5.1. Bogor Botanical Gardens The glorious Botanical Gardens (Kebun Raya) was originally opened by the Dutch in 1917 and it became world renowned during the 19th Century fortropical botanical specimens and its research into cash crops such as tea, cassava, tobacco, and cinchona. The vast park with its rolling lawns, lily ponds andforest groves contains over 15000 species of trees and plants (including 400 types of palms), and its special orchid nurseries house more than 5000 orchidvarieties from Indonesia and abroad and the famous (and rather smelly), Rafflesia, the world’s largest flower.

5.2. Taman Safari Indonesia The Taman Safari Indonesia (Indonesian Safari Park) is located at Cibeureum, Cisarua Bogor, West Java, and was constructed in 1980. This area wasactually a non-productive tea plantation of about 136.5's Ha. And was thus given by the local Government Governor of West Java to the Oriental Circus tomanage as the Taman Safari Indonesia today. It sits in the Buffer Zone of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park, stands at an elevation between 900-1,800meters above sea level, with temperatures ranging between 16-27 degrees Celsius. Taman Safari was established as a national tourism subject by theMinister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication (late) Mr Soesilo Soedarman and pronounced as the Indonesian Centre for Reproduction of EndangeredWildlife (ICREW). It was also established for ex-situ conservation by the Minister of Forestry, Mr.Hasyrul Harahap, on March 16 1990. The modern zoowith an expansive natural beauty, opened for the public in 1986. The animal collection in that year was around 250 from 100 different species. Some of the
wildlife collection at the Taman Safari are protected species not only endemic in Indonesia, but also from the other five continents. Some animals asendangered species need special care to increase their population with captive breeding.

5.3. Sindangbarang Cultural Village
Kampung Budaya Sindangbarang or Sindangbarang Cultural Village is located in Desa Pasireurih, Kecamatan Tamansari, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa BaratIndonesia. A distance of only 5 km from the city of Bogor, or 60 km from Jakarta. Located at the altitude of 350 to 500 meters above sea level. Temperatureranges between 23 oC at night and 30 oC in the day. Sindangbarang village consists of 14 RW (Citizens Association) and 54 RT (Neighborhood
Association), with a population of up to 12,000 people. Most of the population is becoming sandal shoes craftsmen and farmers. Islam is religion thatfollowed by 90% of the population in the village. All houses buildings are stilts type made of wood and bamboo materials, with palm leaf roof.
Sindangbarang, a village not too far from Bogor sought to restore its ancient tradition as the final procession of Seren Taun Guru Bumi. The ritual expressionof gratitude the people of God on the results of Harvest and the results obtained on the ground this year and hope to harvest next year will be better. After aweek full of sacred ceremonies, the procession came to a pinnacle with the harvest parade or the helaran dongdang followed by the rice mating or Majikeun
Pare in the heart of the Sindangbarang Cultural Village. As a tradition that dated back to the age of Padjadjaran Kingdom, the Seren Taun Guru Bumi Ceremony was not merely a series of sacred rituals, but also a time of festivities. Villagers and crowds from everywhere could join in and mingle in thisannual celebration. The celebration was also a time where nature and God are praised, cultures are honored, and wisdoms are passed down.
6. Exchange rateForeign currencies are not accepted in most shops, so it is best for you to change your foreign currency to the local currency, which is Indonesian Rupiah(IDR). The current foreign exchange rate (April 2016) is approximately US $ 1.00 = IDR 13,151. These rates are subject to market fluctuations so pleasecheck them again prior to your departure date. If you come to Indonesia with some foreign cash, you can exchange it for IDR upon arrival at theinternational airport, banks or currency exchange establishments. You need to show a passport for identification and you need to fill out a form first. Also please note that many exchange places will not accept old or torn bills. Bring new and crisp bills in order to get the best exchange rate. If you happen to havedamaged bills that no one else will accept, simply go to a bank and exchange it for a new note for a nominal fee. Credit cards are accepted by hotels andsome shop, however cash is also necessary. There are now a number of ATMs accepting international cards. Please note that most ATMs charge a fee ofapproximately US$ 4 for use of international cards.

7. ClimateBeing located in South East Asia, Bogor City experiences just two seasons; wet and dry. Its proximity to the equator and relatively low altitude (ave. 265 m)ensures a tropical climate. Although the dry season is relatively cool, the wet season is typically warm and can go on for seven or eight months. Bogorweather in April, at the time of the assessment should be slightly warm and humid in the daily temperature range of 25-34oC. Please prepare yourself sinceusually there is rain in the afternoon (after all Bogor known as Rain City). Light clothing will be necessary for outdoors.
8. ElectricityElectricity used in Indonesia is 220V-50Hz. The types of plug are C and F (as pictures below).
