully obtained more PDUs than the required amount for your

certi!cation, you may allocate your PDUs surplus for the following renewal cycle.

To qualify in the PDUs accumulation, you must submit your PDUs within the

validity cycle time of your certi!cation.

The maximum allowed amount for PDUs accumulation is

• ERMAP: 5 (!ve) PDUs• ERMCP: 15 (!fteen) PDUs• CERG: 25 (twenty !ve) PDUs

Remember that a professional activities is acknowledged to obtain PDUs only it

is conducted within the validity cycle of your certi!cation.

Certi!cation Validity Period

Your ERMA certi!cation has a validity period of two years. To renew and maintain

your certi!cation, you would be required to obtain a speci!c amount of PDU and

also to commit a renewal and maintenance fee of USD 100 per two years.

Upon the two years cycle validity expiry of your certi!cation, you will be asked to

complete the renewal fee using our secure online payment system

Grace Period & Certi!cation Expiry

Every certi!cation has a validity period of two years, and can only be renewed if

you have acquired to required PDU and complete the renewal fee of USD 100.

We completely understand that you may not be able to collect the required

PDUs during your validity period. If this happens to you, please let us know so

we can provide you with a grace period of 6 additional months. During this

additional time, you will be able to participate in activities that may lead to

PDUs.

Grace Period & Certi!cation Expiry

Every certi!cation has a validity period of two years, and can only be renewed if

you have acquired to required PDU and complete the renewal fee of USD 100.

We completely understand that you may not be able to collect the required

PDUs during your validity period. If this happens to you, please let us know so

we can provide you with a grace period of 6 additional months. During this

additional time, you will be able to participate in activities that may lead to

PDUs.
