Housing and DiningLiving on campus will put you in a central location, with easy access to idyllic downtown Birmingham. You can walk to classes while also living near restaurants, fine arts displays and entertainment districts.
Living on CampusLiving on campus for your first two consecutive
semesters is required if you are an International
Year One student. If you are a Graduate Pathway
student, you may live in the residence hall if
space is available. All students will be residing in
double occupancy residence halls, and no single
options are available.
Every attempt will be made to house you with
American roommates, which will help you better
integrate into American culture and provide you
a great opportunity to practice your English
language skills.
Safety and SecurityThe safety and security of UAB students is a top
priority. Exterior building doors are monitored by
an online electronic access control system 24
hours per day. Each residence hall is staffed all
day and night at the front desk, and all residents
and guests must check with desk staff before
entry. UAB police officers routinely patrol
all areas.
Campus DiningDining on campus gives you the advantage
of never having to worry about keeping cash
on hand. At UAB there are 10 restaurants on
campus, all of which accept the UAB ONE Card
for payment. There is also a convenience store
on campus located in Camp Hall.
Meal Plan OptionsAll students living on campus while enrolled
in INTO UAB programs are required to have a
dining plan. You will use your UAB ONE Card
to purchase meals and use Dining Dollars,
a declining balance account, to purchase
food and drinks at all UAB dining facilities.
Undergraduates will receive Meal Plan Blazer 1
with unlimited meals at the Commons. Graduate
students will receive Meal Plan Green 6 with
25 meals per semester. For more details,
visit uab.edu/dining/meal-plans.
Please note, meal plans cannot be changed or
added while you are in the INTO UAB program,
but you can always add more BlazerBucks on
your UAB ONE Card.

NursingAs a student in the UAB School of Nursing
you will work alongside internationally-known

iLabIn partnership with the Collat School of Business
and Innovation Depot, an international award-
winning start-up incubator, the UAB iLab
provides students with the hands-on learning

workplace and is designed to support and
accelerate their start-up companies.
BiotechnologyUAB’s biotechnology program trains students
to find solutions and develop scientific research
and improve it for the commercial market. Using
a “learn by doing” approach, classroom and
laboratory skills are honed through an internship
at one of more than 550 biotech enterprises.
Graduates are uniquely qualified for high-quality
jobs and achieve an annual post-graduate

3. Take the Biological Basis of Public Health Exam, earning a grade of 70 or better.
