Class 1

Past simple

*We use past simple to talk about an action that started and finished at a specific

time in the past.

*We puted at the end of the verb.

Examples:

I played football yesterday.

She visited his grandmother last summer.

They worked last vacations.

* When a verb ends in -y- and before the -y- there is a vowel, we added.

Example: I played video games last night.

But, when before the -y- there is a consonant we useied.

Time expressions

* To be specific in the past we use different time expressions:

Yesterday: its the previous day.

Example: I studied math yesterday.

Last: day, week, month or year.

Example: I painted my house last year.

Ago: used for X days, weeks, months, and years before. Ago follows the

number of days, weeks, etc.

Example: I watched a movie two days ago.

In: for specific years or moths.

Example: I graduated in 2010.

Irregular verbs

* Some verbs, in past simple, are irregular (noed at the end) so that we have to

learn them by heart (memorize).

Examples:

Go -> Went

Run -> Ran

Have -> Had

Do -> Did

Be -> Was / Were

Football match

very happy. After the match, we got home and we celebrated with the rest of my
