University Library – Ormskirk

The University Library is situated at the heart of the Ormskirk Campus.

Library facilities include:

• Access to help and support• Networked computers• Media loans• Laptop loans and wireless throughout the building• Access to 200,000 items including books and audiovisual resources• 95,000 items in our digital library• A comprehensive range of print and electronic journals• Printing and photocopying• Bookable individual study rooms and group rooms• A range of study zones – group work, quiet work and silent study• A range of assistive technologies

Site Libraries: Aintree Hospital, Liverpool; Woodlands Centre, Chorley and Armstrong House, Manchester

Aintree and Armstrong House support students studying within the Faculty of Health and Social Care who are based across the North West.

The Woodlands Centre provides support for Faculty of Education students, teachers and mentors working across the UK.

Core facilities at all sites include:

Each web page will guide you to key collections of essential eJournals, specialist sources of subject information and wider research resources. All our eResources are available 24/7 through the library catalogue at library.edgehill.ac.uk.

The subject pages provide help with starting your research and include information about:

• All the eResources for your subject• Up to date information about new books for your subject• Search tips• Skills resources• Where to get specialist help• Contact details for your subject librarian

The GO portal is the key to all your resources.

The GO Portal

The GO Portal provides access to everything you need such as library resources, Learning Edge, and your University email. To login all you need is your username (your student number) and password. You will find this in your registration letter.

Login to the GO Portal at go.edgehill.ac.ukor go to the University website at edgehill.ac.uk and click Login.

Once logged in you will have access to a range of information and resources including:

• email• Library catalogue• Learning Edge • Secure storage for your work• Student forums, and much more!

The Library Catalogue

The library catalogue lists all materials held in our libraries and also provides access to the 95,000 items held in our digital library.

To access the library catalogue, login to the GO Portal at go.edgehill.ac.uk and use the Library link at the top. The Library drop down menu also provides quick access to key parts of the catalogue such as My Reading List and My Account.

Alternatively you can go directly to the catalogue at library.edgehill.ac.uk. You can also access the catalogue on your mobile. Just download the link from the catalogue home page.

When you are using eResources or accessing your account, you need to login to My Account.

Through My Account you can:

• Search the library catalogue for all our resources• Find your reading list• Request items out on loan• Renew your books• Manage your library account

Learning Edge is a suite of systems which can be accessed online to support you and your learning.

At the heart of Learning Edge is Blackboard Learn™, which is where you will find your Programme and Module course areas. Within these course areas you have 24/7 access to a range of tools and information which may include:

• Communication and collaboration tools such as discussion forums, blogs, wikis and announcements• Course materials such as lecture slides and summaries, information about your assignments and links to electronic library resources• Notification tools to keep you up to date with what’s new in your course areas• Online submission of coursework• Access: go.edgehill.ac.uk/vle

Own a smartphone? With the Blackboard Mobile Learn™ app you can have instant, on-the-go access to Learning Edge communications, handouts, grades, assignments and more. Download Blackboard Mobile Learn™ for free from your device’s app store.

Discover More

Learning Services has a tool which will help you to access our extensive resources. Discover More is a single search tool that provides fast and simple access to our print and electronic material.

Use Discover More to search for print books, eBooks, journals, full-text articles and much more. The tool searches the library catalogue and the majority – although not all – of our electronic resources.

Discover More is available through our library catalogue at library.edgehill.ac.uk, there is also a mobile friendly version of this tool. To find out more about this search tool go to the Learning Services web pages: ehu.ac.uk/ls or Ask Us: ehu.ac.uk/askus
