News from District President By Joyce Crouch, President, Greenwood District UMW
I trust that each of you had a wonderful holiday season! I can’t believe we are already in
the middle of February. Now it is time to get down to business. Our district executive
committee has already been busy with plans for the year and we are excited about upcom-
ing events.
Our Local Unit Officers training was held at Broad Street UMC in Clinton on January 26.
Our theme was “With God’s Help I Can”. A total of 26 women were in attendance representing 12 churches.
Although attendance was low, the atmosphere was exciting and uplifting. Thank you to Nancy Roebuck,
Broad Street UMW President, and her team for hosting the event, serving us a delicious breakfast, and making
us all feel welcomed. Also, thank you to Rev. Steve Keck, Pastor of Broad Street UMC, for his words of en-
couragement.
I want to thank our District Executive Committee for all they do. We have a few new officers this year. If you
have a desire to serve the United Methodist Women as an officer, let our Nominations Chair, Susan Botts Pet-
ty, know.
Our next event is Day Apart. This will be held on March 9 at Troy UMC in Troy. Registration will begin at
9:15 a.m. We will also be emphasizing the Legacy Campaign and taking donations for the Legacy Fund.
Please plan to attend and bring a donation. Dr. Mary Lynn Polk, our Spiritual Growth Coordinator, is plan-
ning a very interesting and spiritual event, so I know you will want to be a part of it.
As the new President for the Greenwood District, I am in prayer for the Greenwood District United Methodist
Women as we move through 2019. I want all our members to examine their relationships with God and seek
to have a more spiritual relationship with Him. I want to encourage better communication between our district
and local units and to increase attendance at conference and district events.
It is my hope that Greenwood District United Methodist Women will continue to look for ways to fulfill the
Purpose of United Methodist Women, that we will strive to keep faith, hope and love in action, and to love
others as God loves us.
Joyce
News from District Vice President By Carol Marse, Vice President, Greenwood District UMW
Greetings, Ladies of the Greenwood District UMW,
The wonderful ladies of Broad Street UMC did a great job hosting the Officers' Training
Meeting! We are grateful for their warm hospitality! Nancy Roebuck and her team pro-
vided delicious refreshments as we arrived, and they had everything set up for us to have a productive training
session! Kathy Weir brought lovely music to our worship service, and Rev. Keck brought an inspiring mes-
sage that exemplified our theme, "With God's Help I Can." Thank you so much, ladies and Rev. Keck!
Our own Dr. Mary Lynn Polk gave a meaningful devotion, and we appreciate her greatly! Our officers gave
helpful information following our worship time.
Our next important event is the District Day Apart at Troy UMC! See you there. Carol

News from Greenwood District Treasurer
By Marcia Miller
Hello, Ladies,
It’s hard to believe that it is 2019! Where has time gone? As we get
older, our priorities shift. Some things that were burdens to us as
youngsters mean the world to us now. As we begin this year, I want the United Methodist Women’s group
to be a priority. Please try to make this wonderful organization meaningful in your life.
I am sure that many groups have new treasurers this year. If any of you would like to receive one of my
treasurer packs, please just let me know. You may email me or call, leaving your name and address and I
will send you one. You will find my contact information on page 10 of this newsletter.
We had a great 2018! Meeting our goals makes us proud and puts a smile on our faces. I hope that 2019 is
even better and we send in at least one more dollar than last year!
Thanks to everyone,
Marcia
