The Gridlock Ankle Plating System consists of titanium plates, screws, and

instrumentation for applications in the bones of the ankle including trauma and

corrective surgical procedures.

STEP 3: Select the 6-Hole Malleolar Gridlock Hook Plate and apply to the prepared surgical site. The plate may be temporarily fixated with either olive

wires or k-wires. Approximate the position of the plate to the bone/pre-drilled guide holes and confirm proper placement and reduction through

anteroposterior/lateral fluoroscopic imaging.

Note: Slight contouring of the plate may be necessary to contour to patient specific anatomy. Warning: Excessive or multiple bends could

cause weakness in the plate.

STEP 4: Select the desired screw diameter and the corresponding pilot drill for the dynamic slot location.

STEP 5: Select the corresponding drill guide (static or variable angle) and place it into the superior end of the gliding hole.

STEP 6: Drill the pilot hole with the corresponding drill diameter at the desired angle of approach through the drill guide.

Note: It is recommended to irrigate during pilot drilling.

STEP 7: Insert the depth gauge into the pilot hole to determine screw length.

Note: Gridlock ankle screw length is measured tip to tip.

STEP 8: Select desired length non-locking screw. Insert screw into the pilot hole and drive the screw until the head of the screw is just short of

engaging the plate, in the final position, by rotating clockwise with the driver.

STEP 9: Using the tamp, impact the hooks of the plate until the desired reduction is achieved.

Note: Remove all temporary fixation prior to tamping.

STEP 1: Identify, expose, and prepare the surgical site per surgeon preference and fracture pattern/desired osteotomy.

STEP 2: Reduce the fracture using bone reduction clamps, k-wire, Steinmann pins or preferred method.

Optional: If pre-drilling for the tines is desired due to increased bone density, use the hook drill guide to drill two holes through the primary or

capital fragment.

STEP 12: Select the corresponding drill guide and place it into the desired plate hole.

STEP 13: Drill the pilot hole with the corresponding drill diameter at the desired angle of approach through the drill guide (static or variable

angle).

Note: It is recommended to irrigate during pilot drilling.

STEP 14: Insert the depth gauge into the pilot hole to determine screw length.

STEP 15: Select an appropriate length screw. Insert screw into the pilot hole and drive the screw to the final position with the driver.

Note: If variable angle drill guide is used, locking screw placement angle is possible up to 5° off axis.

STEP 16: Repeat steps 12-15 until all desired screw holes are filled. When placing additional screws, make sure placement does not interfere with

existing screws.

Optional: Based on surgeon preference, a 4.0mm Tiger Cannulated Screw maybe placed between the tines in an oblique fashion. The hook drill guide

may be used to facilitate k-wire placement between the tines though the central hole provided.

STEP 10: Once the desired compression is achieved, fully insert the non-locking screw in the dynamic slot and fully engage the plate. Confirm

proper placement and reduction through fluoroscopic imaging.

STEP 11: For the remaining screw holes, select the desired locking or non-locking screw diameter and the corresponding pilot drill.
