Planting Process

Trees filter our air and keep it fresh by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen

Trees are planted to benefit rural communities,

wildlife, forests, or holy environs

Trees are only planted on

government or community land

Saplings are in nurseries for

several months before planting

Communities plant the trees

themselves and are paid for their

labour

Stone walls are erected if

necessary to protect planting

Only indigenous trees are planted and biodiversity is maintained.

Communities benefit from fruit, fodder and non-

timber forest produce

Pictures of planting put on

social media and our website

Independent auditors visit site to verify planting

Our Projects

This project

involves planting

50,000 trees in

the periphery

Kanha National

Park in Madhya

Pradesh

Kanha National

Park is one of the

India’s finest tiger

reserves. Kanha

also shelters one of

the largest

populations of

tigers in the country

(131 tigers as on

June 2006). Some

of the other larger

animal species

found in the park

are sloth bears

(111 as of 2000),

leopards (80 as in

2000), wild dogs

(396 as in 2000),

striped hyena,

spotted dear, wild

boars, jungle cats,

jackals and a

variety of monkeys.

Trees are carbon sinks, accumulating carbon as they grow

This project

involves

planting

30,000 trees in

the periphery

of Satkosia

Gorge Wildlife

Sanctuary in

Orissa

The Sanctuary covers an area of

530.01 sq. km The sanctuary has

about 38 mammals (including 11

tigers, 19 leopards and 155

elephants), 126 birds, 28 reptiles, 4

amphibians (including the

endangered Gharial) and 183

species of fish. About 400 species

of plants have been recorded in the

Sanctuary out of which 126 are

trees, 98 shrubs, 125 herbs and 51

climbers. The Sanctuary has 35

villages in the core area, 80 villages

Our Projects

This was a 19,000 tree

project in the

Panchmahal district of

Gujarat

Trees offer protection from the downward fall of rain, sleet and hail as well as reduce storm run-off

and the possibility of flooding

This project successfully

planted 29,990 trees over an

area of 100 hectares. This

project positively impacts the

lives of 3500 villagers in the

villages of Tegra, Karech,

Thadi Beri and Dhimdi in the

Udaipur district of Rajasthan

Benefits of our Projects

Neem has anti-bacterial properties that help in fighting against skin infections such as acne,

psoriasis, scabies, eczema, etc.

The fruit, non-timber forest produce and fodder from

our projects are used by rural communities in the

area, a vast majority of whom live below the poverty

line, and really helps them augment their income

and conserve their disposable income. In our project

in the Panchmahal district of Gujarat, 40% of the

communities’ disposable income is spent procuring

cooking fuel which can be substituted with fallen

twigs and branches.

Several of our projects are in tiger reserves and

wildlife sanctuaries, which restore degraded areas in

the periphery of the sanctuaries and help prevent

man-animal conflict.

The trees planted are all indigenous and include

species like Custard Apple, Amla, Khair, Neem and

Black Siris to maintain the biodiversity of the area.
