Our Idea

We will be basing our into on some aspect of the films we have previously researched. We will be adding lots of cuts and cut-aways, high angle shots and various other techniques to set our desired mood. We will add music after shooting with final cut/soundtrack software. Music will be sinister and we will try to match it to the footage to create a better effect.

Horror codes and conventions

• Codes which we can use in our horror movie are:• Spooky Mis en scene, Gore, Scary music; organs etc…,

whispering & sinister voices, sudden noises, mystery…• Some cinematography codes are; Canted angles, coloured

filters typically red/darkening, fast + frequent cuts (often in sync with music), alternative lighting…

• Conventions include;• Set in woods/spooky house, often ‘final girl’ etc…

Target Market

We will be aiming our horror movie at people aged 15-24. This audience contributed to 49% of views for the 2008 film ‘One missed call’ . 55% of viewers were males. This will also be our target gender. People who enjoyed ‘One missed call’ will be interested in our work because we will use similar techniques.

LocationFrom watching several horror clip openings; we have noticed

that they are usually filmed in location such as, woods, derelict buildings, alley ways, different rooms in peoples houses and open areas.

This gives us the idea of filming our opening sequence in open areas such as Farthing Downs, Priory Park, Banstead Woods or in a empty building.

Cast

Everyone in our group will take part at least once in our film opening sequence.

We will also each take a turn in filming our opening sequence. This is so everyone in our group is not stuck doing the same thing, plus we each get turn rotating the jobs.

Market Promotion• To promote our film we would use...• Television adverts broadcast in the evenings• Billboards and posters

• We would also use the internet to advertise our movie on popular free sites especially social networking sites such as facebook. This would allow us to inform our primary consumers.

• Advertising in local newspapers.

Distribution + Sales

• Our primary distribution will be cinemas

• After our cinema release we would release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray disk

• After a while, we could release the film as a television premier and on iTunes available to download for iPods.

Our Budget

• We will be basing our budget on that of similar horror films.

• The budget will be around £5million which is similar to some of the films we studied such as The Amityville Horror and One Missed Call although One Missed Call was slightly higher than £5million.
