For example, a course-grade medium (such as rocks) produces thicker roots to anchor the plant. Whereas a fine-grade medium like Grodan will produce more feeder roots that are thinner, like tiny hairs. These tiny hair-like roots that plants produce have a greater surface area which enables them to uptake nutrients more efficiently. More feeder roots means faster plant growth. Why Grodan? For greater success with your Flo-n-Gro®, skip the rolling clay balls and other media. There is a natural product that works better – Grodan.

The following products are perfect for use in the Flo-n-Gro® system:

GROW-CUBES™ (small croutons) can be used on their own or mixed in 50/50 with clay rocks to improve growth in place of just rocks.

GROW-CHUNKS™ (large croutons) are the larger version of the croutons. Use these on their own (or mixed with GROW-CUBES) since the pieces are too large to easily mix uniformly with clay rocks.

GROW-CUBE vs. GROW-CHUNK

Using Grodan Rockwool in the Flo-n-Gro® System

• Generally no pH adjusting is needed, just soak your croutons in plain water before use. But if you have hard water (high pH), soak in water adjusted to pH 5.5.

• Drain the croutons to waste by pouring them in the mesh inserts provided with your system.

• When fully drained, place the mesh inserts into the blue buckets.

• Make sure the grow area is clean.• Set up the system according to the Flo-n-Gro®

instructions.• Use GROW-CUBES, GROW-CHUNKS or a mixture

of both sizes.• If mixing with clay balls, choose GROW-CUBES. • We recommend a 50/50 mix. The more Grodan

used, the better the results.

• Fill the system’s reservoir with a hydroponic solu-tion. For example, EC 1.5 and pH 5.8 works well.

• We recommend using Grodan starters and GRO-BLOCKS™ for the best transplants, but you can transplant from any medium into the croutons.

• Carefully transplant each plant into the buckets.• Once transplanted, begin your watering cycle.

• Flood once a day for 15 minutes one hour after lights come on to achieve sufficient growth. Do not feed more than twice daily for best results.

• Adjust flooding frequency and cycle length accord-ing to the growing environment and stage of plant growth. (Using this sytem outdoors may require more than two floods per day with GROW-CUBES.)

• Check pH and increase EC (or PPM) as the plants grow. Switch to a bloom solution when the plants begin to flower.
