Feeding Machine (99)Upon entry to the Zoo, you will � nd the feeding machine station, (positioned near the swings at the playground). Feel free to take a cup of feed ($1) - the following is a list of animals you are allowed to feed whilst on your visit at the Tasmania Zoo.

name 28’s refers to it’s distinctive call that sounds like 28.
6 Indian Ringneck Parrot - found in India, Burma, North East & Central Africa.
7 Western Rosella - only found in Western Australia.
8 Sun Conure - found in north eastern South America.
9 Plum Headed Parakeet - found in the lower Himalayan Hills, evident decline in Sri Lanka.
10 Mallee Parrot - found in eastern Australia.11 Love Birds - found in southern Africa.12 Red Winged Parrot - found in northern
Australia, New Guinea and Indonesia.13 Rainbow Lorikeet - found on east coast
of Australia, New Guinea and Indonesia. Feeds mainly on nectar, fruit and occasional insects.
14 Blue Winged Parrot - found in Tasmania & southern Australian mainland. Migrates from Tasmania to mainland Australia in the winter.
15 Superb Parrot - found inland Victoria and New South Wales. Declining due to changes in habitat - vulnerable
16 Bourke’s Parrot/Dove - Scattered throughout inner Australia. Active by night in extreme heat.
17 Sulphur Crested Cockatoo18 Kakariki - found in New Zealand. Wild birds
regularly eat seaweed.19 Cockatiel - only crested parrot, widespread
throughout Australia. Flocks of over 1000 have been seen.
20 Princess Parrot - arid interior of Australia, nomadic, occurring in some of the hottest environments in the world.
21 Hooded Parrot - found in the tropics of the Northern Territory. Is listed as threatened because of habitat destruction for mining.
22 Red Rumped Parrot - found in southern mainland of Australia.
23 Budgerigar - wide distribution of interior Australia. Worlds most kept parrot. Wild specimens are nearly always green and yellow.
24 King Parrot - found in eastern Australia.
25 Short Billed Corrella - found from north central to eastern Australia.
26 Spotted Tail Quoll (N/A) - small populations exist on east coast of Australia and Tasmania. Listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss, human persucation and introduced predators.
27 Eastern Quoll - once found in south eastern mainland Australia but now restricted to Tasmania since the introduction of predators such as foxes and cats.
28 Galahs - found all over Australia including Tasmania. One of a few species that has bene� ted from European settlement with the like’s of agriculture.
29 Regent Parrot - occurs in two separated populations in south Western Australia and Victoria/South Australian border.
30 Swift Parrot - found and breed in Tasmania, migrate to mainland Australia (mainly Victoria) during winter months. Highly endangered species.

37 Eclectus Parrot - found in Cape York Peninsula, Indonesia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. One of few birds where the female is considered prettier.

72 Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Fallow Deer.Emu - patchy distribution in Australia. Extinct in Tasmania where it was hunted to its death. Second largest bird in the world.

bird of prey. Endangered in Tasmania with less than 100 pairs left.
75 Little Blue Penguin - found throughout coastal areas of Tasmania and coastal areas from Fremantle WA to southern Queensland.
