Threats to greenspace
u Everyone in the UK to have easy, safe and close access to quality parks and green
spaces where they live
u Encouraging collaboration between businesses, local authorities and communities to
work in partnership to improve and sustain their local parks and green spaces
u Inspiring communities to recognise the value of green space and boost usage to
improve their health and quality of life
Vision for the GreenPlaces Fund
By creating a national mechanism for parks and greenspace giving that attracts funding and commitment from both businesses, communities and individuals locally, where it matters to them most, the Fund can support:
u Business forums such as the Chamber of Commerce are encouraged to be key
supporters and the board managing the Fund at a local level would ideally be lead
by local business
u The Fund promotes the creation of an authority-‐wide community forum, such as the
Birmingham Open Spaces Forum, that brings together groups interested in their
local parks and greenspace
u There will be expertise locally too and it is hoped that the Fund can support key
partners such as TCV to establish volunteering centres or hubs
GreenPlaces Fund -‐ partnerships
It seeks to grow partnerships across towns and cities between local authorities, communities, businesses and green sector NGOs
