The AIPD library has 3 primary options for sharing information; a twitter account, a blog and a portal for student to access library information and tools.
The twitter account is unfortunately very neglected and is not used correctly. There were only 5 posts in 2012 and only 3 posts so far in 2013. Of all the posts, none are the “bites of information” that Twitter is meant for, instead they are photos. The blog shares the same fate of being underutilized, as posts are not kept up to date. Finally the portal has easy to see sections but a little more upfront aspect of tools could be present.
Library Objective
Recruit new members to draw physical traffic to the library. Increase hard copy usage. Increase use of online library tools. Keep the student body updated on current news, events, etc.
New Social Media Goal1) Increase member base in current social media applications by 15 percent by the end of 2013.
2) Increase member base of new social media to half of current by 2013.
3) Monitor what members are saying via Social Media and respond accordingly.
4) Create a new plan to keep Social Media Applications updated at least weekly.
Focus Channels
Purpose: Create buzz for Hard Copy Books, increase recognition, increase social engagement, establish network
Metrics For Success: Followers, Photo Likes
Action Plan: 15 minutes 1x week on book presentation, 15 minutes 1x a week other school news.
Purpose: Increase recognition, increase social engagement, establish online
social network, search ability
Metrics for Success: Likes, Comments, Shares
Action Plan: 30 minutes 2x a week worker time spent on updating Facebook, sharing cool content, doesn’t have to library related just increase entertainment.
Purpose: Increase recognition, increase social engagement, establish online
social network, search ability
Metric for Success: Followers, Replies, Retweets, Shares, Favorites
Action Plan: 15 minutes 2x a week worker updates twitter and responds.
Blog
Purpose: Increase recognition, increase social engagement, search ability
Metrics for Success: Number of posts, Subscribers, Comments, Visits, Clicks
Action Plan: 30 Min of worker time creating a new weekly blog. 15 minutes, 2x a week responding to comments and sharing content.
