    Leadership always comes from

    progressing of smartness to wisdom

Ahmedabad: “Leadership ‘comes’ from progressing from smartness to wisdom. Leadership is a

demonstraon, which does not have a denion. It is performance, not a posion. Successful mul-

performance in mul-roles and proper balancing is wisdom,” said Dr Shailesh Thaker, Business Coach

and power-house of movaon and leadership in Gujarat Technological University (GTU)’s h Lead-

ership Summit on Saturday, 12th September 2015.

The Leadership Summit has been organised, every year for the last ve years, by the Research Centre

for Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility   of GTU. Dr. Thaker, who has conducted over

1,400 workshops and who has inuenced over 1, 98,000 parcipants across the world, has been help-

ing GTU organize the summits. Leadership at the Department or at the Instuonal level of an aca-

demic instuon plays an important role in determining the outcomes in terms of ‘growth of its Facul-

ty Members’ and ‘transformaons in its students through its programs’. In our country, GTU is proba-

bly the only University, which has been organizing the annual leadership summit.

The Chief Guest at the Summit was Shri Sunil Parekh. Mr. William Burck and Antoine Viornery dis-

cussed the ideas of collaborave leadership. Mr. Arthur F. Carmazzi delivered a lecture on ‘Re -

discovering your Ideal Leadership Identy’. Karen Smythe discussed about ‘Leadership: from Posion

to Performance’. Karen is passionate in her quest to develop and coach individuals whose desire it is

to achieve their professional or personal goals. Marna Gleissenebner discussed ‘Teskey Leadership

tradional course materials such as lmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide

interacve user forums to support community interacons between students, professors, and teach-

learn in the class-room and then doing homework aer reaching home. In ipped class -rooms, the

students will watch video lectures at home and understood something. Then come to class-room and

they will do homework in front of professor. If a student has some problem in understand the lesson,

    stand his or her feel-

ings. But they are not interested. Self -centered feeling increasing in everybody's mind. No doubt,

the world will change & going in whatever situaon, there will always be need of a human being to

    any person.

She advised faculty members to nd his own self -comfort zone. There are lots of expectaons of

society towards teachers. But teachers are also human beings. They are also having family andtheir own problems. Among all the issues teachers have to play role of ideal person for students. A

teacher has to play two-life: classroom life & personal life. It is very important what teacher is do-

ing with family & friends during his or her personal life. If a teacher is not happy from inside, what

he wil teach in class next day? Thus in the age of compeon, it is becoming very dicult for

teacher to keep balancing between the two type of life. Increase your capabilies slowly. Do not

take extraordinary stress. Some lady teachers are saying that between classroom life and personal

life, we are not geng me for ourselves.

New generaon is very smart. We are complaining that our son or daughter are not studying well.

But in fact they are from the generaon that has informaon at the touch of a nger. So now role

of a teacher has been changed & has to teach only something new instead of basics. Teachers have

to teach discipline, me management & values. A teacher should not do his or her work as a job,

but it must be taken as a passion. There is need of pung board on each & every classroom that:

"Teaching is a serious business, Leave all your frustraons and all your worries, before you enter

the class". She advised teachers to inculcate respect of students towards Indian tradions.

When you connect to people, your resources and abilies mulply. Link ideas and generate joy of

team creavity. Work in teams and enjoy the connecng power. Unity is oneness. When all religions

will unify to transcend any one religion, world harmony will be reality. Joy is your true nature. Enjoy

every moment of your life and make your journey a happy joyful journey”, he said.

Dr. Shailesh Thaker said that, “training is limited, but

learning is unlimited. Current world changes at very fast

pace, so fast so we have to keep update ourselves by

learning new thing. That way all faculty members of GTU

have to learn through FDP program. So you will not out-

Marna Gleissenebner-Teskey, Personal Presence Training & Coach from Austria told faculty mem-

bers to introspect about history, values, characteriscs, roles. She said that besides this she advised

facules to explore competences like talents, educaon and experience. Then you will be driven by

your mission of life. The inner voice that calls him/her to that authenc Self is called 'purpose'. The

majority of the people, however, try to burry that voice in order to live a life according to known

standards. They start making inner noise in order to distract themselves and to not hear that voice.

She said that true comfort zone is…

Where you feel working to your strengths

Where you can apply your specic personality

Shri Sash Kumar batra, Principal, Bhavan's college of Communicaon & Management -  Jaipur told

he/she would not be able to face student and can much less do juscaon to the profession. Such a
