? INT. INSIDE RUPERTS HOUSE - DAY ?

Jiff, happier than ever, is standing around a small cake crumb his father found for him in a dumpster near their home. Rupert, Penelope, and Jiff stand as a family while Jiff blows out the little candles that stand on his cake.

RUPERTJiff, come over here me and your mother have a surprise for you.

JIFFWhat is it dad! Am I going to finally have a brother to play with?

PENELOPEOh Jiff you know it is not a brother now get over here.

JIFFOk mom, I still want a brother though.

RUPERTIt is not much but I got you a piece of cake for your birthday.

JIFFCAKE! I love cake how were you able to do that.

RUPERTI had to carry it a long way but I would do anything for you Jiff my boy.

PENELOPEJiff why don’t you blow the candles out and make a wish

(Jiff blows out candles)

(Rupert makes his own wish)

JIFFDad I want you have my piece of cake.

RUPERTNo you eat your cake it’s your birthday and you deserve it

JIFFDad when you want to know what I wished for?

RUPERTSure if you really want to tell me go ahead

JIFFI wished I could be just like you dad.

Rupert is astonished by his sons wish admission and wants to be a better father. Him and Penelope go to the bedroom and get ready for bed

? INT. RUPERTS BEDROOM - DAY ?

Rupert and Penelope lie down and bed and start to talk about the evening. Rupert is still thinking about the wish that he made while Jiff blew out the candles on his cake. Rupert lies with his back to Penelope while they talk before they fall asleep.

PENELOPEHoney what is wrong with you lately do you want to talk about anything

RUPERTI am just tired.

PENELOPEIs it the queen, is she asking too much from you again. You know that you can always tell her if you are working too much.

RUPERTI just want to give you everything that you deserve.

PENELOPERupert you have made me the happiest ant in the whole colony don’t act like that

RUPERTYou just don’t understand how it feels when you can only give your son a crumb for his birthday

PENELOPEYou need to give yourself more credit. You take care of all of us and we are so happy.

(Rupert groans)

RUPERTLets just try and get some sleep Penelope.

PENELOPEOk whatever you say.

Rupert lies in bed thinking about how he could provide more for his family. He remembers wishing to be successful and able to do more. As he drifts off to sleep he wishes he could be a real human man that could give his family everything that they need.

? INT. INSIDE RUPERTS NEW HOUSE - DAY ?

Rupert awakes and he immediately realizes that something is different. He is lying in a real house with a real bed and is next to a woman he has never seen in his life. Rupert’s wish has come true he is a human. SUSAN his new wife awakes him.

SUSANHoney, wake up, its TRENTON’S birthday today.

(Rupert looks around wondering what is going on)

RUPERTWhat? Who is Trenton?

SUSANYour son, what the hell is wrong with you Rupert?

RUPERTOh, sorry I was just in the middle of a dream.

SUSANWell get up you have a long time and we need to go downstairs and start breakfast for Trenton

Rupert sits in shock and realizes that this is not a dream and somehow he has become human. He decides to just act natural and see what this life is all about. He hears Susan yelling for him from downstairs, and goes to see what else is going to happen.

Jenna- JIFFDaddy! Daddy! Today we’re gonna go to tha sidewalk and walk between cracks and then were gonna play catch with sand and then were gonna climb up the tallest blade of grass and then were gonna eat whatever we find in the garba-

RUPERT

Jiff, Jiff, calm down.

JIFFBut Daddy I got a full 58 seconds and I want to play!

RupertSon I haven’t got enough time to play today, your father has to go get leaf for the queen.

JIFFI know Daddy I wan’t to come! Teach me how t-

PEENELOPEJiff, your father has to work today. And its your birthday week so both of us will have some extra work.

Trent- INT. RUPERT’S HUMAN HOME - NIGHT

RUPERT is surrounding by people in the kitchen. There’s a cake sitting on the table. DUNCAN looks to him for permission to blow out the candles. Rupert nods. STACEY smiles. She couldn’t look any happier. Duncan takes one big breath and blows out his candles.

RUPERTDuncan what did you wish for buddy?

DUNCANDo you really want to know Pop?

STACEYDuncan don’t you dare tell your father what you wished for. If you do it won’t come true silly.

STACEY Now who wants a piece of cake?

DUNCANMom do you think I could get some ice cream with mine?

STACEYOf course hunny. It’s your birthday!

RUPERTGo ahead and have two pieces of cake Duncan. It’s your birthday son and after you’re done we can start opening your birthday presents.

DUNCANThanks Dad!

INT. RUPERT’S HUMAN HOME – NIGHT

DUNCAN rushes into the living room and jumps onto a pile of presents. The rest of the family follows him to the living room. RUPERT is the last person to walk in. We see nothing but a big smile on his face.

DUNCANI can’t imagine what’s in this big box. I hope it’s not a pony. I don’t want a pony. What is this Dad?

RUPERTIt’s a basketball rim and a backboard. All the kids in the neighborhood have one. I thought we could put it up in the driveway sometime this week.

SHUAI-The scene where Rupert transforms back into an ant.

When Rupert transforms back into an ant, he lies down on the ground, feeling a little dizzy and have no idea where he is. He stands up and looks around, seeing nothing but fallen leaves .He has a breath with fresh air deeply and ready to find some food. He walks around with no destination. At his glance, he sees another ant  not far from him and the ant is walking toward him.

THE ANT

What’s up? dude

RUPERT

What’s up?

THE ANT

Are you lost?

RUPERT

Why do you say that? How do you know?

THE ANT

I can see it from your puzzle in your eyes, haha, I am joking. Just because few ants walk alone around here, it is

too far away from our nest. I’m Gray , by the way.

RUPERT

I’m Rupert.

GRAY

What are you doing here?

RUPERT

Uh….I don’t know, when I woke up, I just found I was lying on the ground, and I might be murdered unsuccessfully by

someone.

GRAY

What? Murdered?

RUPERT

I’m not sure. ….

GRAY looks like a little confused and terrified on his face.

RUPERT

Haha, I’m kidding , don’t worry about it.  What are you doing here?

GRAY

Uhh, I’m sent to look for the food for saving, you know, the winter is coming soon. We gotta to be prepared. I have

searched everywhere near our nest, but I found nothing we can eat, so I have to travel far to find something for

saving, so I am here.

RUPERT

Have you found something for saving?

GRAY

Not yet. But I found you.haha….

RUPERT

All right, maybe I can look for the food for saving with you , because even though I can be your guys food, but  I

promise you are not interested, for I am not enough for queen for  a meal and I am tasted terrible.

GRAY

Hahaha, you are a funny guy, dude.

RUPERT

Let’s go. Its late.

The scene where Rupert happily brings food for the queen.

RUPERT and GRAY are looking for the food for a long time, but they have nothing acquired.  They feel sort of exhausted and frustrated, and decide to take a short break.

GRAY

Today is not our day, dude. We searched almost everywhere but get nothing, damn. I wanna go home.

RUPERT

Almost, right? Not everywhere. We must miss somewhere. I think we wont go back nest with nothing.

GRAY

Do you think it is too late for us ants to look for food now? You know, every other nest’s ants are looking for food

now, the competition is going on fiercely.

RUPERT

You might be right, but I think we still stand a chance to

get something, complaining doesn’t help, is it? So why don’t we continue searching?

GRAY

Yeah, you are right, let’s do it.

When they are on their way to look for food, suddenly, they hear a shot of gun and see something falling down in the

sky. They look each other and run toward the thing from the sky.

GRAY

Oh , my god, it’s a worm, giant worm.

RUPERT

Yeah, it is. It’s god’s gift for us.

GRAY

How could it fall from the sky?

RUPERT

I guess it was some bird’s food, when the bird’s flying with it in its mouth, the shot of gun scared bird, then the bird

drop the worm by accident.

GRAY

Actually, I don’t care it is from the bird’s mouth or it is a gift from god, I just know we got a big worm and we will

finish my task perfectly. I cant imagine what the queen will prize us.

RUPERT

Yeah, but you’d better go back to gather more ants to move the worm back, I am here to defense the worm not be stolen.

GRAY

You are right, I will be back soon.

After a while, GRAY come back with a large number of ants and they move the worm back to nest together. When the queen

hears the news, she wants to see GRAY and RUPERT.

QUEEN

Both of you did a great job. What do you want for a prize?

RUPERT

Its my honor to do some contribution for our nest, for our family, I am just so happy of it. I don’t want anything for prize. Actually, the honor is biggest prize for me. I just feel so tired, I want to go back home early to meet my

family and take a rest

GRAY (whisper to RUPERT)

What? You don’t want prize? Are you out of mind? You will never get a better chance like this one, trust me.

QUEEN

You are a really role model of ant, even you ask for nothing, I have to give both of you some prize to encourage

other ants for hard-working. Both of you will get hard-working metal and enough food for this winter.

GRAY and RUPERT

Your majesty, thank you very much.

After meeting the Queen, Rupert goes back home while his wife and his son are sleeping. He come to his son(Jiff)’s

room, kissing his forehead and Jiff wakes up.

JIFF

Where have you been today, dad?

Rupert

It’s a long story , son . I will tell you later.  How about having a picnicking tomorrow, son?

JIFF

Sounds cool.

Rupert

Go back to sleep, it’s late. Good night!

JIFF

Good night, dad.

 

The scene Rupert has a picnicking with his family.

It’s a sunny day, the Rupert’s family have a picnicking in the field.

JIFF

Where exactly have you been yesterday, dad?

RUPERT

I don’t know how to start, uhh…… when I woke up, I found I was lying down in a place far from here. Before that  I seem had a nightmare, I dreamed that I was murdered by someone.

JIFF

Are you all right ,dad? Don’t worry about it ,it was just a dream.

RUPERT

Yeah, son, uhh, I know it sounds horrible and weird, but as you said it was just a dream.

So why don’t we just forget about it and enjoy our food?

JIFF

Sure, I’ll call mom , the food is almost ready.

RUPERT
