• Number Line (Cut and glue 120 chart to create number line).

10 Sticks

• Day 1 – Students make 10 sticks by counting and gluing 10 beans on craft sticks

• Day 2 – Play Game “Who Has More” by dropping seven ten sticks and recording the numbers representationally with pictures and numbers

Music Resources

• Dr. Jean – Counting to 100

• Jack Hartman – Crosses mid-line with actions while counting

• Dr. Pencil

• Tape off a 10 frame on the floor

• Roll a giant dice.

• Move that many students into the 10 frame squares.

• Any left overs stand outside the frame.

• Use yarn to create a group of 10 and the leftovers move into the frame.

Beginning Addition “Fill the Tree”

• Partners take turns rolling 2 dice.

• Add the numbers together

• Mark a space on the tree that matches the sum.

• Lose your turn if no space is available.

Math Structures for Addition

• Problem solving cards are copied and laminated with the math structure on the back

• Begin whole group and work students out into groups as they show understanding.

• Partners model using the tools of their choice.
