GST is coming for real and near (to be effective on 1.4.2015). The recent Gazette Order of effective date for GST implementation [PU(B) 320/2014] and GST Regulations 2014 [PU(A) 190/2014] has set out the various administration and compliance procedures.
GST impacts on property developer mostly arising from cost of construction, such as cost for contractor, sub-contractor and project management, in view that the GST accountability is on invoice basis. This results in various practical difficulties to property developer, especially where conventionally the basis of income recognition and expenses is on progress billing basis. Furthermore, the impact of practical implementation and complication brought about by the exemption of residential property needs to be taken into account as well.
Various ambiguities in the GST treatment and policy imposed have resulted in the slowing down of recent property market.
This seminar is led by the renowned GST specialist, Dr Choong Kwai Fatt with the objective to provide his insight and suggested approach to overcome the hurdle in GST implementation mechanism, concepts and methodologies especially for property developer.
