our thanks to you once again for your magnificent support of Grimsby Town Football club last season.

From August through to May you followed Paul Hurst’s side to each corner of the country, on weekdays as well as weekends. Without doubt, we have the best fans in the League.

On home turf we were proud to see Blundell Park packed to the rafters for the Scunthorpe United game in the FA Cup in November and further 5,000-plus gates against Lincoln City, Huddersfield and Gateshead in the play-offs.

For the second year running we finished 4th in the Conference Premier, winning almost 50% of our fixtures, racking up 78 points in the process – a feat that shouldn’t be overlooked when you take into account the plight of play-off runners-up Wrexham and Kidderminister Harriers last season. Also, as I mentioned earlier, we enjoyed a superb run in the FA Cup, reaching the 3rd Round proper for the first time since 2003!

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one delighted to see The Mighty Mariners receiving national exposure on TV during the cup run. It’s been too long since we last enjoyed time in the spotlight, giving Football League clubs a run for their money.

Already we’ve managed to keep hold of our goalscoring skipper Craig Disley, creative midfielder Scott Neilson and the imperious James McKeown, along with handing professional contracts to three home-grown teenagers; I for one know that Paul

Hurst is working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring in players who have the hunger and required quality to help this magnificent club back to the Football League. For this to happen the club needs YOU to continue your outstanding support next season to help cheer on The Mariners, just as you did this year.

After what has been a good season, with exceptional support from the fans, we are delighted to announce the positive news that we have held the majority of prices at the same level as last season, with an adult and accompanied junior enjoying a full season’s entertainment at less than £15 per game, with a season ticket.

Also, as a special thank you to our long standing ’Senior Support’, we have introduced a significantly lower price for those fans who are 75-plus year old season ticket holders. We understand that some of our elder season ticket holders struggle with dark evening and very cold winter games, so we have taken this into account with a new lower price. We have also introduced an ‘Ancient Mariner’ category – albeit on matchday only – whereby any fan who is 85 or over can get to see the Mariners free of charge, as long as they are accompanied (season ticket holder or carer/family member).

I know this period can be frustrating as you haven’t got games to look forward to, but in the meantime one thing you can do is purchase a season ticket and guarantee your place at Blundell Park to help cheer the lads on.

Your support is crucial to the football club for many reasons, but on the playing side I can assure you that running out and performing as a player in front of a large and vocal home crowd gives you a massive lift.

As manager of this Football Club you, the fans, have helped create some special memories for me that I will never forget. Games in the play-offs, FA Cup and some of our league games against the likes of Wrexham, Kidderminster and, of course, our local rivals Lincoln City will stay with me forever. A key ingredient on each of those occasions has been the atmosphere inside Blundell Park thanks to you. Hopefully you have some special memories too and looking forward to the 2014/15 season, together I’m sure we can create some more.

The new season will, of course, see some signings arrive for you to cheer on as well as some of the lads who have served us well in recent times.

The future looks bright for Grimsby Town Football club with three youth graduates signing their first professional deals with The Mariners this summer.

Local lads Caine Winfarrah, Ellis Humble and Paul Walker all signed one year deals with their hometown club.

All three teens appeared for Town during the 2013-14 campaign, with Winfarrah making an instant impact on his debut – setting up Skipper Craig Disley’s last-minute winner against Woking back in November. Now the trio will look to push for a starting place in Paul Hurst’s new-look Mariners side next season.

Speaking about the club’s new local talent Paul Hurst said “It’s a good situation for everyone – the football club, me as manager – and the fans obviously relate to local lads that come through and want them to do well.”

You can play your part in making sure another crop of local youngsters make the grade in 2015 by supporting the Youth Development association’s schemes throughout the season. For further information see page 13.

There has never been a better time for supporters of Grimsby Town to have a say in the running of their football club.

The best way for a club like Grimsby Town to be competitive and move towards sustainability is for the local community to unite behind their professional club.

And with two members of the Mariners Trust now on the Board of Grimsby Town, supporters have a direct link to the decision-making process, allowing their voices to be heard.

In less than 3 years membership has increased by nearly 600% but we need more supporters to join. Please do not pass up this opportunity.

Trust members are working alongside the football club on a number of schemes which not only directly impact on the club, but the supporter experience too. Bars have been refurbished to enhance the match day experience, with big screen TVs installed. Fundraising nights, such as the series of Reunion Dinners, Quiz Nights and FIFA tournaments, have

helped fund the youth setup at Blundell Park, which this season has produced three new professionals.

In the last financial year the Mariners Trust has contributed £30,000, a fair proportion of which has gone to help the continuation of the School of Excellence and Youth set up

An example of the Trusts growing influence can be seen within this brochure. The introduction of the new ‘Golden Oldie’ (Senior Citizen 75+ Season Ticket) and ‘Ancient Mariner’ (Senior Citizen 85+ Matchday Ticket) tickets being incorporated into the pricing structure are both Trust-led initiatives.

The Trust is also playing a key role in working alongside the club in support of a new community stadium in Grimsby.

Since losing our Football League status in 2010 the club has been facing an uphill battle each season to keep our highly prolific youth system operational. The Youth Development Scheme costs, each year, in excess of £100,000 – a figure the club, with help from the Parents Partnership action Group (PPaG), needs to fund.
