Smaller harbour considered 2003

• Main Problem• -As rough or rougher than previous harbour• -Silt up as much as previous• Thus unsafe to moor boats!• Minor Problems• -Bad Architecturally• -Need €8m subsidy from somebody• -Not all users catered for

• 10 Other designs considered. Either unacceptable or not viable.

Achievement

• Good selection & management to keep going in crisis. Largest leisure project in Ireland.

• Compare Dublin Docklands Authority. €200+m taxpayers money, nothing achieved.

• Greystones. Virtually no taxpayers money, new harbour built as Town ‘Icon’ and central feature.

• Recognition. World Conference, International Magazines, Afloat.

• Delays Happen. DART campaign took 22 years.
