In the Novus Ordo it falls on the Sunday before the First Sunday of Advent. Christ Himself speaks of His Own kingly authority [see link for Bible Citations]: in His last dis- course, speaking of the rewards and punishments that will be the eternal lot of the just and the damned; in His reply to the Roman magistrate, who asked Him publicly whether He were a king or not; after His res- urrection, when giving to His Apostles the mission of teaching and Baptizing all nations, He took the opportunity to call Himself king, confirming the title publicly, and solemnly proclaimed that all power was given Him in Heaven and on earth. These words can only be taken to indicate the greatness of his power, the infinite extent of His kingdom. What wonder, then, that He Whom St. John calls the "prince of the kings of the earth" appears in the Apostle's vision of the future as He Who "hath on His garment and on His thigh written 'King of kings and Lord of lords!'." It is Christ Whom the Father "hath appointed heir of all things"; "for He must reign until at the end of the world He hath put all his enemies under the feet of God and the Father." It was surely right, then, in view of the common teaching of the sacred books, that the Catholic Church, which is the kingdom of Christ on earth, destined to be spread among all men and all nations, should with every token of veneration salute her Author and Founder in her annual liturgy as King and Lord, and as King of Kings. And, in fact, she used these titles, giving expression with wonderful variety of language to one and the same concept, both in ancient psalmody and in the Sacramentaries. So what is the final message: Prepare – which we can especially do in the Advent Season which is coming very soon; Pray, in order to stay awake; Pause, long enough to do good things with our lives for others, and in doing so you will achieve the Peace that Jesus so often offered us: My peace I give. My peace I leave you! This then, my friends is the GOOD NEWS that we celebrate to day! Taken from Fr. Ron Stephens’ homily, St. Andrew’s Church, Warrenton VA St. Thomas Aquinas described wisdom as the habit of looking at everything in the light of our last end. The wise or sensible person is the one who evaluates everything, every option, every decision and choice – in the light of what life is all about, the ulti- mate purpose of our existence. STAY AWAKE

T he fire of God comes from within and no one can give it to us. We

PRAYER DURING

THE HURRICANE

SEASON

O Lord our God and

Father, who gives rain

and sunshine to your

children, we ask you,

in this rainy season to

uphold us and provide

for our needs.

You try our patience

and test our faith and

reliance on you; for-

give our sin of ingrati-

tude. So often have we

forgotten to thank you

for your goodness and

acts of mercy.

Teach us to look up to

you each day, appre-

ciative of rain and sun-

shine as you, in your

wisdom, through any

kind of weather do

feed us all.

In your mercy, protect

us against hurricanes

and tropical storms.

Pour out your bless-

ings upon our nation

and our people, and

make us grateful for

weather we receive

from your bountiful

hand.

We make this prayer

through Christ our

lord.

Amen.

THE MASS-CATHOLIC CHURCH’S SUPREME ACT OF WORSHIP

THE MYSTERY OF HOLY MASS

77 Graces and Fruits to be Derived From Devout Attendance at Holy Mass

As we continue these SEVENTY SEVEN graces received when attending Mass let us pray that God will open our

eyes, our minds and our hearts that we may have the zeal to pursue a better understanding of the Sacrifice of the

Mass.

31. This is so because Christ unites His prayers to yours and offers them to His Heavenly Fathers.

32. He acquaints Him with your needs and the dangers to which you are exposed, and makes your eternal salva-

tion His particular concern.

33. The Angels also who are present plead for and present your poor prayers before

the throne of God.

34. On your behalf the priest says Mass, and offers that Holy Sacrifice

to God Almighty.

35. For you and for your everlasting salvation he says Mass, and offers

that Holy Sacrifice to God Al- mighty.

36. When you hear Mass, you are yourself in spirit a priest, empow-

ered by Christ to offer the Mass both for yourself and others.

37. By offering this Holy Sacrifice you present to the Blessed Trinity the

most acceptable of all oblations.

38. You offer an oblation precious indeed, of greater value that all things in Heaven

and earth.

39. You offer an oblation precious indeed, for it is none that God Himself.

40. By this Sacrifice you honour God as He alone is worthy to be honoured.

41. By this Sacrifice you give most infinite satisfaction to the Most Holy Trinity.

42. You may present this glorious oblation as your own gift, for Christ Himself gave it to you.

43. When you hear Mass correctly, you perform an act of highest worship.

44. By hearing Mass you pay the profound reverence, the most loyal homage, to the sacred humanity of our Lord.

45. It is the best means whereby to venerate the Passion of Christ and obtain a share in its fruits.

. YOU WERE MADE TO DO GREAT YOU WERE MADE TO DO GREAT YOU WERE MADE TO DO GREAT YOU WERE MADE TO DO GREAT

THINGS

Everyone is like a pencil…… created by

the Maker for a unique and special pur-

pose.

By understanding and remembering, let

us proceed with our life on this earth hav-

ing a meaningful purpose with our life on

this earth, having a meaningful purpose in

our hearts and relationship with God

daily.

THE NEW ROMAN MISSAL CATECHESIS

“And with your spirit.” Proper translation of the original Latin text: “Et cum spiritu tuo.”

This new response will also be made five times during Mass

when this dialogue occurs: at the Greeting, at the reading of the

Gospel, at the beginning of the Eucharistic Prayer, during the

Sign of Peace (“The peace of the Lord be with you always”), and

at the conclusion of Mass
