INFORMATION SESSION AND APPLICATION
You are highly recommended to attend our information session, with details as follows –

*Remarks: Non-Cantonese speakers are welcome to contact OGEIS to sign up for tailor-made sessions.
Please complete and submit an online application by 28 January 2020 (Tuesday) at:
https://webapp.ln.edu.hk/sys/ogeis/obexchange/. Students should select a minimum of 3 choices of
Summer Programme in the online application.
Selection interviews will be arranged tentatively from 3 to 4 February 2020. Application results will be
announced by the end of March 2020. Please note that OGEIS reserves the final right in the selection of
students for the Summer Programmes 2020. The final decision on your application also rests on individual
host institutions.
COURSES AND CREDIT TRANSFER
You should take the no. of credits of Summer Programmes as required by Lingnan University. Credits of
courses taken at host institutions will be transferred back to the University with prior approval from
relevant departments/programmes/programme directors. Grades obtained will not be counted in GPA
calculation, but actual grades obtained will be shown in transcripts. For enquiry, please consult OGEIS or
your academic advisor/home department before exchange.
STUDY LOAD
The maximum study load in a summer term is 2 courses or 6 Lingnan credits. Credits taken are counted in
the maximum study load for the academic year of 2019-20 or in the next academic year (i.e. 2020-21) as
appropriate.
INSURANCE
You are required to purchase suitable and adequate insurance covering travel, personal accident, medical
expenses (accident and non-accident), hospitalisation and emergency evacuation/ repatriation
throughout the entire exchange period and personal trips.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Schemes for EDB Subsidy
Education Bureau (EDB) has introduced the following subsidy schemes to support post-secondary students
with financial needs to participate in exchange activities outside Hong Kong:
a) Scheme on Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (SSE) and Scheme for Means-tested
Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (Means-tested SSEBR)
Students participating in eligible Summer Programmes and receiving means-tested student financial
assistance from Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance
Agency or whose families are in receipt of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are
welcome to apply. Eligible students may receive a subsidy up to a maximum of HK$18,000.
b) Non-means-tested Mainland Experience Scheme for Post-secondary Students (Non-means-tested
MES)
Local and/or non-local students participating in eligible Summer Programmes in the Mainland are
welcome to apply. Eligible students may receive a subsidy up to a maximum of HK$3,900.
c) Scheme for Non-means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-Secondary
Students (Non-means-tested SSEBR)
Local students participating in eligible Summer Programmes in Belt and Road (B&R) regions listed at
the Hong Kong Trade Development Council website (excluding the Mainland, Taiwan and Macao) are
welcome to apply. Eligible students may receive a subsidy up to a maximum of HK$5,400.
Students with successful offers of eligible Summer Programmes will receive an email in March/April 2020,
inviting them to submit online applications together with approval letters from Student Finance Office (if
applicable). Applications will be assessed based on (1) the approved level of student finance (if applicable);
(2) destination of your exchange; (3) duration of your exchange; and (4) availability of the fund. Application
results will be announced by the end of July 2020.
Air Ticket Sponsorships (for Summer IEP except UBC and Mahidol)
Lingnan University will sponsor the net airfare of the most economic and reasonable flights between Hong
Kong and your host institution. Other expenditure including tax, security, fuel, other miscellaneous items
and your personal trips will be borne by students. Students have to purchase air tickets from the
designated travel agent. For details about the procedures and regulations, please refer to “Financial
